In 1999 Babu set out to prove a person could remain on the summit of Everest overnight without oxygen tanks. Mountain Hardware, a leading US outdoor equipment manufacturer, made a special tent, sleeping bag, and mattress for him to withstand the extreme conditions.

Amid 60mph winds and snowfall, he reached the summit with two other Sherpas. They assisted him to pitch the tent and then departed. Most climbers remain on the top for less than 30 minutes.

Babu kept busy on the walkie-talkie and sang songs to stay awake throughout the frigid night; doctors had warned him that if he fell asleep in the low-oxygen environment he would not wake up. After 21 hours alone on the summit, he packed up his gear and descended; an endurance record which still stands.

In 1985, Richard Bass, a successful businessman and avid mountaineer, became the first person to accomplish the feat of climbing all Seven Summits. Impressively.

He achieved this milestone within a single year, scaling six peaks in 1983: Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus, Mount Vinson, and Mount Kosciuszko.

After Spending over 7 decades in the world of climbing, Fred passes way at the age of 94, in Seattle.

The documentary is a great way to watch the failure, achieving and learnings from the life of the dirt bag legend.
