If you will be in or around Auckland over this Matariki long weekend, please note that there is a special event taking place in Matakana (North Auckland region) on Saturday 29 June. It is a Celebration Day for the launch of the book "The Living Language of Water" by Veda Austin. We were privileged to attend a recent public talk by water researcher Veda Austin about her work - and issue 52 features an excerpt from her fascinating new book. Signed copies of the first edition of Veda's book will be available at the event. The venue is the gallery space at Charlies Gelato, 17 Sharp Rd, Matakana and the launch runs from 1.30 to 3.30.

If you in Wellington tomorrow (27 June 2024) please consider attending the hearing of the petitions committee to support safer food for everyone in NZ - but especially children... Thank you. Below is an image from the page of the Safe Food Campaign. It shows foods in that can contain the insecticide chlorpyrifos. This pesticide has been banned in 39 countries but is still used in NZ. Alison White from the Safe Food Campaign will be giving an oral submission to the petitions committee at Parliament about this pesticide on Thursday 27 June around 3.30pm. If you are in the Wellington area please consider going to Parliament to support her. Also, regardless of where you live, if you would like to support the campaign to ban this pesticide in NZ, please share the Safe Food Campaign FB page https://www.facebook.com/safefoodnz/ and this link of their site https://www.safefood.org.nz/article/chlorpyrifos-petition-summary so people can learn about this issue. Thank you. (NB: This pesticide is not allowed in organic production but unfortunately organic food does cost more and not everyone can afford it. Sharing some sad news:

Dr. Mike Godfrey (Tauranga, New Zealand) passed away on Sunday, April 28. His funeral is tomorrow (Thursday May 2, 2024). You will be able to find the details at the link below.

Dr. Mike Godfrey will be remembered for many things - including his intelligence and curiosity, which led to his exploring therapeutic options in addition to the allopathic tradition in which he trained. Among his many other achievements, he did important work on mercury toxicity and he was also a pioneer in thermography (for breast health screening) in New Zealand. I will personally also remember his kindness and dedication to the art and science of medicine.

Sincere condolences to Dr. Godfrey's family, friends, colleagues and patients.
