This morning I went to Rotterdam for the World port Days 2024. The Dutch navy was demonstrating some capabilities including the use of a DHC NH90 helicopter. A different background than usual.

Today Cougar S-445 was working together with the Airmobile Brigade in training new recruits during their Basic Helicopter Training.

This afternoon 5 EC-145 helicopters from HSG64 of the German Air Force flew a trainings mission together with a Cougar of 300 squadron of the Dutch Air Force. Both units have the task to work together with Special Forces. Today they practiced a Car Blocking Operation at the Ginkelse Hei. Two helicopters were providing overwatch while the others brought in the ground troops to catch the "villain". Unfortunately the sun had just disappeared behind a large cloud.

Last Friday I joined the base visit organized by Spotting Group Volkel to witness the last Elephant Walk of 312 Squadron "Sons of Bonzo. Despite the weather, I had a nice day and was able to snap some nice photos.

Busy with the digitalization of my old slide collection and bumped into this shot. Not the most spectacular or high quality shot, but man, the memories that pop up, priceless.....
1984, Ramstein Open House my first RS coded Phantom with Vietnam style camo and full color shark mouth during my first airshow outside The Netherlands. With my family, I was 17 at that moment, we went on summer holidays to Switzerland and I has arranged a stopover to visit the airshow. I had my first SLR camera, a Pentax MG with a Panagor 80-200 f5.6 lens, not the best quality and not ideal for static shots. So glad I kept the photo despite the flaws from being unexperienced. Great memories.

Even though the weather was pretty sh...., I had to get out when I saw the D-480 approach a landing zone near my house. The first photo's of 2023 are logged, hopefully a lot will follow! Tried a shutterspeed of 1/25th of a second and happy with the result.

Working on some old files. In the 90's I have also been shooting on black and white film. This shot was made at Stargard AB in Poland during the withdrawal of the based Su27 regiment. The crew chief in the foreground shows the size of these machines!

A bigger contrast between two based aircraft at Tatoi is impossible. I have already shared the Dromader with it's rugged style and big radial engine. The other based type is this Tecnam P-2002, plastic fantastic with a lawnmower engine. These little birds have replaced the Cessna 150 fleet in the Greek Air Force.

In the end of March I made a quick trip to Greece. This included a visit to the airforce museum at Tatoi where you can also take photosmof the locally based aircraft. The PZL M18B Dromader is used for fire fighting.

The newest kid on the block is the F-026. It came in fresh from the Cameri factory last Friday, landing on runway 23 at Leeuwarden. This airframe will relocate to Volkel to join 313 squadron later.

Still getting used the new looks of the F-35 in Dutch service. A bit dull without squadron markings and one tone grey, but with a dark sky as background and sun on the aircraft I can get used to it (I think).

The end of an era. Today was the last flight of a The Boeing Company Chinook D-model of 298 Sqn RNLAF Defensie Helikopter Commando. There was an opportunity created to make some photos. Special thanks to MAOT DHC for making this possible.

Last Friday was the fini-flight of The Boeing Company CH-47D Chinook D-665 of 298 Sqn RNLAF Defensie Helikopter Commando. All last three operational D-models came to the heath near Ede. Initially D-101 and D-665 landed for a short stop, but a minor issue with D-665 lead to the arrival of D-667 bringing some techies and a spare part. This cleared the issue and all three helicopters were able to return to Gilze Rijen to start the weekend.

Today, CH-47F CAAS D-472 from Defensie Helikopter Commando 298 Sqn RNLAFcame to visit the Ginkelse Heide to train with the people from 11 Bevoorradings Compagnie Luchtmobiel. In two waves they brought equipment and cargo from the southern to the northern part of the training area.

Yesterday I went to the Ginkelse Heide in Gemeente Ede to witness the annual remembrance of the operation . A variety of Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules planes were dropping paratroopers from various countries.
