According to them, "we have benefited a great deal from both past and present PDP led Administrations in the State, and this is a call for us to do more for the Party especially with the advent of their illustrious son, HON.LIVING MITIN candidature and his emergence as standard flagbearer for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Ekeremor Constituency 2.

PASSAGE OF PA ABRAHAM DIRI

With a deep feeling of loss, the Diri Family of Kalama-Owei Wari in Sampou Community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State announces the sudden passage of our patriarch, Lay Reader Pa Abraham Michael Joseph Diri.

Pa Abraham Diri departed on Sunday, February 12 at the age of 88 years.

Pa Diri, a retired Headmaster, a devout Christian and a man of exemplary humility, is father of the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

The Diri family and indeed the entire Sampou community are consoled that our dear brother and father lived a fulfilled life.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

Today in Edo State for the burial of late Mrs. Hannah Atomo Cocodia (Née Igbinedion) the mother of our own Hon. Collins Cocodia, SA. Political Matters to Bayelsa State Government.

On behalf of my Boss Sen. Douye Diri, I led the State Executive cabinet to empathize and sympathize with the friends and family of the Cocodia and the Nee Igbinedion family. We pray for Mama Soul to continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord. 🙏🏻

~PROSPERITY VANGUARD MEETS WITH ATIKU SUPPORT ORGANIZATION (A*O)

Yesterday, in Yenagoa the State Capital, the leadership of the Prosperity Vanguard honoured a special invitation from the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Atiku Support Organization (A*O) for an impactful meeting with the State working committee of the Organization.

The meeting which held at the State Liaison Office had in attendance other notable NGO coordinators across the State with the sole aim of coming together to form a formidable team in order to strengthen the political workforce, and grassroot mobilizations as well as promote Atiku Presidential campaign ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Reacting to an official address by the Group Liaison Officer, Comrade Jeremiah JonJon admonished group coordinators to be of good might and have confidence in the electoral process as they work hand in hand to promote the Atiku Presidential Candidate, stressing that his victory come 2023 is 100 percent guaranteed considering the amount of grassroot support he has.

Amidst the ravaging flood in Bayelsa State, I have presented our 2023 Budget proposal of N385.211 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The performance of the 2022 budget has been remarkable in delivering key projects and programmes in the outgoing financial year.

With our budget christened, "Budget of Sustainable Growth and Reconstruction, the government of prosperity will continue with key projects in various sectors and youth/women empowerment among others.

It is good to note that a certain percentage of the budget is earmarked for flood management to help our recovery process which include the reconstruction of damaged infrastructures including roads, bridges, schools and health facilities across the 8 LGAs.

Earlier today, the leadership of the Prosperity Vanguard headed by Comrade Jeremiah JonJon paid a condolence visit to Rt. Hon. Konbowei Friday Benson over the death of his beloved mother.

The group sympathises with the Senatorial candidate and pray God Almighty to grant him the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, adding that Mama has gone to be with the Lord.

Responding to the group visit, Rt. Hon. Friday Konbowei Benson expressed his deepest thoughts and thanked members of the Prosperity Vanguard for coming to identify with him.

Today, I paid a condolence visit to my dear friend and brother, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Friday Benson, former Secretary to the State Government and his family over the demise of their matriarch, Mrs. Bettina Benson at the age of 84.

Accompanied by my able Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and other leaders, I seized the occasion to appreciate the worthy life and times of mama and prayed God to give the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

Today, I hosted a peace meeting with the leadership of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), and some Ijaw elders to dialogue and foster unity, brotherliness and solidarity in Ijaw land in view of the disagreement among our brothers arising from the award of oil pipeline surveillance contract.

The meeting which was at my instance had in attendance our Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs, Mr. Patrick Erasmus, President of the INC, Professor Benjamin Okaba, Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Peter Akpe, former INC President, Chief Joshua Fumudoh, former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, Emeritus Professor Alabo Dagogo Fubara, Chairman of INC Reconciliation Committee, Chief Kennedy Odiowei, 'General' H. Olali, representatives of Chief Asari Dokubo, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, King Ateke Tom and Farah Dagogo among others.

We resolved not to allow the pittance in the guise of oil pipeline surveillance create an arena of infighting and bloodshed in Ijaw land before, during and after the ex*****on of the oil pipeline protection job among other resolutions.

I am happy with the commitment of the key stakeholders at the meeting to put the interest of our people first.

Let me thank our brothers involved in this surveillance job for their resolve to work together going forward and ensure protection of government assets in our land.

BREAKING: Court orders ASUU to end strike

A National Industrial Court in Abuja has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end its ongoing nationwide strike, which began on February 14.

Justice Polycarp Hamman, in a ruling on Wednesday, said he was invoking Section 18 of Trade Dispute Act, which allows the court to order an end to strike when national interest is at stake.

Justice Hamman held that it was necessary to end the strike because the students have a right to education.

BAYELSA GOVERNMENT SEEKS EFFECTIVE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES.

.....Charged community leaders, residents and nurses to show commitment to protecting primary health facilities...

The Bayelsa State Government has called on primary health care workers to be more dedicated to their duties and has charged community leaders/residents in the state to show commitment to protecting primary health care facilities in their various communities.

These as a call made by the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Sen Lawrence Oborowharievwo Ewhrudjakpo , who also, is the Chairman, Bayelsa State Task Force Committee on Primary Health Care (PHC) and Immunization, during A One Day Workshop on the State of Primary Health Care Services in Bayelsa, organized by the State Government, at Golden Tulip Government House, Yenagoa, on Thursday 15th, 2022.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the program, Senator Lawrence said it was paramount for the Government to put up the workshop for stakeholders, traditional rulers and individuals in every sphere of life to deliberate and seek solutions to the issues of health care services in the state.

He stressed that government will adequately tackle all identified problems and implement best practices to meet up the yearnings of the people while noting the experiences of the inhabitants of the hinterland required special consideration.

While expressing his confidence, he stated that the Committee and communique of the workshop will contribute significantly to the elevation and advancement of the state sector, and task all residents to ensure the safety of the state health facilities.

Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Pabara Newton Igwele, thanked the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, for approving the One Day workshop, which he described as an avenue for stakeholders to fathom the challenges in primary health care.

The immediate past Chairman of the Labour Party in Bayelsa, Mr. Ebimobowei N. Olomu, has officially dumped his party, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Mr Olomu announced his decision shortly after a meeting with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, in his office on Tuesday.
