After booking a Cocktail Walk, participants receive a road map to three cocktail bars where they can enjoy a unique cocktail or mocktail. CAFÉ POMPETTE

Café Pompette has been on many people’s “must-visit” and “favourites” lists over the past two years, and it’s not just because of the warm, multilayered setup and decorative ornaments on the walls. Owner and chef Remco van de Lagemaat, who has run multiple successful restaurants in Rotterdam, is no stranger to foodies. His passion for cooking, beautiful products, and French cuisine seeps through every dish on the regularly changing menu.

TO THE BONE

In Rotterdam, there’s a museum dedicated to the Marine Corps. Next to objects telling the history, there are changing exhibitions. Photographer Rob Poortvliet was given the special privilege to be present at the training of new naval infantry soldiers. Camouflaged in military attire, he was present at the barracks as well as missions, allowing him to create a unique series about perseverance and camaraderie.

LE PETITJEAN

Le Petitjean is the patisserie of chef Maurice Petitjean. At his first location on Zomerhofstraat, he sold out every day, with people lining up for his perfect croissants and other French pastries. He is now located in the trendy Station Bergweg where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a mouthwatering croissant, pain au chocolat, or the most beautiful typical French pastries. Think of flan, forêt noire, tartelette au citron, macaron framboise, and so much more. They are all masterpieces to look at, but at least as delicious to eat!

When pilates meets fitness, PLTS happens. The workout and special machines came to Rotterdam from Los Angeles. An intense workout for body and mind, PLTS makes you forget all your worries and focus fully on your body. The aim is to train the whole body, with a focus on the core, posture, flexibility and controlled breathing. Despite specialised equipment, the workouts are open for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes.

Dudok In Het Park

In the middle of het Park, there's a second branch of the Rotterdam Dudok family. A very stately one! Located in a national monument, it's a worthwhile visit to have a drink or lunch after a relaxing stroll. The Dudok breakfast plank is delicious, or enjoy the typical "12 o'clock treat soup, egg salad and bread with a croquette. Of course, you'll also find their famous apple pie on the menu. Besides that, Dudok has two beautiful halls for private and business events. Think weddings, receptions, parties, meetings and private dining in one of the most historical buildings in town.

Gieterij ‘t Swaentje is one of those brown cafés you almost thought no longer existed. Friends sit quietly playing billiards, regulars share the latest neighbourhood gossip and discuss the local football, students raise their glasses while grabbing the baskets of free chips, and a businesswoman checks the latest mails on her laptop. There’s a small selection of food and snacks, like sausage from a local butcher. In the evening, you can order a larger meal such as satay.

The Candlelight Concerts are a unique series of original music concerts all over the world, with the goal of democratizing access to classical music. This innovative idea presents a unique live music experience through a diverse range of programs for all tastes, played by local musicians in several beautiful venues lit by thousands of candles.

Originally, Candlelight Concerts by Fever was reserved for classical music, with concerts dedicated to the works of best composers, such as Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin. Today, however, our music list has expanded to include many different themes and genres, including tributes to contemporary artists such as Queen, ABBA, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. Also, concerts dedicated to anime, movie soundtracks and other interesting themes now rule the roost.

Candlelight concerts have since lit their candles in more than 150 cities around the world, and to date millions of visitors have been enchanted. In Rotterdam there will be performances in the Laurenskerk, the SS Rotterdam and the Arminiuskerk in November and December this year.

The new restaurant ‘t Slaakhuys inside Fletcher Boutique Hotel Slaak-Rotterdam is now open, in the former editorial office of a daily newspaper. While some original elements remain, the interior has been given a modern and warm look, featuring graffiti by well-known Rotterdam artist Marcel Labrie.

The kitchen, under the wing of star chef Tonny Berentsen, offers a gastronomic experience. Guests will find surprising dishes such as a luxurious version of the local dish kapsalon with rendang and macadamia nuts, as well as timeless classics like poached lobster.

The location of Krozant is somewhat hidden in the parking garage of the Groothandelsgebouw, but this place is no longer a secret. Lovers of good croissants (“krozant” is how we pronounce this in real Rotterdam dialect) all know how to find this hidden gem.

The croissants and other changing pastries are handmade, and you can enjoy the feeling of a theatre by watching this happening live through the window. The almond croissant was a 10! A crispy croissant with a good coffee to go, and nothing will stop you from having a fantastic day.

Rotterdam residents and visitors can now enjoy a new green haven in the heart of the city with Maaskant Park, located in the courtyard of the Groot Handelsgebouw (GHG), an architectural icon of Rotterdam’s post-war reconstruction built in 1953.

The park occupies the space that was once an elevated street for delivery trucks accessing the building. Named after one of the historic building’s architects, Huig Maaskant, this green oasis offers a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle.

Rotterdam has gained a hotspot with the opening of Heart Melt Bar. This new cocktail bar, an initiative of Robertino Goncalves and Abdelhak Badrane, promises to melt hearts with its unique blend of innovative cocktails and tropical bites.

Below the bar is a lab where unique ingredients for the cocktails and bites are created, incorporating aphrodisiacs such as honey, basil and ginger to stimulate the senses. Guests can also enjoy a cosy terrace, perfect for staying until the wee hours of the morning.
