As many of you are aware, Hamilton EV has recently closed. They had been selling EVs with warranties and lifetime free service agreements until days before closing the business. We understand the disappointment caused by this, and we really want to help the EV community in need! We obviously can’t provide you with the service you paid Hamilton EV for, as we have NO affiliation with them, but what we CAN offer is some help and peace of mind..

⚡ We would like to adopt you into the Drive EV Family! ⚡

What that means is that for those of you who have purchased a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) from Hamilton EV, we will offer the following for 3 years from purchase date:
▪️ Be your support, a phone number to call for any EV questions and concerns
▪️ Repair your vehicle in our dedicated 100% Electric Workshop with EV specialists at our internal rates
▪️ Free pickup of your car if it’s coming to us for repairs if it either can’t make the drive out of town to Taupo, or if is completely immobile
▪️ Send a mechanic to Hamilton regularly for discounted local servicing, simple repairs and checkups

The EV World is facing a lot of negativity surrounding RUCs and the rebate being canceled, and the last thing we want is more negativity for the group. There is a very active Anti-EV brigade out there that will be very quick to tell you you bought the wrong car if you call them for advice now that your dealer is no longer around. This is where we want to make sure you all have someone you can call when things don’t go as planned. We will be there to help!

We could really use your help to locate as many affected customers as possible! So if either yourself, a friend, family member, or someone you bump into at a charger bought a car from Hamilton EV, let them know to get in touch with Drive EV so we can meet up to help them out.

We will be organizing a free meet up in Hamilton where the team from Drive EV will come up armed with our workshop tools to have a look over your car, do free battery checks, and just be available for questions.

Please feel free to call for a chat on 027 521 0429 or send me an email [email protected]

WHITE RABBITS and beautiful Red Teslas! Aaron Panapa catches up with me in Christchurch, and I start to happily come to terms with the seemingly endless Service visits.

Aaron lives in Christchurch and has owned his imported Model S P85+ for four months after wanting something a little bit beyond the normal. He's got a few extra tweaks planned for the inside.

We have made some changes under the frunk to our (new) Patreon subscriptions and have:

1) Adjusted all new Patreon memberships into NZD (they were USD)
2) Added tiers of support - now Bronze, Silver and Gold. Don't worry - they all provide early access to our episodes
3) Top tier (presently Gold) also gets their name and Tesla referral link on our website - to publicly recognise the support.

Existing supporters remain unchanged, but if you want to, you can change to the new tiered offerings.

March episode now being edited with early release to our Patreon subscribers tonight. Aaron owns a beautiful P85+ out of Japan and let me just say it is a beautiful car!

"But what about the February episode?" I hear you say! Well, it's a little "hush hush" at the moment - Alex promised something particularly special and has delivered - let's just say that it is also presently available to our Patreon supporters and it will be available to everyone else in February.

With significantly fewer Model Xs coming into New Zealand, we take a look at this old classic 😁 and some of its idiosyncrasies.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to our listeners! In this first episode of 2024, Alex chats with a gentleman who would like to be known just as 'Grant - from Mt Eden'. We hear about the Model X as a family car; how it works out for charging on trips. Then we both talk a little about Autopilot and solar panels, and a...

The September episode is released - the second of a series recorded in Christchurch. Jason is a Network Controller for the lines company, Orion. He has had a very positive experience with Tesla, owning an imported Japanese Model S.

Jason is a Network Engineer at Orion Networks in Christchurch. His EV journey began with a conversion of a motorbike (everyone else was doing cars!) and he always had the dream to own a Model S. That opportunity came in the form of a Japanese import and Jason is extremely happy with the decision and...

It was wonderful to catch up again with Justin Boyd - early EV pioneer - who has recently moved to the South Island. It's been a long time since we've been at the same location and we had a good chance to reminisce about his efforts to get the EV Association of Aotearoa off the ground - which, in Richard Pearse style, technically did. Scheduled presently for October release.

Another interview recorded this morning for general release in September. Jason is a network engineer at Orion, and so we were able to hear how the local lines company here is upgrading its network to cope for street-loads of EVs in the future. Also, it was exciting to hear of the wonderful support that Jason has received from the local Tesla Service Centre in the connection of his imported Japanese Model S to the NZ mobile network.
