Shaded Moon Entertainment is very excited an honored to announce that they will release the European edition of the new MinstreliX album "Minstrelics" in July/August 2024. The album will contain a exclusive bonus track.

𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐗 is one of the leading bands in the melodic power metal scene. "Minstrelics" is their sixth album, and is released to celebrate their 20th anniversary!

The band was formed in Osaka in 2004 by guitarist Takao and vocalist Leo Figaro, and will release their sixth new album in 2024, which will mark their 20th anniversary! Their dramatic, symphonic, and neo-classical speed metal has been extremely popular in the scene, attracting fans of hard rock/heavy metal, game music, and anime music alike! Their third album "Tales Of Historia" and their 4th album "Chronostrings" ranked both highly on the Oricon Indie Album Chart. The album in question, "Minstrelics", is titled after the band's name, which is a reflection of the band's pride in the album. Starting with the dramatic, fast-paced "Destiny～The Goddess Pt.3～", followed by "Silhouette of Time" and the 11-minute, dramatic, fast-paced masterpiece "Gathering Under the Same Sky", the album is packed with impressive songs that take the band's musical style to the next level. With leader and guitarist Takao at the center the album is full of melodic, dramatic, and progressive power metal! This album also shows a variety of expressions, including a folk metal song titled "Sake Banquet". The bonus track has still to be determined, but it's an exclusive for the European version of this album.

Different Light are still working hard to finish the recordings for the 'Binary suns - part 2' album. I'll keep you updated and soon there will be some more samples.

In the meantime I can tell you that I am working on a very cool project. Contract negotiations are now underway and I hope it will be possible to announce as soon as possible from which Japanese band Shaded Moon will release the European version of their new album.

It would be a huge honor and the realization of a long-standing dream if this were to happen. Thank you very much Jien for making the contact and the guidance.

Het gerucht gaat dat Galaxy in oktober 2024 op het Northern Prog Festival in Siegerwoude (Friesland) zal optreden. Op dit festival treden 4 bands op één dag op. Omdat het festival wordt georganiseerd door de leden van de band Leap Day, zullen zij uiteraard ook optreden. Vorig jaar bedroeg de toegangsprijs 35 euro.

Wij zijn benieuwd of onze volgers een toegangskaartje kopen als Galaxy inderdaad op dit mooie festival zal optreden. En wat vind je van de entreeprijs van € 35,- voor 4 bands? Is dit prima, te hoog of is een hogere prijs acceptabel?

There is a rumor that Galaxy will perform at the Northern Prog Festival in Siegerwoude (Friesland) in October 2024. At this festival, 4 bands perform in one day. Because the festival is organized by the members of the band Leap Day, they will of course also perform. The entrance fee last year was 35 Euro.

We are curious whether our followers will purchase an entrance ticket if 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐱𝐲 will indeed perform at this beautiful festival. And what do you think of the entrance fee of EUR 35 for 4 bands? Is this fine, too high or could the price even be higher?

On the 29th of February 2024 the Czech prog rock band Different Light will release the single ‘A Fool’s Errand’. The band has made an accompanying video for this single. They tried to keep it personal and as a kind of short retrospective of the band.

‘A Fool’s Errand’ is taken from the band’s forthcoming album titled ‘Binary Suns Part 2 - Alternate Reality’. After their former label Progressive Gears stopped activity Different Light found a new home at at Shaded Moon Entertainment. The follow-up to their 2020 album ‘Binary Suns Part 1 - Operant Condition’ will be released in early summer 2024 on this Dutch record label. With the album having exactly the same band line-up for subsequent albums for the first time ever.

Different Light were formed in Malta at the end of 1994. Since then they have released four albums, an EP and a compilation. Since 2008 Trevor moved to Prague (Czech Republic). The band sold CDs in over 30 countries around the world and was downloaded numerous times and streamed on Spotify, iTunes, Youtube etc.

Vandaag is het alweer een jaar geleden dat "Runaway Men" is uitgebracht. Tot ons plezier is het album een onverwacht succes geworden. Vele mooie recensies vlogen ons om de oren en ook de optredens worden zeer goed ontvangen. Geweldig om te zien dat zoveel mensen het album kunnen waarderen. Het mooiste is natuurlijk dat Galaxy weer bij elkaar is en dat er zelfs aan het schrijven van nieuw materiaal wordt gedacht.

Deze eerste verjaardag laten we natuurlijk niet ongemerkt voorbij gaan. Ter ere hiervan geven we een LP en een CD weg. Hoe kan je een exemplaar in je bezit krijgen? Ja, daar moet je wel iets voor doen. Ten eerste "Like" de Galaxy pagina, deel dit bericht en beantwoord de volgende vragen; "Wat is je favoriete nummer van het album en waarom?" en "In welke zaal/ plaats wil je dat het volgende Galaxy optreden plaatsvindt?".

Uit de antwoorden trekken we een winnaar van een LP en een winnaar van een CD. De winnaars worden vrijdag 2 juni bekend gemaakt.

Today it's been a year since "Runaway Men" was released. To our delight, the album turned out to be an unexpected success. Many nice reviews were published and the performances are also very well received. Great to see that so many people can appreciate the album. The best part is, of course, that Galaxy is back together and that the band is even thinking about writing new material.

Of course we will not let this first anniversary pass unnoticed. In honor of this we are giving away an LP and a CD. How can you obtain a copy? Yes, you have to do something for that. Firstly "Like" the Galaxy page, share this post and answer the following questions; "What's your favorite song from the album and why?"and "What venue/place would you like the next Galaxy gig to be in?".

From the answers we draw a winner of an LP and a winner of a CD. The winners will be announced on Friday the 2nd of June.

Galaxy

De nieuwe Nederlandse belofte van seizoen 2022/2023 trekt de zaal zo vol als hij zal worden op de zondag van Progdreams. Het verhaal van die vijfentwintig jaar oude plaat die dan tóch werd uitgebracht maakt nieuwsgierig. Evenals deze nieuwe muzikale omgeving rondom zanger Bart Schwertmann, die met zijn stem de laatste Kayak-formatie tot nieuwe hoogte wist te doen stijgen. Kortom, zaaltje gezellig vol, gunfactor alom aanwezig, de belofte van een integrale uitvoering, vinyl en cd’tjes mooi uitgestald; wat kan er nog misgaan?

Een van de eerste dingen die opvalt is dat het speelplezier en de individuele klasse van Schwertmann als zanger zich ook naadloos vertaalt naar zijn werk als bassist. Natuurlijk neemt dit ook wat ruimte in, zo zonder handen vrij, maar het is tijdens de instrumentale stukken echt een verrijking. Met name wanneer hij ingewikkelde riffjes met gitarist Niels Linkbeek doubleert, ontstaat er een heerlijk opzwepende klank. Laatstgenoemde speelt ook verdienstelijk gitaar met mooie solo’s, al klinkt de gitaar een tikkeltje snerpend. Dit kan een keuze zijn, want je hoort eigenlijk wel goed wat hij écht speelt aan melodische solo’s. Tijdens de begeleidende partijen roept de band associaties op met Queensryche, Journey en zelfs het Nederlandse Marathon. Toetsenist Ard Offers staat er als een vrolijke makelaar bij achter de keyboards, hij mag het ontroerend goed verzorgen van de muziek. Dit doet hij met herkenbare en geliefde neo-prog klanktapijten, waarin ook ruimte is voor Marillion-achtige, tot bezinning oproepende ernst.
Galaxy draait echter niet om drama, de band is vrijwel altijd aan het opbouwen richting dat catchy, opluchtende refrein. Het laatste nummer, Runaway Man, is het meest gelaagd en bevlogen. Hiermee laat de band zien dat hij ook met een langere, broeierige opbouw veel te bieden heeft. Een ander opvallend nummer uit de setlist is het instrumentale Gallery Play, aangekondigd als een nummer dat voor de band een hele kluif is om te spelen. Ook hierin weet de band een feestje te maken van progressieve hardrock door ritmisch te pompen, van muzikale scènes te wisselen en de verschillende instrumenten een voor een naar de voorgrond te brengen. Ook sluipt er zo nu en dan een beetje Deep Purple & Rainbow- achtige rock ‘n roll – of zeg gerust gewoon seks – de muziek in.

Dus. Wat kan er nog misgaan? Helemaal niets. Galaxy is een progfeestje, een totaal niet pretentieuze, noch bijzonder originele, maar zeer genietbare symfonische rockband met de klemtoon op rock. Rock als in energie, energie en stralend tonen wat je kan. Zet je ze in de biertent op het lokale dorpsfeest van Lutjebroek, dan zullen ze ook daar voor een nietsvermoedend poppubliek gewoon een deuk in een pakkie boter slaan, gok ik zo. Als ik thuis het “Runaway Men” album luister dan groeit wel meteen het verlangen naar een cd van de integrale live-uitvoering van dit album. Met de jaren is de zang van Schwertmann nog wel iets indrukwekkender geworden en ook de enthousiaste podiumdynamiek van de band verdient het om eens zorgvuldig ingeblikt te worden. Mocht de band ook in de studio opnieuw toeslaan, dan zouden de internationale podia toch binnen bereik moeten zijn.
