«Optimist» is a classic Norwegian pop song recorded by the late legend Jahn Teigen in 1989.
Now a new version, performed by some of the most talented artists from our region, is to be released on Wednesday 19th.
Violinst Ola Kvernberg’s project "Steamdome” is now realesed and available on all platforms. This rhythmical machine featuring three drummers, two organs, bass, guitars and violin is definitely one of the craziest and most ambitious recordings ever being done at Ocean Sound. Coming out of Ola’s work with music for movies, this steam engine of a group is painting wide horizons with it’s cinematic music. Premiered at Trondheim Jazz Festival and played at Molde Int. Jazzfestival and recorded at Ocean Sound in February. Steamdome, featuring Ola Kvernberg, Erik Nylander, Børge Fjordheim, Hans Hulbækmo, Nikolai Hængsle Eilertsen, Øyvind Blomstrøm and Daniel Buner Formo is a "must hear" and nothing less but a true masterpiece!
Ola Kvernberg Official is back at Ocean Sound! Last time around he immersed himself in gears, mechanics and ticking movements in the ambitious project Mechanical Fair. Now it’s the steam engine’s turn. Steamdome is a name that smacks of Dickens and Livingstone, fog, opium and a sweaty, panting locomotive headed for the heart of darkness.
But when all’s said and done this is all about music. Steamdome is intensely percussive with no fewer than three drummers who ensure the boiler never runs cold. And with organ, fiddles, guitars, and bass on top, it gets red-hot in the wagon.
Ole Kvernberg – fiddle, viola, guitar, Øyvind Blomstrøm – guitar, Daniel Buner Formo – organ, Nikolai Hængsle Eilertsen – bass, Erik Nylander – drums, Hans Hulbækmo – drums, Børge Fjordheim – drums
This big guy has been hangin' round the studio for some days now. What should we call him? The Eagle of Death Metal? Eddie The Eagle? The Eagle? Shot by Lars K. Hustoft (camera, not a gun).
@john_talabot and @pional came all the way from Barcelona and Madrid to tear up the studio.
The Devil and the Almighty Blues. Ooohh...this is good!
