Simax Classics is all about musical adventures on record, about creating the optimal arena for the work, the performance and the listener to meet – and make music happen. udiences all over the world. Since its first release in 1978, Simax Classics has presented repertoire from composers in the western classical tradition. We give our listeners the highest quality recordings of the finest performances. The activity and quality of Norwegian musicians has seen a tremendous upswing during these years – a development of which we are extremely proud to be a part. The Artists
We have had the opportunity to introduce both young new artists and new music to the international scene together with releases of historical recordings from great artists of the past. The catalogue includes such acclaimed artists as Tine Thing Helseth, Truls Mørk, Arve Tellefsen, Mariss Jansons, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Håkon Austbø, Boris Berezovsky, the Grieg Trio, Leif Ove Andsnes, Iona Brown, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Thomas Dausgaard, Kirsten Flagstad, Phantasm and Vertavo, to mention but a few. Recent highlights include violinist G**o Kleven Hagen, tenor Bror Magnus Tødenes, pianist Christian Ihle Hadland and the chamber orchestra 1B1. The Repertoire
Scandinavian classical music in general, and Norwegian in particular, is a natural part of our catalogue of both orchestral and chamber music. Of course the well-known names like Grieg, Svendsen, Tveitt, Halvorsen and Sæverud, but also new discoveries like Kjerulf, Tellefsen, Freithoff, Borgstrøm, Selmer, Fliflet Bræin, Berlin, Monrad Johansen and Elling. World premiere recordings of Nordic repertoire are to be found in the series Nordic Edition. Of equal interest are releases of Beethoven (the complete orchestral works with Dausgaard/SwCO/Berezovsky), Mahler with Jansons/OPO, Vivaldi, Debussy, Mozart, Ysaÿe, Presti, Bach and Purcell, which also include world premiere recordings. The Sound
The Simax Classics audio philosophy is directly related to our in-depth knowledge and love of classical music both as performers and avid listeners. We have always let our ears and hearts – rather than static technical models – lead us in our work. Special care for those all-important nuances of colour, image depth, instrumental balance and dynamics is the foundation of the Simax sound. The best technology around – whether old or new – in the hands of the finest engineers and music producers is our means to this end. Whether surround sound, stereo or archive mono recordings: we put the listener directly where he wants to be – and the music happens.
