Our new album 'Intizar' is a very special collaboration between Iranian singer Mohammad Motamedi and the Dutch Rembrandt Trio, famous for their ventures into Middle-Eastern and Classical musical territory, playing on period instruments while taking their improvisational skills into new realms. Motamedi uses his extensive knowledge of the Persian literary canon to choose poems that he freely sings over the music, and the result is a beautiful mix of East and West, where improvisation is the common language.

This is 'Leila Khanem' by Mohammad Motamedi and Rembrandt Trio, our new single. Born from a very special collaboration between this popular Iranian vocalist and the curious Dutch jazz trio, Leila Khanem is a song we are releasing separately from their upcoming album 'Intizar', to be released in September. On 'Intizar' the Rembrandt Trio and Motamedi explore Iranian folk songs, larger compositions with strings and clarinet, and fully improvised pieces.

Angelo Verploegen ’s new album 'When Night Falls' is an ode to the night in all its forms; from dusk until dawn. Through his selection of jazz standards, he tries to capture the course of an evening - while limiting himself in terms of instrumentation, repertoire and recording technique, to evoke the narrow world of the night. Playing with Ed Verhoeff on guitar and Eric Van Der Westen on bass, Angelo Verploegen reunited a trio with more than twenty years of shared history behind them. The intimacy of that small ensemble suits the evening - through subtle playing that reflects a wealth of experience and attention, we witness a twilight conversation between three old friends, talking deep into the night.
