Earlier this week, UHC celebrated Valentine’s day, a much anticipated tradition here at the school. ❤️

Thank you to everybody who bought a Valentines bundle, and supported us, and we hope everybody had a fun day of celebrating love! 💌

And a big thank you to the wonderful Year 13s who helped organise the event, sell the bundles, and deliver them on the 14th. Without you, this wouldn’t have been possible 💘

Day 5 of the Top 5 UHC events of 2022!

An electrifying, dazzling, cosmic performance ended the school year on a high note. The Dance Repertoire was a hit yet again, and the array of dance numbers and musical performances kept the audience on the edge of their seat! The theme, Celestial, was perfectly conveyed in every way, from the well-polished dances, to the carefully chosen songs, and the incredible light show - it really felt like you were taking a trip through the stars!
The hall was packed each night. The audience loved the MC’s one liners and jokes, plus getting to sing and clap along to songs that they can’t get enough of!
Well done to everyone involved in this incredible event. It was a beautiful showcase of all of the hard work that our dancers and singers have put in this year!

This wraps up the Top 5 UHC events of 2022! Happy New Years everyone. We hope you’re all keeping safe and having fun. We wish you all the best for 2023!

Day 3 of the Top 5 UHC events of 2022!

Cancer Awareness Week has always been one of the biggest events of the school year, and this year was no different. Over a week in August, we had a yellow-themed Baking Contest, Daffodil Day, Bandana Day, and Shave for a Cure. Through these events, we showed our support for those with cancer, and those affected by it, and even raised a whopping $4076, which all went to the Cancer Society! This is such an important cause, so it was amazing to see so many donating, or supporting in any way they could, and sponsoring those who got their head shaved.
The Baking Competition was an absolute hit, and students spent hours the night before decorating cakes and cupcakes in yellow icing, and making cheesecakes and cookies, etc. Raedyn Coutts was the winner with her incredible cake that both looked and tasted delicious, and was topped off with beautifully made daffodils.
The Shave for a Cure Fundraiser was also a great success, and those getting their head shaved had a huge audience to cheer them on! Some students even got waxed to raise some more money, which everyone loved to see.
It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and supporting such an important week in our school’s calendar!

Hello UHC!

We hope you're having a safe and happy holiday so far.
As it is Christmas tomorrow, we thought it would be fitting that we give you all a gift that the talented Prophet team worked on throughout Terms 3 and 4. The digital version of the last issue of The UHC Prophet for 2022! There are so many great articles packed in there, so have a read, and share it with the family.
But that's not all... In the next few days leading up to New Years, we will be sharing a countdown of our Top 5 favourite events from this year! A trip down memory lane to finish off what has been an amazing year!

Hello UHC!

We have another exciting issue of the UHC Prophet for you, filled with some of the highlights from Term 2.

From the Year 13 Drama and Dance production, to Matariki Week and Anti-bullying Week, there’s so many great articles to read in this issue.

We have heaps of cool events coming up this term as well, like the Senior Ball, two more productions, and Cancer Awareness Week, just to name a few. It’s going to be a whole lot of fun, and we’ll be sure to post some of the awesome pictures that get taken.

On Thursday, the Year 9’s and 13’s celebrated St Patrick’s Day at school, and what a fun event it was! 🍀

The start of the year has been very different this year, and unfortunately, we haven’t been able to host as many events as we normally do. We know that the past few weeks haven’t been easy, so we thought that St Patrick’s Day was just the event that we could all use to lift our spirits.

Year 13’s got dressed up all in green, with Irish music playing outside the library, dancing as they were handing out green lollies to the Year 9’s who came to see what all the noise was about. Soon, we had a whole crowd, and it was great to see so many Year 9’s dancing along with us and enjoying themselves.

Thanks to the Year 13’s who helped out and showed so much enthusiasm; you all made this event really special. 💚

Tomorrow at ako time there are sign ups for the colour run. It is running first Wednesday lunch back Term 4. First 150 in get to do it, and this year completely free! this year more colour, and obstacles …. Make term 4 start with a splash!!!

At the end of last term the year 12 drama class put on an amazing production of the British comedy Teachers 👩‍🏫

Thank you to everyone that came and supported. Also a big thank you to all the teachers and backstage involved in making this happen. 📽🎭

Today eight of our year 12 and 13 students were given the opportunity to attend a white ribbon youth ambassadors training day at Aotea college.

Throughout the day we had the privilege of listening to some white ribbon ambassadors, Judge Peter Boshier, Richie Hardcore, Ete & Mele and Angie & Rachel. We all took away some great messages from these speeches that we hope to be able to share with our wider school in the following weeks.

We also used this day as an opportunity to workshop and collaborate with other Upper Hutt schools Heretaunga, HIBS and St Pats. Working together we came up with some great ideas for our individual schools and our Upper Hutt community to raise awareness of these issues.

A big thank you to Aotea college and everyone who made this day possible!

Thank you to everyone who came and watched the 301 Dance and Drama production of a midsummer nights dream this week ✨💜

It was an amazing show, big thank you to not only 301 dance and drama but also the art department, backstage, hair, makeup, and lighting crew it wouldn’t of happened without you guys! 🎨🎭

Hey guys next week is Bandana day, supporting the charity CanTeen. From Monday onwards there will be Bandanas for sale for $5 each outside the library. Then on Thursday and Friday you can wear these Bandanas. All the proceeds will be going to CanTeen who help youth with cancer. There will also been food trucks and spot prizes up for grabs. This week is being run by the year 10s and 11s so come and show your support!
