Tame Impala's 'The less I know the better' is a song about the bitter sweetness of an unanswered love. Kevin Parker, the mastermind behind Tame Impala, recounts an all-too familiar tale where the girl Kevin is pinning for has gotten involved with a guy named 'Trevor'.

The video clip is shot by Spanish directors Canada, who turn the tale into a technicolor trip. The highly psychedelic clip shows the high school basketball player in love with the pretty cheerleader. She instead chooses to be with the teams mascot Gorilla, naturally called 'Trevor'. Damn you, Trevor!

Kevin Parker himself expressed that the song: "shouldn't be on a Tame Impala album because it has this dorky, white disco funk." As it turns out, whether it fits Tame Impala or not, today the song is on of the most famous songs released by Tame Impala.

After struggling with substance abuse, country artist Johnny Cash, had faded into the background of pop music. However, during the mid-90s, Cash made a return to relevance with producer Rick Rubin. Largely recorded in Rubin's living room, the first, stripped-back album 'American Recordings' was released in 1994, re-establishing Cash as a creative force.

‘American IV: The Man Comes Around’ is a testament to the inimitable power of Johnny Cash. The album, predominantly filled with cover versions of songs from Depeche Mode to Sing, shows how Cash can flip any track on its head and make it its own.

'American IV' puts these songs into the context of Cash' old age, about his love for the love of his life, June Carter Cash. He expresses his lifelong love for her through the album. Sadly, June would pass away in May of 2003. Johnny's love for June was so great, that he died of heartbreak 5 months later, making 'American IV' the last album he would ever release.

During fall of 2010, a mysterious line of stickers and t-shirts started showing up with a photo of Thebe Kgositsile, more widely known as artist Earl Sweatshirt, with an upside-down cross on his forehead. The photo was captioned: "Missing: Have you seen me?"

, mostly fanned by artist (Tyler the Creator), became a piece of pop culture. It turned out that Earl wasn't technically missing, but his mom had send him away to a boys' camp/reform school. Earl became famous not just in his absence, but because of his absence.

He returned home in early 2012, with some great doubts on his mind. What happens if I get back. We can hear his doubt on major label debut 'Doris', during 'Chum' he mumbles: “Been back a week and I already feel like calling it quits”.

'Doris' would turn out to be an important album for the rest of the decade, presenting carefully curated artists that Earl himself picked. The many co-artists on 'Doris' would later turn out to be among the greatest artists of the 20s, pinpointing 'Doris' as a great precursor of modern rap music.

Queensbridge, 1994. Across the river from Manhattan, residents in America’s largest housing projects are fighting through unforgiving circumstances. Beginning in the 1980s, a dramatic influx of crack co***ne flooded the streets, leading to increased violence that caused residents to fear for their safety. For many aspiring artists, however, these chaotic surroundings become inspiration for burgeoning music careers.

Countless hip-hop pioneers — Marley Marl, Roxanne Shante and the late Prodigy, among others — have called this housing section their home, but on wax, it’s most closely associated with Nas, the living legend whose landmark debut Illmatic was released 25 years ago today (April 19).

Then and now, Illmatic serves as a time capsule, giving listeners a glimpse into the world of Queensbridge, painting a picture of the crime-riddled streets with clever wordplay and vivid storytelling.

Riding the crest of a wave, Drake had spent much of 2012 touring in support of Take Care, while also finding time to start the record label OVO Sound with his longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib, and embarking on sessions for his next album. With 40 once more handling production duties, alongside OVO Sound affiliates Boi-1da, Mike Zombie, and Majid Jordan, Nothing Was The Same became a darker affair than its predecessors. Over a set of songs that largely eschewed any pop affectations for a dense mix of eerie synths and street-tough trap beats, Drake, armed with an improved singing voice and peak-performance rapping skills, unleashed some of the most compelling and consistent vocal performances of his career.

Lead single “Started From The Bottom,” a brooding rags-to-riches affair replete with spectral piano lines and deep rumbling bass, presaged the new direction. “Wu-Tang Forever” continued the eerie tone with a sonic tribute to the Staten Island natives. Elsewhere, “Worst Behavior” featured one of Drake’s most menacing vocal turns over tense and scattershot beats, while the murky slowed-down samples, submarine sonics, and submerged trap beats of “305 To My City” sound like the song was recorded in the depths of the ocean.
