Now to introduce some of the crew who are joining us for post production!

Meet the team: Nick Buckton as sound designer and mixer🎙

Nick Buckton is an award-winning sound designer/re-recording mixer with 20 years experience across film, documentary, television drama, animation, and music. Working out of Native Audio in Auckland, his recent feature film credits include Savage, Shadow in the Cloud, The Dark Horse, Guns Akimbo, N**e Tuesday, There Is No I In Th*****me, and James & Isey.

When he’s allowed out of his dark cave, Nick likes to watch test match cricket, draw Pokemon with his 7 year old son Otto and to make music. He’s a member of cult indie band Voom, who are due to release a new record through Flying Nun Records next year. Nick also releases his own music under his moniker sidekicknick.

Nick fumbled his way into the film sound post biz via his love of music and all things noise-y. Having classical musicians as parents and a glam rock guitarist for an older brother, his formative years were confusing. However, access to a 4-track cassette machine in the school holidays combined with an expansive imagination, was the catalyst for what was to come. Turns out that playing with noise was fun.

Find out more about Voom: https://www.facebook.com/voomnz/

Meet the team: Ciara Mare as Assistant Hair and Make Up Artist

Ciara helped Shayne on set, particularly on the days with our wonderful extras!

Ciara is also an actor which she got into through theatre when she was 9 years old. Since then, she has been in countless theatre productions in South Africa, New Zealand and Europe where she is from. She made the jump to screen in 2010 doing adverts in South Africa as well as some voice work. More recently, she has worked on Musicals such as “ Heathers” and “Clue on stage” and was involved in array of projects with South Island Media where she tried her hand in producing and directing as well as acting.

In her spare time, she is usually with her 3 children or freelancing as a makeup artist.

With the shoot now wrapped, we have a few more introductions to make... starting with the fabulous Shayne Milne!

Meet the team: Shayne Milne as Hair and Make Up Artist 💄

Shayne grew up in Auckland and moved to Dunedin at the age of 18 to go through law school. She was admitted to the bar in 2012 and practiced property and commercial law for eight years before making the bold decision to leave law and finally pursue her lifelong passion of makeup artistry. She hasn’t looked back since!

Shayne has her own business and does special occasion makeup like weddings and graduations on the weekends. She also does makeup regularly for a few of the local fashion shows - Zonta, Otago Polytech, Fashion For A Cure and some work for Aart on St Andrew. She has recently been doing makeup for the local production of Les Miserables which she throughly enjoys.

Shayne still does a bit of legal work in the way of teaching law graduates. She is the sort of person who just has to keep busy so enjoys splitting her time between her two loves - law and makeup!

You'll have seen Shayne's incredible artistry already on our amazing cast but you can see more of her work on her page: Shayne Milne MUA

Meet the crew: Nicholas Dodd as our DIT 💻

In his own words, Nick is 'happier being in the background'. He walked into NHNZ about two and a half years ago, looking for a break from hospitality and has been trying to keep himself useful there ever since. In his spare time, he likes reading, indoor plants and of course film.

Meet the cast: our lovely extras as our pack of journos! 🎭

Completing the cast announcements, it is a pleasure to introduce some of our extras who will be part of the group of story-hungry journalists following Meg Sydenham's Flora!

Meko Ng, born and raised in Hong Kong, came to New Zealand in 2016. She is a third year student at the University of Otago, working towards her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre Studies. As a singer, actor and dancer, Meko has performed in a huge variety of shows and while most of her shows in the past have been theatre work, Meko has recently started getting involved with more screen work, taking up her first role as an extra in an upcoming Netflix film, The Royal Treatment.

Jared Mason has worked as a camera operator in the TV industry for 20+ years in both NZ and Australia. He has mostly shot news and current affairs but in Australia, was involved with an international travel show and reality TV. He has travelled the world extensively for work including covering US elections and The NZ defence force in Afghanistan for 60minutes. He has three New Zealand film and Television awards for news and current affairs camera work.

Janette Rust is a young artist from South Africa who moved to New Zealand to pursue a career in acting. She is currently a full time retail assistant, but her heart belongs to the stage.

Catherine Mackmurdie studied acting at South Seas Film and Television School and has a background mainly in theatre. After a few years out of the industry, she has recently thrown herself back into it with rigour and is excited to be back on a film set.
In her spare time, you'll find Catherine in any Dunedin theatre production she can get herself involved in because to her there's nothing more magical, fun and invigorating than a theatre.

Jason Holden is somewhat new to the film industry but has been lucky enough to work on some local business promotional videos and campaigns as well as being a featured extra in a handful of movies which ignited his passion for acting.
