Matt Kalish Media Motorsports PR and Communications Manager // Photographer //

(RIP) ('16-'19) // Newhouse School.

Matt Kalish is an off-road motorsport photographer and public relations professional with a master’s degree in engineering and an affinity for dirt. He will do anything for a shot and even more for a free meal. One of his work road trips once brought him to the Tail of the Dragon; he didn’t really see the appeal. So he spends most of his time at Rally America and Red Bull Global Rallycross events

talking about vorticity and wake turbulence to his visibly bored colleagues. Matt is known for his speed and his simple, yet focused style. If it doesn’t contribute to a completely informed account of the events at a race he doesn’t include it in his immediate releases. He credits his engineering background for this ability to quickly identify and pull out relevant information. Though, it helps that racing is far more interesting than another lecture on Lagrangian Coherent Structures. Matt bought his first D-SLR during his freshman year at Syracuse University and began shooting daily life on campus. Eager to learn more, he took advantage of his schooling at SU and enrolled in photojournalism classes at the S.I. There he refined his technique and learned how shoot on a schedule. Matt eventually grew bored of shooting university life and sports so he elected to combine his two hobbies, photography and racing cars. He worked freelance, covering Rally America, NASCAR, and Formula 1, before getting picked up full-time by Global Rallycross in 2013. There, Matt learned how to manage a large social media account along with the basics of public relations. Matt currently manages the social media accounts of Rally America. In between rallies he can be found with a camera in auto show press booths, on muddy stage roads, and track-side anywhere in the country.

These Travis Pastrana liveries were pretty fun to put together for Jim Beaver Esports, especially the purpose-made hidden BGE grills pattern on the [19]9.

Thanks Jim Beaver and Chris Leone for letting me run with the throwback idea for the Coca-Cola iRacing Series machines, and Apex Action Photography your photos are gorgeous!

With just one Coca-Cola iRacing Series race before the playoffs, we're cranking up the intensity to 199 at Darlington. Blake Reynolds and Michael Guest will pay homage to Travis Pastrana for tomorrow's race!
