Adamawa Govt Approves N19.7bn For Jimeta Modern Shopping Compex Project

The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved construction of Jimeta Modern Shoping Complex in Yola North Local Government Area at the cost of N19.7bn.

The market built in 1996 was demolished by the state government recently to pave way for construction of new modern structure to boost the state’s economy.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Iliya James disclosed the resolution of the government to newsmen after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Mr James said the contract for the project was awarded to three contractors and will be completed within the contractual agreement of twenty months.

The Commissioner of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Dr Ishaya Dabari said the new market will comprise shops, fire service, police station and administrative buildings among others.

On the current flood ravaging communities in the state, the Commissioner of Environment, Sadiq Mohammed called on people along flood prone areas to move to safer areas.

The Commissioner of Health, Chief Felix Tangwami assured the readiness of the ministry to contain any outbreak of diseases that may come from the current flooding, urging people to be vigilant.

Today, I received a thank you visit from the NLC Adamawa State Chapter, led by Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, at my office. They came to appreciate our efforts on the recently implemented N70,000 minimum wage, which was paid to workers this month. I made it clear that when it comes to matters affecting the common man or our workforce, I, Fintiri, will not hesitate to implement policies for the greater good. I also called on the Federal Government to put on their thinking caps and do more for Nigerians. People shouldn't have to protest or cry out before we listen.

Gov Fintiri Charges New NSCDC Commandant On Criminality

Governor Ahmadu Umaru has charged the new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDS), posted to Adamawa State, Idris D Bande, to tackling pockets of crimes in the state.

The Governor who gave the charge when the new commandant paid him a courtesy visit in the Government House, Yola Tuesday, urged him to use his wealth of experience to entrenching security.
The Governor says he looks forward to a good working relationship with the new commandant, urging him to work in synergy with other sister security outfits in Adamawa.
Earlier in his remarks, the new NSCDS Commandant, Idris D Bande commended Governor Fintiri for among others supporting the security agency with 4 operational vehicles, describing it as the first of its kind in the state.
He saluted the Governor for his visionary leadership particularly in the area of infrastructural development, emphasising that such strides would no doubt make life comfortable to the citizenry and improve the state’s economy.

After the Governor Election Tribunal Verdict in Adamawa State
Yola. Saturday, 28th- October, 2023

Protocol,
This indeed is another memorable day in the annals of Adamawa State as we celebrate yet another victory in the reaffirmation of a mandate freely given by the majority of the voters of Adamawa State in March 2023. The Adamawa State Governorship Election Tribunal has once again passed its verdict on the petition brought before it by the last category of petitioners. It is a verdict in favour of popular will; it is a verdict that reaffirms that the truth is sacred and justice is proportionately served to all parties.

Today, we are all witnesses to the triumph of reality over fiction; truth over falsehood and honesty over deceit. This is worthy of celebration and a tale we shall be proud to pass unto our forbearers in Adamawa State. The journey might be short, but the story is fully loaded. That we provided an enabling environment for democratic contest; we offered ourselves for free and fair election; ran an issue-based campaign devoid of rancour; protected our votes and won squarely, despite the attempts to deny us victory by the machination of desperate politicians and had the civility to walk to the tribunal and defend our mandate against capture.

Fellow Adamawa citizens, this verdict has magnificently closed this phase of litigation. It has no doubt consumed our productive times and energy, but I must tell you that it has not in anyway impugned on our resolve to work for our people and our dear State. We have remained undistracted on our mandate and undeterred on the delivery of good governance to Adamawa State. This victory is therefore only a tonic that would spur us to rededicate our commitment to the call of our democratic mandate by ensuring that in Adamawa State we leave no one behind and nothing untouched. Our 8 – Point Agenda is on course
