The Jury Prize is all about the potential the jury sees in a band to grow into a winner with adequate coaching and support. The winner is not seen as the second best of the finale but rather the band with the most potential!

Karel van Eerd (83) has been a huge fan of jazz as long as he can remember. Being a devoted pianist by himself he knows how to appreciate musical talents and their strive to get better.

As passionate jazz lover he strives for sustainable improvement in the entire jazz ecosystem. That’s why he wanted to create something big with his friend and entrepreneur Eelco van Velzen to make an impact on the live jazz ecosystem.

With this thought they came up with the Karel van Eerd music award. To help upcoming bands get bigger and become more professional. The music award is for everyone who loves to make jazz music and want to take their career to the next level.

Despite Karel's modesty, Eelco insisted on naming this award after its founding and funding father. Hence, The Karel van Eerd Music Award.

Over de Karel van Eerd Music Award is in JazzNu al het een en ander gepubliceerd. Dit spiksplinternieuwe initiatief mocht zich al meteen verheugen in een groot aantal aanmeldingen. Uiteindelijk werden uit de 119 aanmeldingen zes jazzgroepen geselecteerd die op 13 maart 2022 om de prijzen streden. Vi...

The winner of the Individual Prize is Gabrielle Cavassa. It was a hard decision for the jury, but Gabrielle just stood out. She put on a great performance and really connected with the audience. Gabrielle is an individual artist, but she performed along with the Ryan Hanseler trio. She fell in love with music at a young age, that’s when she began collecting, cataloguing and “obsessive listening” to records.
 
Gabrielle wins an artist support deal worth €5.000,-  which will help accelerate her career in Europe!

The winners of the Jury Prize: The Fried Seven! The jury saw a lot of potential in this band but for this year something was missing. They will receive a bespoke coaching package to coach the band towards a professional music career.

“The Fried Seven is a group of young musicians that plays exciting, swinging music inspired by New Orleans bands and the Swing Era. The band members come from different parts of Europe, with different backgrounds and languages but are united in their passion for this music.”
