The Eternal Light Family (ELF)
The ELF House Community with well over a 100 members from 32 countries on six continents. in South West Amsterdam near Vondelpark, just by Motorway Ring Exit nr. 106 or 107, close to the World's oldest International Airport at Schripol .
There was a foyer in Italian marble with a 24h manned Reception, shortly managed by myself, a 'Backpacker's Programme' (our Dormitory 'Hostel'), a Canteen daily serving vegetarian breakfasts and dinners, financed by a 'Magic Hat system' and managed by Felice Rainone, a Glass Blowing Room run by Drum, a Black Light Room for painting beautiful back-drops and other decorations for our numerous renowned parties, an Art Gallery on constant display, a Rainbow Office and a Temple of all Religions, both managed by baba Chris, a Sewing Room with a huge pile of donated clothes managed by Irina, a Sound Studio, a Growing Room, a Ping-Pong Room, a much debated ;Bar-bylon' (our pub on the 1st floor), a Chai Shop with a Dutch-style 'Coffee Shop' serving tea, coffee, Indian style chai, soft drinks & snacks open from 10am to 4am & an enormous Party Room on the top floor with windows on 3 sides for us and up to 700 of our guests.
This 7 floor (incl. basement & bottom floors) business building was the former Belgian Consulate in town, originally squatted by Ton, a.k.a. Heart Core and legally held for 1002 wonderful days from April 29th 1998 to February 13th 2001. We sadly lost the house and our home during an appeal hearing in court & we were physically forced to move out when the council workers came with sledge hammers and started to smash up all the radiators, inside windows and sprayed every room down with water hoses so the 'message' would be 'understood' that we no longer could live there.
