Last December I had the privilege of being the official photographer for the arrival of the Polynesian voyaging waka. They had sailed on the last stage of the journey out of the pacific. Extraordinary that these fragile craft had travelled so far , even with a few modern comforts and navigational aids. The sailors looked suitably weather beaten and were warmly greeted in Okahu bay , Auckland by welcoming crowds then ushered on to the Marae for the welcoming ceremonies.

A project I worked on in 1998 This was a programme in Northern Thailand about giving young women education and work skills thus steering them away from a life of prostitution. At that time it was known as th daughters education programme. The photographs show the girls in their home and school environment. Their motto was " DEP girls don't cry". Which says a lot about their determination to transcend their environment and contribute to their communities.

I took these the day before His Majesties Arcade and theatre on Queen st , Auckland was demolished, illegally by greedy short sighted developers out to make a quick buck and bail out their failing company in 1987. It ended up being a car park for many years after that .
