Meet Mas van Putten and Carl Lemette Polhaupessy, the duo behind De Vrouw met de Baard. Both are chefs by background, but these days, Mas focuses on writing and researching for their upcoming book, while Carl handles photography. Together, they are on a journey to explore and share the rich culinary heritage of the Moluccan Islands.

This October and November, De Vrouw met de Baard will host workshops on Moluccan food at Theater CC aan de Amstel. These workshops aim to connect people, share stories, and teach participants how to cook Moluccan dishes themselves. In addition, they’ll be selling limited quantities of their special sambal on their webshop, and on April 10, 2025, they will release their Moluccan cookbook.

What we especially love about Mama Makan is its central location—close to the heart of Amsterdam yet tucked away in a quieter area. It's easily accessible by public transport, with plenty of parking nearby. Every year, Mama Makan celebrates "Kartini Day" on April 21, a day dedicated to the empowerment of modern women. "On Kartini Day, we offer a special menu featuring seafood or Balinese cuisine, along with live cocktail-making, traditional Indonesian dancers, and live music," shares Edwin Fernandes, the Restaurant Manager.

Hi Belgium! , in collaboration with Energi Mengikuti Imajinasi, proudly presents "Telusur Kain Indonesia" at Antwerp Central Station on September 21st. This exciting event will celebrate the beauty of Indonesian heritage in the heart of Belgium, with an afternoon of fashion, culture, and music.

This year also marks the 75th anniversary of Indonesian-Belgian bilateral relations, a milestone that the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels is honoring with cultural events across Belgium in cities like Leuven, Sint Truiden, Gent, Brussels, Antwerp, Aartselaar, and Kortrijk.

Fashion show from Batik fashion by Jagad Phoenix, Tenun fashion by Maharani Persada. Guided by a variety of performances, including the Saman Dance by DWP Brussels, traditional Balinese dance from Dwi Mekar, and the stunning voice of Dhini Rambu Piras. There will also be an exciting musical collaboration, with Edbert Gian on keyboard, Krishna Sutedja playing the Javanese gamelan, flute by House of Indonesia in Brussels, and Chloë Baeyens on violin. The activity is further supported by PPI Antwerp and Gen Z enthusiasts passionate about Indonesian culture.

Maddy Moreah is an Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter who started making music at 12. After graduating as a vocalist from ROC PACT, she embraced Soul and Jazz as her genres and began writing her own songs. In the vibrant jazz scene of the Netherlands, we have an Indonesian pianist named @kasyfikal. A graduate of Codarts Rotterdam, Kasyfi has achieved significant milestones, including winning an international jazz competition and becoming the first Indonesian to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Kasyfi performs regularly in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, playing with four to five ensembles. His appearances at venues like Jazz Café Dizzy and Bourbon Street bring an Indonesian flavor to the local jazz community. Even before attending university, Kasyfi was already making his mark in the music world. His debut album, Signature, was released during his early years as a musician, showcasing his dedication.
