The exams, which were supposed to start on 20 January, will be postponed one week. TU/e reports this Tuesday afternoon in an update regarding the cyberattack. The cautious expectation is that the network-related systems for students will be sufficiently available again next Monday. However, “It is expected to take weeks before all functionality is fully restored.”

People are hard at work to make the TU/e network safe and available again, but teaching won’t be possible on Tuesday yet. That was the gist of the update on the cyberattack that TU/e published on its website yesterday around 4 pm. The university did launch a temporary Wi-Fi network. A number has also been opened for students and employees to ask their questions via WhatsApp.

TU/e took its network offline today in response to a cyber-attack. “This necessary intervention was done to prevent worse outcomes,” vice-president Patrick Groothuis says in a statement. As a result, no educational activities will be possible at TU/e tomorrow. The buildings remain accessible, but there is no wifi on campus. Students and staff also cannot use internal systems such as e-mail and Teams.
