Choosing your hard is something that truly is a blessing. I am a true believer that if you don't choose it life will give you one for free. Water (especially cold) is something that I have always gravitated to in moments of my life where I know that I need grounding, or when my brain is not in the most healthy of places.

When you do something hard everything else in comparison becomes easier. If you just jumped in to 2 degree waters earlier that morning your mental scuffle with Sharon at the office is puny in what drives your nervous system up the wall.

The human experience is monkey's propelling through space with everything in nature pushing against you physically and mentally. Life is an upwards battle but a journey nonetheless. When you connect with your fear and your pain you remember what it feels like to truly be alive. So no, jumping in the water isn't a hack to happiness but a sharp and cold rail of gratitude.

Find your hard.

Day 16.

Sometimes you forget that your environment isn’t just what surrounds you, it’s what’s happening inside your head. You can move cities, change jobs, surround yourself with new people, but if the space in your mind stays the same, nothing really shifts. The 75 Hard challenge made me realise that reading isn’t just about discipline or ticking off pages. It’s about changing that internal landscape, the quiet, unseen environment that shapes everything you perceive.

When you read, especially nonfiction, you’re not just learning facts. You’re building new tools, perspectives you didn’t have before. It’s slow, almost stubborn work. Word by word, page by page, you start to see the world differently because you’ve let new voices in. That’s the part no one talks about, the way reading changes you from the inside out. It’s not flashy. It’s not quick. But it’s grounding. For me, it’s become less about self-improvement and more about self-connection, remembering that growth doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it’s just sitting with a book, letting the silence do its work.
