This is the most fun YouTube milestone I’m celebrating EVER because I haven’t uploaded any new videos in over a YEAR.

An entire freaking year.

During that year my channel gained an additional 3000+ subscribers thanks to all of my older videos.

I’ll be back to regular uploads over at Making it in Holland at some point this year, still haven’t decided.

Today was a weirdly productive day.

Also read: who am I?!!

🎉 Brand new mini YouTube course recorded (this one turned out waaay juicier than I expected). Already made 4 sales with literally zero official promotion yet.

🎉 New website design decisions (kinda) finalised - the perfectionist in me is REAL with this one.

🎉 Received all of the edited videos & images from the LIVE Amsterdam video marketing event last week.

🎉 Finalised YouTube thumbnail designs for two clients.

🎉 Decided on the location for the London video marketing event happening May 21st. Oh and completely SOLD OUT all event tickets.

🎉 Off to my first training session with my new personal trainer (seriously, at this point... again... who am I?!)

More productive days please.

I also can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow. 😂

The way I saw it, I had two options

1. Feel sorry for myself that I didn’t get a leading role and hide

2. Give people a show of a lifetime & overdeliver as if I was a lead

I did the second.

Every single time.

Unsure exactly where it came from, I was always wiser beyond my years.

Already as a teen, I knew that how you do anything is how you do everything.

Now I know you get to control the narrative of what happens in your life.

You have the power.

I changed the way I looked at my role.

I saw it as an incredible opportunity to put myself out there.

And that role instantly became something way bigger than it was.

It’s true.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Then something magical started to happen.

I started to get all the compliments on my stage presence.

People found me funny, hilarious, great, engaging…

And it ALL started with my own narrative.

It trickled down and also influenced other people’s view of me.

Next time you give a presentation online or offline OR you gotta show up on video…

Reframe your thinking.

Take control of the narrative.

Watch the magic unfold.

“You should keep speaking Dutch to only after work social events”

My heart felt like it was gonna sink to the bottom of my butt (and it did!)

My former “boss” lady just stared dead serious into my eyes and dragged me down into the darkness.

I just knew.

I was never gonna speak Dutch “perfectly” just the way Dutch people wanted me to.

I decided right then I was gonna hate her forever (and I did!)

And that hate was actually my first fuel to get to 6-figures of revenue in my business.

“You gotta use what you’ve got” I thought, to motivate myself.

Hate was all I had at that time.

If you speak different languages, maybe you can relate to this story.

Speaking another language and putting yourself out there is NOT easy.

Dutch is my third language, and I speak it a little slower and with an accent.

But I do want to speak it, because it’s important for me to articulate myself.

To be heard and understood.

After all, isn’t that what we all want?

In a similar way, if you’re a non-native English speaker (or any other language for that matter), feel like you have a bit of an accent or a speech impediment that makes you feel insecure…

Don’t let that stop you from showing up on video, sharing your message and connecting with people.

There are people out there who WANT to hear from you, and you’ll be a catalyst for their own positive change.

Of course as with anything, the “hate” only took me so far... I had to shift things around and find a more positive fuel if I wanted to succeed at a higher level.

This is a story for another day.

It’s official London Town, I’m coming back. I couldn’t stay away for longer than 6 months.

Hosting a 1 day event on May 21st on all things video marketing, we actually shoot some videos together on the day as well, so you don’t just learn the theory but walk away having implemented things.

Rebranding scaries. 👀

Woah this stuff is starting to look... REAL. R E A L.

Website updates with real SEO and all. Say whaaaat?!

100% tried & tested + refined offers presented on proper sales pages. Say whaaaat?!

Updated visual identity to keep things consistent for once. Say whaaat?!

Finally feeling like the business I wanted to run from day 1 but only took 5+ years of learning, trying, testing, failing (yep, there were many) COMING TO LIFE.
Say whaaat?! 🤯

Phew. Okay, now that I’m a little calmed down.

I gotta pick and decide on a release date.

What better date to launch than on May 4th... because May the fourth be with you? IYKYK. 😂

I guess this makes it public, and the countdown is on.

Time to make it happen. 🎉

I always work with coaches who practice what they teach.

And I always get the results I’m after.

Being in the online world of bro-marketers and get rich quick schemes, I realized this very soon ⬇️

Integrity is very important to me.

So as I was re-positioning myself late 2020, I had to make sure I’m doing things in alignment and making promises I know I can deliver to my clients.

It was a high integrity business or no business at all.

This is why I was in the trenches (spoiler alert: still am) to make sure I could make my YouTube channel Making it in Holland into an organically growing & revenue generating business of its own.

➡️ This is why I waited until after I hit the 2000 subscriber milestone before I could talk about how I can help others get to their first 500 or 1000 subscribers.

➡️ This is why I didn’t start to talk about brand deals and sponsorships until I secured my own & got paid for them.

➡️ This is why I didn’t talk about organic e-mail list growth on autopilot until I started to get subscribers of my own in my sleep (300 organic email subscribers in 2021)

➡️ This is why I was reluctant to talk about $10K months from YouTube in the early days - because I hadn’t yet achieved that milestone.

Here’s the thing... ⬇️

Blindly promising these (even though they could be feasible outcomes) without having been there myself, would have been out of integrity.

To me it’s so important that when you invest to work with someone, you’re learning from someone who’s continuously practicing (and improving) what they teach.

Here’s my promise to you: what you’ll learn from me will always be based on things I’ve extensively studied, tested, tried, experimented with & failed.

I say this from a place of transparency & certainty - not from a place of ego or hype.

So you can also write this with a fulfilled smile on your face “I always work with coaches who practice what they teach and I always get the results I’m after.”

Hello, my name is Gulce Onganer. I am a long time expat based in the Netherlands since 2004. Wow, that feels like an entire eternity away! I have lived in the Hague, Eindhoven and Rotterdam during this period, experiencing different parts of the country.
