When you see Gambian players on the field whether they lose or win just salute them.🇬🇲

The Gambian football Team has suffered like real suffering before getting into AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire.

It all started in the last qualifier against Congo. They didn't have a FIFA-approved Stadium in their country, so the match was played in Morocco. While in Morocco an earthquake happened in their country and they luckily escaped unharmed. They eventually qualified for the final in Cote d'Ivoire.

Because they didn't have good facilities in their country, they had to travel to Saudi Arabia to camp there and prepare for the finals. Due to poor planning, the team had to spend many hours just traveling.
After all this, the team never received training bonuses and allowance. They had to boycott training.

When it was time to travel to Cote D'Ivoire, they were given a faulty plane that ran out of oxygen in the air and the whole of the team fainted except those in the Pilot chamber and they were forced to go back to Gambia luckily no one died.
The team finally arrived in Cote d'Ivoire.

My respect to them 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Victor Osimhen says he respects Jose Peseiro's decision to have William Troost-Ekong as the Super Eagles penalty taker.

Ekong took responsibility and scored Nigeria's penalty kick vs Cote d'Ivoire after Peseiro signalled for the PAOK defender to take the kick instead of the teams hitman Osimhen.

Osimhen said of the incident " “It was the coach [Who picked the penalty taker] . I have to respect it, he’s the captain. For me, I really don’t mind who takes the penalty or who scores for the team.

" I want the team to win. I want the team to progress so this is the most important thing for me,” Osimhen said.

I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles for their outstanding victory against Ivory Coast. It is imperative for me to address the messages I have received from fellow Nigerians, accusing me of pretending to be injured to depart the national team just before the AFCON and return to my club.

Clarifying the situation and providing a detailed account of events is essential.

I want to express my deep love for Africa and my unwavering affection for Nigeria.

Representing our great nation is consistently both a privilege and an honour.

Here is a comprehensive explanation of the situation: During the friendly match against Guinea, I experienced a significant impact from two Guinean defenders, leading to a penalty in favour of Nigeria.

Despite the medical team recommending substitution for preventive measures, I insisted on continuing to play and completed the game.

The following day, my knee swelled. The Super Eagles' medical team conducted a thorough examination, revealing a meniscus injury. Consequently, the manager decided to replace me based on the medical assessment, considering uncertainties about my fitness for the AFCON.

Upon returning to my club and undergoing thorough examinations, the medical team revealed that I had only suffered a bruise, and as a result, I was cleared to resume training.

I give special thanks to my club, Real Sociedad, for supporting my swift recovery and return to play.

Representing Nigeria is always my priority; I will never take it for granted. I would gladly accept it if I could return to the team. I am sad that I am not with my colleagues but happy they are winning.

I extend my best wishes to the Super Eagles in the ongoing African Nations Cup Afcon2023.

The upsets continue to happen at the African Cup of Nations after Former champions Algeria conceded a second-half penalty to allow unfancied Angola to force a 1-1 draw in the opening Group D clash.

It meant Algeria continued their winless streak at the finals since being crowned champions in 2019, extending it to four games. Earlier in the day, Cameroon were held to a 1-1 draw by a resolute 10-man Guinea in their Africa Cup of Nations opener in Yamoussoukro.

It is now the fourth draw in the opening seven games of the tournament with defending champions Senegal defeat of the Gambia 3-0 to sit top of Group C the biggest win of the tournament so far.
