Today we have the talented composer and sound Designer - Keegan Meiring.

Artists or producers that inspire you - musical or non?

These are some of my musical favourites: The Beatles, Mark Ronson, Childish Gambino, Matt Corby, Magic City Hippies, Black Keys.

Non musical: I actually love learning about cooking and find it really cathartic, as well as reading.

What inspired you to start writing music - moment/concert/album?

I've always loved music from a young age, although I didn't start playing guitar until I was 13.
The first record I ever bought, which really hooked me, was "The Young and the Hopeless" by Good Charlotte.
A high school band covered one of their songs at a school fair I attended, and I thought that was the best thing ever.
Even when I was like 8 years old, I made drum sets out of my books and pencils.

Guilty musical pleasure?

Heavy Metal. Particularly the aussie band "Northlane"

Favourite instrument?

This is a tough one! Has to be a tie with guitar and drums.

RolandTR 909 or RolandTR 808 - and why?

808's all the way. I didn't come from a hip hop or urban music background and grew into it over time.
808's have this funny way of being retro and also super modern at the same time. It's like a timeless sound.
It's influence on pop music has been unlike anything else in my opinion.

It's Sunday morning, what's on the stereo?

Probably one of the aforementioned, or some Spotify playlists I like (Kitchen Swagger is great). If not, then it's likely to be The Wiggles or kids music. Haha.
