US F-35 $403.000 Pilots helmet, Why Are They So Expensive ?

The high cost of the F-35 pilot's helmet, which is estimated to be around $400,000, is primarily due to its advanced technology and capabilities. Here are some factors that contribute to its high price tag:

Integrated Systems: The F-35 helmet is not just a piece of protective gear; it's a highly advanced system that integrates with the aircraft's sensors, cameras, and targeting systems. It provides the pilot with a comprehensive augmented reality display that overlays critical information onto their field of view. This integration requires sophisticated engineering and development, which adds to the cost.

Helmet-Mounted Display: The helmet features a high-resolution display system that allows pilots to see vital flight data, weapon targeting information, and even live video feeds from external sources. This technology requires precision optics, advanced electronics, and high-quality materials to ensure clarity and reliability in various conditions, including high-speed flight and combat situations.

Sensor Fusion: The helmet incorporates sensor fusion technology, which combines data from multiple onboard sensors, including radar, infrared sensors, and cameras, to provide the pilot with a comprehensive situational awareness. This capability enhances the pilot's ability to detect and track targets, navigate in complex environments, and make informed decisions during missions.

Durability and Safety Standards: Military equipment, including pilot helmets, must meet rigorous durability and safety standards to withstand the harsh conditions of combat operations. The F-35 helmet is designed to provide protection against impact, fire, and other hazards while remaining lightweight and comfortable for extended use.

Research and Development Costs: The development of the F-35 program, including its associated equipment like the pilot's helmet, involved extensive research, testing, and engineering efforts over many years. These costs are factored into the final price of the equipment.

Overall, the high cost of the F-35 pilot's helmet reflects the advanced technology, capabilities, and stringent requirements associated with modern military aviation. While the price may seem steep, it's a necessary investment to ensure the safety and effectiveness of pilots operating cutting-edge aircraft like the F-35.

THE TYPE 99(A)

The Type 99A also called Type 99A2 or ZTZ-99A MBT (Main Battle Tank) is an improved version of the Type 99 MBT designed and manufactured in China by the local defense industry. The development of Type 99 started in 1999, and the tank entered service with the Chinese army in 2001. The first prototype of the Type 99A was tested in 2007, and it was unveiled for the first time in September 2015 during a military parade in Beijing. It was used previously by the Chinese army during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) military exercises in 2014. It is a third-generation main battle tank and the most modern tank in service with the Chinese armed forces. The third generation indicates the capacity of hunter-killer capability using a commander independent sight.

The M198 155mm howitzer is a towed field artillery piece of a split trail carriage design. The M198 is equipped with a double baffle muzzle brake and a variable length hydropneumatic recoil mechanism. The M198 is transported trail first, with the gun suspended over a single pair of traveling wheels. While deployed forward for firing and transportation, for storage, the gun can be rotated 180 degrees (over the trail).

When fired, the howitzer is not anchored, but rather, rests on the traveling wheels. The M198 cannot be fired while "limbered" (in traveling configuration), but rather, must be emplaced. The M198 does not have a splinter shield, and there is no option to attach one. The breech is a manually operated screw type mechanism. The M198 fires non-fixed (separate projectile and propellant) ammunition and can be loaded with a variable number of propellant bags. The M198 is capable of providing fire support in both indirect and direct fire capacities

What about this classic beast?
Share your thoughts with us!

The Tiger II tank is one of the largest and heaviest German tanks that went into full production during the Second World War. It was built predominantly in 1944 and 1945, with only one prototype model making an appearance in 1943.

The Tiger II is a behemoth piece of military weaponry. With a weight of almost 70 tons, and a massive 88 millimeter cannon, this tank was more than worthy of the nickname that Allied soldiers bestowed upon it; The King Tiger. Officially designated the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausfuhrung B, the Tiger featured thick, (3.9-7.3 inches) sloping armor on three sides. The strength of this armored necessitated that Allied forces attack the Tiger II from its flank if they wanted to destroy it, which required an incredibly cautious approach. The Tiger II was capable of destroying Allied military equipment from over a mile and a half (2.4 km) away.

Facts and Figures

The Tiger II measured 24 feet, 3 inches (7.4 meters) in length without counting the forward mounted gun. If the massive forward mounted cannon is factored into this measurement, the King Tiger reached a massive 33 feet, 9 inches in length (10.3 meters).

In addition to the massive 88mm cannon, the Tiger II also was equipped with a secondary armament of two MG-34 machine guns, and 5,850 rounds of ammunition for these MG-34s

This thing was MASSIVE but highly complicated to repair and operate.. But when this tank was operational it’s a killing machine!
