We proudly present you with one of the winners of this year’s edition:

EMILE PISON
1999, Belgium

“For over a decade, photography has consumed me, driven by an unrelenting desire to create. Four years ago, I expanded my practice by embracing artificial intelligence as a tool, a shift inspired by personal mental health challenges and a longing to give shape to my inner fantasies. AI has become a means for me to push past the barriers that previously constrained my traditional photographic process.

With AI, I can inhabit multiple roles—photographer, set designer, stylist, casting director, and location scout—all at once. It enables me to bring ideas to life that might otherwise be trapped in the limitations of conventional techniques. My work seeks to challenge the misconception that AI art lacks effort or authenticity. Instead, I see it as a transformative tool for artists facing internal or external constraints, unlocking new ways to create and express.”

“Explaining my imagery in words feels almost impossible. My work is an extension of my inner world—a reflection of solitude, melancholy, fragility, and the isolation that has defined my life and the socio-phobia that has followed me for years. I am drawn to grainy films and textures; they bring an added depth to my photographs. For me, taking a picture feels like writing a poem—a visual expression of emotions that words can't capture.”

MELANIE BOSBOOM

1971, The Netherlands

Melanie's work explores the interplay between self, environment, and the transformative potential of vulnerability. In her studio, she employs photography as a medium to create intimate sketches using her own body and attributes. Photography becomes a tool for rapid translation, capturing fleeting moments that allow her to break free from prejudices and embrace the full spectrum of human experience.

For Melanie, creating images is an act of silent expression—a way to exist in the world without overtly occupying space. Her work is deeply intertwined with her own existence and her relationship to others and the environment, forming an ongoing investigation into ways of "being" and how the self interacts with its surroundings.

FRANCESCA DINI

1980, Italy

Francesca's work delves into the theme of freedom—the freedom to be oneself and the freedom of choice. Although seemingly simple, this concept carries profound significance in her life. For years, Francesca felt constrained by societal expectations of what she should be, struggling to meet the idealized standards of womanhood imposed upon her. Through photography, particularly self-portraiture, she found a way to break free from these expectations, embracing her true nature and reclaiming her identity.

In her series, Francesca explores the interplay between self and nature, blending self-portraits with natural elements like earth, stones, and trees. Nature, with its renewing power, becomes a source of inner balance and healing. For Francesca, self-portraiture is an act of solitude and reflection—a space to confront fears and limitations while striving to transcend them.

MASHA FURSOVA

1990

Her work centers on a deep fascination with the beauty of women, exploring body language and the shapes of the human form. A significant part of their artistic practice involves working with nudity, celebrating the female body as an art form and a boundless source of inspiration. Through their lens, Behram seeks to liberate women from sexualized stereotypes, portraying the body not as an object of desire but as a vessel of inner power, energy, and aesthetic expression.

Their photographs emphasize purity of composition and unique storytelling, often rendered in black and white to distill the essence of their vision. This minimalist approach invites the viewer to engage with the deeper narratives and emotions embedded within the frame, free from distraction.

To Behram, photography is a means of seeking truth—not merely the truth of daily facts, but something deeper, something more essential and enduring.

MIRJAM HUISMAN

1974, The Netherlandshuisman

The project Mustangs draws from personal coming-of-age experiences, rooted in the photographer's upbringing in the small Dutch town of De Veluwe. Each image in the series is captured in this environment, creating a narrative that is intentionally open-ended, inviting viewers to construct their own stories.

Her work focuses on snapshots from the lives of young people and members of subcultures. These images feel like fragments of films—staged yet spontaneous, fictional portraits where the models take on roles but are given space for improvisation. This approach blurs the line between fiction and reality, capturing moments that are both intimate and raw.

Inspired by an enduring fascination with outsiders, music, and cinema, their work is shaped by a distinctive atmosphere that leads each image. The result is a style that is cinematic, fragmentary, and imbued with a fashionable sensibility.

MARCO BARTOLOZZI

1978, Italy

"Lost at Sea" is a photographic investigation of the silent waiting for life to return to coastal resorts, as well as a reflection on the beauty and tranquillity of these places now stripped of their summer chaos. In his photographs, he shows the metamorphosis of noisy and populated places into spaces of solitude and serenity. The sea is the silent protagonist that links the different moments of the project, symbolizing the cyclical nature of time. Each shot represents a window of time, inviting the viewer to reflect on the metaphysical dimension of time and waiting dimension of time and waiting, in which one can get lost, but also find oneself when it all opens up again.

TESS DE BOER

1991, The Netherlandsde.boer

A freelance art director specializing in creative direction within the fashion industry, she crafts impactful concepts by closely observing and reflecting on social and political paradigm shifts. Her practice is guided by the desire to echo contemporary and global voices, ensuring her work resonates with the ever-changing cultural landscape.

Since 2019, she has explored the intersection of fashion, psychology, and environmental awareness through analogue photography, engaging in a dialogue with the rapidly evolving world. Using film as a medium, she captures poetic landscapes, otherworldly compositions, and delicate gestures—both human and non-human. Her lens often conveys a sense of grief for what teeters on the edge of loss. Through her photography, she documents these fleeting phenomena as active participants within their natural habitats, emphasizing their agency, sensorial power, and semiotic significance.

Her ongoing autonomous project delves into themes of solastalgia, ecosemiotics, and the geographic entity of Iceland, creating a poignant visual narrative grounded in environmental and emotional awareness.

MARYNA SYROVATKA

1977, Ukraine

A Ukraine-born photographer now based in Slovakia, she began her artistic journey later in life, transitioning from a successful career as a lawyer to pursue her passion for storytelling through images.

Her self-guided education in photography, which began in 2018, was shaped by participation in workshops and mentorship programs with renowned artists such as Nadav Kander, Andreas Bitesnich, Sergei Sarakhanov, and Jonas Bendiksen. Her fascination with analog filmmaking and darkroom techniques—skills she first learned from her parents—sparked a lifelong enchantment with the magic of film, a medium that continues to influence her work.

MARINA BOCHETTI

1977, Italy

She imagines visions and strives to capture them in photographs that preserve their memory forever. For her, an image is memory—a blend of joy and pain, remembrance and new hope.

Photography is a labor, often a challenging one, of self-reflection. It is her way of telling her story, a free expression of who she is, what she feels, and how she sees the world around her.

JULIA BERTERMANN

1987, Germanybert.fotografie

The pictures are part of a series that I called Eden and refer to binary gender concepts. I deal with questions of identities, gender, and power in relation to the body and how these are reflected in the photographic gaze. My approach is to formulate specific questions or problems by (actively) creating images: I make use of certain objects that trigger associations, break them up, and allow the viewer to link them anew. Basically, I only move in the world of objects, because bodies also become projection surfaces, representatives of body and gender concepts and social identities.

MARCO DE WAAL
1969, The Netherlands

Photography is a way to express myself creatively. My images are often intuitive, creative, raw, graphic and aesthetic with strong contrasts. Catching a moment, a raw emotion or a certain mood is what I find attractive and interesting about photography. The transfer of these impressions is what I strive for. I am fascinated by the play of light and shadows. Although the model plays a central role, for me it is about the power and expression of the entire image. Form and composition play an important role in my work.
