It's nearly February and that means one thing to vinyl lovers - it's time for the annual Paekākāriki Village Vinyl Fair and Dance in the best little seaside town on the planet!

We kick the day off at 12 noon with more than a dozen record dealers with stacked crates for you to dig for treasures. Or just hang out with a coffee from one of the many cafes and listen to the funky sounds of our DJs spinning their favourite tracks. Doors close at 3pm, so don't miss out! Free entry.

The night is for the groovers who like to party to the sounds of some of Paekākāriki's finest wahine and new DJs. Doors to the dance open at 7 till 11pm, low-cost snacks are available. The theme this year is Your Favourite Music Tribe - be it punk, disco, metal, rock or country (or combine them all!). There's something for everyone who shares a love of vinyl, dance, dress-up and fun.
Tickets are $20 at Paekākāriki Fruit Supply or on the door.

All proceeds from the fair and dance go towards upkeep, maintenance and development of the local iconic radio station Paekākāriki 88.2FM - the coolest waves on the Kapiti coast.

So well deserved - Amanda is a rockstar πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Very pleased to announce the latest recipient of our We Love Local Gift Box as being "Amanda from Birthright". As well as being an awesome human Amanda is the force behind the donation of ball gowns, suits, shoes etc to our college students heading to their college balls. This helps our young people to "glitter and shine" on these special nights!

Once again thanks to the team at We Love Local for their amazing generosity.

And remember if you can spare at least $2 per month via automatic payment you can help us do more for our Kapiti community.

Happy 2024 people!😍

It's so hot we just watched a bird pull a worm out of the ground with an oven mitt.

We know that we are in a yucky position, it's hotter than a butter chicken pie out there, but we are also in the middle of water conservation and trying to make sure that we do not use up all of our precious wai... AND we also have some swim areas that are deemed unsafe to swim in.

If you need to cool down please remember that we are lucky to live in a district with beautiful beaches, refreshing water ways, community pools and a great splash pad. If you can find safe swim spots and avoid filling pools and running sprinklers during this time you will be a local legend.

Have a great long weekend and please stay safe on the roads ☺

If you’ve been to Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō over the last week, you may have noticed it’s a bit warmer than usual. Our air conditioning units have been working extra hard in this warm weather and now there appears to be an issue.

Our contractors have been working on it and will continue to do so. However, for now, please be mindful that it’s a bit warmer than normal and we’re sorry about that.

We have had the pleasure of working with Mark in the youth broadcasting space when he was the principal of Waiopehu College - Paraparaumu College whanau are very lucky to have him take the helm!!

Kia ora

The Board is delighted to announce that we have appointed Mark Robinson to the position of Principal at our College, following the resignation of Craig Steed in October last year. Mark will join us from term two.

Mark was Principal at Waiopehu College in Levin for seven years before moving to the Ministry of Education in August 2022 where he is currently Manager, Integrated Services. Mark has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will enable him to move into the position with ease, and we are confident that he will be a great asset to our college and community.

Please see below for an introduction from Mark.

We know you will join us in welcoming Mark and helping him settle in as our new Principal in term two.

Ngā mihi

Michelle Mason
Acting Presiding Member
Paraparaumu College Board

To the parents, caregivers and students of the Paraparaumu College community,

Ngā mihi nui ki a Koutou Katoa,

I am excited to be writing this brief introductory message to you all following my recent appointment to the position of Principal at Paraparaumu College. My name is Mark Robinson and I will be joining the College at the start of Term 2 from a position as Manager Integrated Services for the Kāpiti-Horowhenua region at Te Mahau, in the Ministry of Education. Prior to that I was the Deputy Principal at Naenae College from 2010 to 2014 and then Principal at Waiopehu College from 2015 to 2022. I have been happily married for over 30 years to my wife, Jo, and we have 2 children: Matthew, who is 27, and Bee who is very nearly 21. Whilst our children now live in Wellington Jo and I live just behind Paraparaumu College having moved here from Levin in November 2022 - I will be able to walk to school in all of about 7 minutes!

I have always been passionate about education and I believe educational leadership is a privilege and is the best job in the world. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead Paraparaumu College through its exciting next phase of growth and development and I am really looking forward to meeting the students, parents and caregivers of this amazing school, as well as getting to know the wider local community which Jo and I love living in.

I would like to wish you all the very best for the first Term of 2024, and I will be back in touch once I have started in my new role on Monday 29 April.

Ngā mihi
Mark
