Hive mind - which is your choice of poster for our film Refuge: A Duty to Care? It's premiering at Doc Edge shortly and we're still in the throes of finishing. Our doc explores the life and work at Pet Refuge, a temporarily oasis for animals from households experiencing domestic violence - many victims won't leave unless they know their animals are safe.

So interesting. Many years ago now, we made Brother Number One (film) that followed Rob Hamill to Cambodia where he spoke at the War Crimes Tribunal trying the Khmer Rouge who had tortured and murdered his yachtie brother Kerry. I interviewed Karim Kahn, then with the Tribunal, now at the ICC. Famously, he has issued arrest warrants for the Israeli and Hamas leadership. The former have now threatened him and his family. And I interviewed Elizabeth Becker who was a young reporter and later author, who had covered the war in Vietnam and Cambodia. She interviewed Pol Pot, and seeing what was coming in 1979, left. Her encounter is now a film Rendez-vous avec Pol Pot at Cannes directed by Rithy Panh, French-Cambodian filmmaker Both Khan and Becker such courageous people. It's amazing what documentary leaves with you, Doc Edge, New Zealand International Film Festival. Brother Number One (film) streams on the NZ Film Commission site. I think it has stood the test of time.

Annie Goldson’s new feature explores the origins, performances, personalities and fate of Red Mole who burst onto the scene at the height of the counter-culture in Aotearoa New Zealand in the early 1970s. An indefinable genre of poetry, dance, mask, fire-eating and rock music, Red Mole took young ...
