Dries van Agt (NL, 1931 - 2024) was Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1977 to 1982. A charismatic and controversial politician, Dries van Agt is the man responsible for the Dutch Cannabis tolerance policy (‘gedoogbeleid’). This act paved the way for cannabis decriminalisation and the Dutch coffeeshop system.
The Hash Ma*****na & H**p Museum Amsterdam confers the Cannabis Culture Awards to those who have taken a place at the frontline of the struggle for acceptance of cannabis in all of its forms. In 2009 Dries van Agt was given a Cannabis culture award for his achievements. At the 2013 Cannabis Culture Award ceremony he gave an inspiring speech in favour of full legalisation and regulation of the cannabis market.
At a time when the debate on drugs is being infused with hope and optimism in countries all over the world, it is more important than ever to acknowledge those who have made a genuine difference to the perception and use of this unfairly maligned plant.

Mandarine Jam male almost ready to pollinate its sisters. The male has flowered 4 weeks and the females for 3 weeks. Notice the trichomes on the male plant, which is showing his potency. In about a week the pollen sacks of the male will release pollen into the air. A spectacular event which hopefully can be captured on camera by our dear friend Cutter from Fat Beans.
