Kapa haka excellence is coming to Tāmaki Makaurau!

Te Matatini Festival brings together competing kapa haka groups from all over Aotearoa and Australia, in an unforgettable celebration of Māori culture.

Fifty years after its inception in 1972, the Festival – the Olympics of kapa haka - will be held at Eden Park from 22-25 February 2023.

Get involved in the thrill and the magic of kapa haka, even if you can’t make it to the Festival. See, experience and explore what’s on offer around Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland in the lead-up to and during Te Matatini here!

This is the premier NSW Touch Football junior representative event and is conducted annually in late February.
As the title suggests this is the State Championship and is open to all NSW Affiliated Members.

🖤🤍❤️Kai pai to Matua Wayne hippolite, Ngakau Moka Tengu, Alize Cassidy, Quinton Tuhakaraina and Cade Heaphy who are particpating in this year's Te Matatini Kapa Haka Festival in Auckland's Eden Park.
The biggest kapa haka festival in the world, Te Matatini (the many faces) festival has been going from strength, drawing crowds of up to 30,000. Running for 50 years now, Te Matatini is the largest Māori performing arts event in the country and an important opportunity for tangata whenua to celebrate and connect with the rich taonga of their lanuage, culture and identity. The manu (values) represented by the iconic hui bird on the stage backdrop are beauty, leadership, excellence and prestige.
Watch the video and see if you can spot our kapa haka superstars....Wayne, Ngakau, Alize and Cade are on Thursday at 5.20 and Quinton is on Friday at 11.25.

Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata preparations underway with the blessing of the prestigious mahau this morning at Ngā Ana Wai Eden Park in Tāmaki Makaurau.
The blessing will commence Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata festival beginning Tuesday 21 February.
The mahau was carved by 20 carvers from the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute and was first unveiled at Te Matatini in Rotorua in 2013. Since then, the mahau has been a permanent stage fixture at Te Matatini festivals.
Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei, Te Matatini delegates, Tāmaki Kapa Haka and Ngā Ana Wai Eden Park lead this mornings karakia rituals.
