Did you know that the phrase “Keep It Simple, Stupid” was created by the US Navy in 1960?

Lately, we’ve found ourselves using the K.I.S.S method constantly around the office. There’s a good reason for that too — when it comes to online marketing, simplicity works best.

In fact, most content is suggested to be written for an eighth-grade reading level, making it easy for everyone (even 12-year-olds!) to understand.

The fewer clicks, steps, and fields, the better your conversion rate.
- Simplify the messaging.
- Simplify the user experience.

Have you ever thought about your marketing strategy like building a house?

Maybe you should!

Imagine you're constructing a house, but instead of starting with a blueprint, you just start putting up walls, laying floors, and adding windows wherever you feel like it.

Before long, you've spent a lot of time and money, but what you've built is unstable, disjointed, and far from what you wanted.

Now, think about how different it would be if you had a solid blueprint.

A detailed plan showing where every wall, window, and door should go, so they all come together to create a cohesive, functional, and beautiful home.

What is the different between a Facebook Like to a Follow?

LIKE:
A page like is a more public display of support or affinity for a brand or organisation because the like will be shown in the About section of a person's page. You page likes will also inform the types of Facebook ads you are shown.

A like is also an automatic follow, but the opposite is not true. You can follow a page without liking it.

You can also like a page and unfollow it, which means you will stop receiving their updates and content in your feed, but the brand will still show up as a like in your About section and they can still use your name and profile picture.

FOLLOW:

With a follow, you will only receive page updates and posts in your feed from that brand's page.

Your follower total is a stronger indicator of the number of people who would like to see your content in their feeds, so it’s best to track follower count rather than like count.

So to put it simply, liking a page is a public display of support, while following a page indicates interest in receiving your content!

Don't be fooled by greenwashing, and also don't be the fool....🪴

Businesses are under fire for making misleading claims about their environmental initiatives...

Here are some tips to effectively showcase your business's eco-friendly efforts:

1. use your own photos + assets
Loading your website and marketing platforms with stock images of turtles in the ocean stuck in plastic is not a realistic representation of your environmental impact. Showcase what your business does for the environment using your own images.

2. back your claims
Facts are only facts if you know where they came from and how they can be proven. Make sure you understand the claims that you’re making so you can back them up with evidence if necessary.

3. stay focused
Don’t be shy, we need to be having these conversations more often. Share your environmental initiatives and get the conversation started! Just make sure your claims can be backed with evidence.

It may seem simple, but we do often see a few of these steps missing from websites....

1. Make sure you have contact details visible and easily accessible.

How can someone trust to buy something from you, if there is no way of contacting you except perhaps an elusive contact form?

2. There is no information about your business.

Why should someone trust you, if you can’t tell them anything about you? Even if you don’t think you have much to write about, make sure you have an About page.

3. Your website looks old.

Perhaps your website was the hippest thing out when it was created, but if its older than 5 years you probably need to have a spruce up. Websites that are old fashioned, poorly designed and just plain ugly are not going to do you any favours in converting visitors into customers.

4. There are no social media links.

Social media is actually really important and a key marketing tool for your business. Having active, regularly updated social media accounts helps to reassure visitors that your business is a real entity, with real people and products.

5. There are no reviews or feedback.

Legitimate reviews are crucial for helping to instill trust into potential buyers. If someone else bought this same item, or stayed at your establishment and had a great outcome from it, then they will feel much more comfortable forking over their credit card.

Wondering whether your website is missing something?

Well, a recent client of ours happened to not have their HTTPS and WWW redirects set up!

This is so important. If your website isn’t redirecting properly, you can end up with multiple versions of your site indexed by Google.

This can confuse search engines and dilute your SEO efforts. Even worse, without proper HTTPS and WWW settings, visitors might face security issues or see a broken website.
