: Members of the public in Wapenamanda and other parts of the Upper Highlands have been urged to send any helpful information on criminals, illegal guns and ongoing crimes to a newly established Information Collection and Analysis Unit as security forces step up efforts to restore law and order.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Highlands Western End and Commander of the Special Policing Zone, Joseph T Tondop, said the State Security Forces (SSFs) are facing an escalating crime situation in Enga Province, including Wapenamanda, and nearby areas in Southern Highlands and Hela.

“We are in the middle of a serious situation where crime is rapidly getting out of control, but we are doing our very best to get on top of it,” Mr Tondop said. “However, information is a critical tool, and we need the support of the public.”

Mr Tondop said the National Government has deployed a Special Task Force led by Commander Wagambie Junior to help contain the violence and restore the rule of law across the Upper Highlands.

He said as the Divisional Commander, he has also set up a special unit within his command team to collect, analyse and use information from the public to guide operations.

He stressed that law and order is not the responsibility of police alone. “Crime affects everyone. We must work together to protect our communities, our families and the future of our children,” he said.

Mr Tondop assured the public that SSFs are not in the Highlands to intimidate or harass people. “We are here to ensure our women are safe, our men are not murdered going about their daily lives, and homes are not destroyed,” he said.

He said police are aware that the same fi****ms are being moved between tribal conflicts across Enga and other provinces, sometimes hired out and transported through routes such as the Baiyer Road and from Western Highlands.

Mr Tondop called on peace-loving citizens to provide information on gun suppliers, users of illegal weapons, supply routes, people hosting hired gunmen, and their hiding locations.

“All information will be treated in strict confidence. We will not ask for your identity, and your number will not be revealed,” he said. “Send information, including photos, by text or WhatsApp to 72482495.”

He said criminals involved in violence are not heroes but pose a serious threat to society and must be brought to justice to ensure lasting peace and development in the Highlands.

My goodness. Why are PNG people posting fake news to destroy the dignity of this nation

Just why did you mislead people with your made-up caption? This particular incident was not in PNG. It was in Solomon Islands. You should post/expose good things about PNG under your page name EXPOSE PNG. Posting negative lies that aren't true about PNG isn't good.

The intention of just collecting likes and comments with your fake statements captioned on this photo has destroyed the image of this country. The world can be big, but social media brings all nations together, making it possible to easily spread the news or any events happening in other countries in a second and whatever we post regarding this nation must be true and can reflect good things about this nation.

The international media groups are falsely framing this country to be one of the worst nations on earth, and this triggered fear in the minds of tourists to spend a vacation or investors to do business in here. Upon this PNG's pages also portray bad images like this just dragging this country back from progressing.

We should compete with these media groups that are drawing negative conclusions about this nation rather then we too take part and contribute to what those are saying to destory down this nation.

Facebook is not monetize in PNG and your intention of collecting likes and comments from fake post wouldn't benefit you but it destroy the image of this nation. Expose PNG should this this post down 💯

Kumuls’ Next Step: What Happens If PNG Beats Tonga?

By Rugby League Today

The Papua New Guinea Kumuls have been unstoppable in the Pacific Bowl, claiming the title three years in a row. But many fans still ask the big question — why aren’t they competing in the Pacific Cup yet?

Here’s how it works 👇

The Pacific Championships have two divisions:

Pacific Cup – Top tier (Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa)

Pacific Bowl – Second tier (PNG, Fiji, Cook Islands)

Even though PNG continues to dominate the Bowl, promotion isn’t automatic. To move up, they must win a promotion playoff against the team that finishes third in the Pacific Cup — which this year is most likely Tonga.

If PNG beats Tonga:
🇵🇬 PNG will be promoted to the Pacific Cup next season.
🇹🇴 Tonga will drop to the Pacific Bowl.

If PNG loses:
They’ll remain in the Bowl division for another year.

So, while the Kumuls’ three-peat is impressive, their biggest challenge is yet to come. Defeat Tonga, and PNG won’t just win another trophy — they’ll make history by joining the Pacific elite.
