Hurray! 🤩
Mari Kanstad Johnsen is awarded the Versele Prize!

The prestigious prize, Best Children’s book in the French language 2023 (age 7+), goes to Mari Kanstad Johnsen for the magical picture book "3-2-1" 👏

Quote from the jury:
"Her daring line emerges on each page in a profusion of details, an apparently out of place line, unexpected perspectives, characters with elastic shapes, original colors. An ultra-modern style to address consumerism, the relationship to money, rivalries, the meaning given to work, vacations."

We are so proud!

What a wonderful review of the Swedish edition of Gunnhild Øyehaugs novel "Knots" in the Sweedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter:

«Few can draw the reader in and twist around perspectives like her. [...] A concise summary of the reading experience. You are spun around and sent away and lose control. Amazingly, you land with yourself afterwards. Slightly freer, and in a good mood. Possibly with a few knots fewer." Anna Hallberg, Dagens Nyheter

Geir Tangens latest critically acclaimed crime novel "Dog Days" is sold to the fantastic Danish publisher Straarup & Co 🥳 Hurray!

It's a story about power and powerlessness in intimate relationships, about violence and manipulation, about what grinds us down and how even our humanity can be put at stake when the ground crumbles beneath our feet.

We are happy to announce that the thrilling, exciting and original children's novel "Noor and the Miniature", written by storytelling talent Julia Kahrs, has been sold to the Danish publisher Straarup & Co - even before the book was out in Norway!

Straarup publishing has since earlier also bought the rights to Julia Kahrs previous award winning novel "The Storm is Coming".
Congratulations to Julia!🥳

About "Noor and the Miniature":
On just another day, Noor discovers something pretty unusual in the cellar: a miniature version of herself! Why on earth has Noor got a miniature?

But perhaps this is precisely what she needs, because on top of her annoying classmates and huge amounts of homework, Noor has managed to sign up for the school’s Christmas show – not that she has a clue what she’s going to perform. And when circumstances surrounding the Christmas show turn unexpectedly shady and dangerous, having a sneaky miniature on your side turns out to be a good thing.

Hurray! Zeshan Shakars critically acclaimed novel «They Call Me The Wolf» was recently sold to the Swedish publisher by pre-empt, and then also sold to after a tight Danish auction.

"This is fantastic," says Zeshan Shakar, who has just won the Norwegian Booksellers' Prize for the novel. "It's particularly cool to see that the story is also relevant outside of Norway, which is not a given."
🎉🎉🎉
«They Call Me The Wolf» is a wise and moving examination of culture, history, family, identity and masculinity. It’s a novel about being a man from two countries, about having a mother from Finnmark and a father from Pakistan. It’s about being a parent, about the housing market, and about childhood. And it’s about survival and being hungry like a wolf.

Gørja seems to be a completely ordinary place, with a school, a shop and a kiosk. But there are also secrets in Gørja that the adults cannot – or will not – explain. ✨ NORLA has selected three titles from Gyldendal as this autumn's focus titles! We are so happy to present these amazing books:
🌟
One’s Own Children by Trude Marstein. A novel about ambitions and disappointments, pretensions and revelations. About our search for belonging and meaning, for intoxication and transgression. About children and the power one has – and doesn’t have – over them; about responsibility and a longing for freedom. And about the joy and love that arrives in flashes, almost at random.
🌟
Trying and Failing by Jan Grue. A novel about an almost completely normal couple. Like all parents of young children, Magne and Hannah have their challenges, but with Magne in a wheelchair even a trip to the beach at Huk turns into a gruelling odyssey. In spite of his master’s degree in literary science, Magne has a poorly paid job as a hotel receptionist. But with his visible disability, he is at least a welcome expression of the hotel chain’s benevolence and its diversity policy.
🌟
Vilde’s Drawer by Nina Anderson Sjødal. How do you hide the fact that everything’s wrong at home from your best friend? Is it possible to avoid telling the truth to the person who knows you best?
Vilde’s Drawer is a warm, charming children’s book about friendship, lies and things that are difficult to talk about.
