*PLATEAU UNITED SECURE REINFORCEMENTS AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING SEASON* .

In a bid to stay competitive in the forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football League season, Plateau United have secured reinforcements to help further the course to contend favourably and seek a continental ticket or more.

In effect, Samuel Kalu joins the club from Enyimba FC of Aba while Barnabas Daniel makes the cut from Doma United of Gombe. Wing forwards, Pam Samuel and Daniel Onovo secured their moves off Rangers International of Enugu and Sunshine Stars of Akure respectively.

Harrison Ebah completes his move from NNL side, FC ONE Rockets of Eket,Akwa Ibom State while Gift Osadebe joins from EFCC FC, Abuja.

Goalkeeping reinforcements have seen former 3SC of Ibadan shotstopper, Bamidele Adeniyi signing up for the Peace Boys with towering youngstar, Amah John joining from Sunshine Stars of Akure.

All players sealed up their deals in the presence of key members of Management of Plateau United, under the auspices of current Acting General Manager, Habila Hosea, whose tireless efforts towards staying competitive has seen him lead from the front in terms of player recruitments, stadium upgrade and team motivation.

Mbwas Mangut leads the charge technically, while Patrick Mancha provides cover as Chief Coach.

With more reinforcements expected to follow, it would be interesting to see just how the team reacts to current demands from a very title-thirsty fanbase whose primary desire is to secure a path to the continent and maybe, the prestigious Nigeria Professional Football League title.

Berom Youths decry killings in Heipang ..Insists 21 persons were killed ...Calls for immediate redeployment and investigation on the activities of Col. US Abdulsalam

Berom Youth Moulders (BYM) on Thursday decried the invasion of a community in Heipang Community where several persons were killed by gunmen .

The group further insisted that 21 persons were killed and not 17 as speculated by some media organisations.

Rwang Tengwong BYM National Publicity Secretary in a statement made available to newsmen reads that 21 persons have been reportedly killed in an attack in two different villages in Heipang Community of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State by fulani militia alongside Bandits

According to the statement " " The attackers, who came around 1:26am killed 17 Persons in Batin of Heipang town while 4 persons were killed in Rayogot while 7 Persons sustained fatal injuries"

" After carrying out the attack in Heipang town, on siting the attackers, vigilante members from Rayogot who were on alert tried to stop them but in the process, 4 persons were killed."

" The incident which ought to have ordinarily been averted going by the security alerts given out to all relevant bodies including OPSH, but the attacks were still carried out. "

" Prior to the attack, there was a robbery incident along Heipang Highway, killing one person and injuring one."

" The identity of the criminals was not yet ascertained by all including Security agents, but the entire District has been subjected to impending attacks, which true to fact, was carried out with little or no response to avert it."

The group also said that it could be recalled that in 2019, there was a similar attack on the Heipang Highway which was later established as to a robbery case. It was traced that the attackers trailed the victims from Kara cattle market in Bukuru only to kill them at Heipang to return to their destination."

" It is great concern that despite the security alert, and the presence of security personnel patrolling the community, their was no trace of the attackers."

Also recalled that on the 28/04/2023, there was an attack in Tapo Community of Heipang District leaving 4 persons dead, and BYM made a press statement to the effect that the attack was meted out by Fulani Militias. Surprisingly, Operation Safe Haven-OPSH' spokesperson, the security body called it a Community clash, contrary to the actual incident that occurred then. Instead of the providing credible evidence, the 4 Sector Commander, Col. U. S. Abdulsalam had threatened the National Publicity Secretary to apologise over the Press Statement at a meeting with some members of the community in attendance.

The BYM wants to made it clear that if OPSH under Sector 4 feels the statement misrepresented the true picture of what transpired, it can explore legal means to seek redress and not to resort to threats and intimidation

It is worthy of mention that, after the attack on Chit village in Heipang which resulted to the dead of 5 persons and over 50 cattles were rustled on the 13th June, 2023 and Sam reported to the security. It was further gathered that the native cattle owners and some youth leaders from Heipang visited the Sector 4 Commander to ask for update on investigation, Col. US Abdulsalam told the delegation that they (Security) tracked the phone that was taken by the attackers, but they are waiting for the DSS to effect the arrest.

Also based on reports available to us, that sometime in June, 2023, the District Head of Heipang insulted by Administrative Officer of Sector 4, saying that the Paramount Ruler is "very stupid" for calling and reporting about a security situation in the area.

They allege that " Why is it that after the exit of Col. MD Abdulsalam, Security situation is Barkin Ladi summersaults and things went bad as against what the then Commander,Col. M. D. Abdulsalam, who was up and doing and had the general area under unprecedented calmness with no coordinated attack for over two years of his Command?

This, among other things have left us with concerns as to why the lopsided response by the present Sector Commander.

The BYM hereby calls for immediate the redeployment and investigation on the activities of Col. US Abdulsalam.

We equally call on our people to remain calm but under intense vigilance as well as exploring all legal means to protect themselves as none of our dead brothers can ever returned.

CDS APPOINTMENT: NORTHERN MINORITY MUSLIMS COMMEND PRESIDENT TINUBU AND CONFIDENT OF CDS RESULTS.

By Nanyah Daman, Yuwana Enoch, David Kazi, Justin Jattim, Michael Nangwang, Anastasia Jatbyen, Vanessa Timbyen, Nanpon Maigemu & Nanzing Zingkong, Abuja.

A faith-based group under the aegis of Northern Minority Muslims (NMM), has thrown it's weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for deeming it timely and auspicious to appoint Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa as the Chief of Defense Staff of Nigeria and are confident that the CDS will bring the desired results in securing the nation.

In a communique signed by its national coordinator, Mallam Dahiru Musa Wamba, and made available to the NewsGate Magazine, the NewsCrest Newspaper, Ace News Online, Jat HotNews Newspaper, Frank News Magazine, Emerald Magazine, Trust News Online, Reliable and Factual News Online, Prompt News Online and other journalists at a press conference in Abuja, the group noted that their reaction was necessitated by a recent viral video where a so called Islamic cleric can be seen making provocatively malicious statements about the appointment of Gen C G Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff.

The statement emphasized that military assignments should be purely on the basis of professionalism, and not political expediency, nor religious consideration.

"The security situation in the country has become worrisome, thereby deepening our fault lines, with existential threat by separatist groups, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, political assassinations and corruption across the country, and the need to begin to address these challenges require an urgent departure from the era of placing political patronage above meritocracy", the statement noted.

They emphasized that, "as Muslims from the minority tribes in Nigeria, we find it not only scandalous, but unfortunately malicious and unsettling when a so called Muslim cleric views appointments from the prism of self adulation rather than the much needed professionalism".

The group condemned the Islamic cleric for referring to Zangon Kataf as minority tribe that is unworthy of producing a soldier that can be trusted with the headship of the country's security architecture, noting that it's unfair to take a swipe on a tribe that has suffered many years of unprovoked killings, land grabbing, occupation by enemies and destruction of property.

They described Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa as a "thorough-bred professional who's exploits as a combatant both within and outside Nigeria comes in full measure, as such, casting aspersions with a view to malign and cast a slur on his integrity will only embolden him to remain professional".

"We've followed his military trajectory, and we're fully aware that his immense contribution in tackling activities of bandits and insurgents, has brought relative peace in the northwest, northeast, and other regions of the country, and now is the auspicious time for him to consolidate as a square peg that perfectly fits the square hole", they reiterated.

The statement urged security agencies to, without delay, arrest and investigate the cleric for his inciting comments that was made viral across social media platforms, "so that these kind of provocative and inciting comments that have the capacity to cast a slur on the hard earned integrity of patriotic Nigerians will be nipped in the bud".

PLSG Deploys ASTC and Agro Rangers to Restore farms & Protect Crops in Conflict Communities.

By Nanyah Daman, Yuwana Enoch, David Kazi, Justin Jattim, Michael Nangwang, Anastasia Jatbyen, Vanessa Timbyen, Nanpon Maigemu & Nanzing Zingkong, Mangu.

As promised by the Executive Governor of Plateau State,Barr Caleb Mutfwang and in a bid to alleviate the plight of conflict-affected communities in Plateau State, the State Government has taken a significant step by providing farming interventions to Mangu, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi communities. These areas have recently witnessed devastation caused by conflicts, leading to the destruction of farms and disruption of livelihoods.

The official flag-off of the farming intervention took place at Ligitlubang Community in Mangu Local Government Area. Dr. Susan Bentu, the Managing Director and CEO of the Agricultural Services and Training Center and Marketing Ltd (ASTC), revealed in an interview with journalists that Governor Caleb Mutfwang directed the intervention to cover communities affected by recent attacks and farm destruction.

Dr. Bentu stated that the Plateau State Government has commissioned the Agricultural Services and Training Center and Marketing Ltd (ASTC) ASTC to cultivate lands in areas that suffered from the unfortunate attacks, resulting in the displacement of numerous farmers from their lands.

"The government's initiative comes as a respite for these communities, as His Excellency Governor Caleb Mutfwang approved the cultivation of 900 hectares of land across three local government areas of Mangu, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom LGAs in the first phase of the intervention" Bentu stated

She said the primary objective of this intervention is to enable farmers in these affected communities to salvage what remains of the farming season and prevent their farmlands from going to waste. The state government has also responded to the appeal made by farmers by providing security for the cultivated crops, encouraging displaced persons to return to their homes.

Despite the advanced stage of the farming season, the government has directed the planting of some late crops, such as beans and soya beans, which are expected to perform well. This move demonstrates the government's commitment to support and revitalize the agricultural sector in the conflict-affected regions.

The Deputy Commandant Head of Agro Rangers, NSCDC Plateau State Command, Olusola Bakene, has assured farmers that his team is fully mobilized to protect and secure the farmlands. The Agro Rangers, specialized trained personnel, will ensure that the crops are shielded from further destruction.

Representative from the traditional council and the Chairman Mwagavul Development Association, Bunga District, Mr Dafwat Nanribet expressed his gratitude to the government's intervention. He said after witnessing the destruction of all their cultivated farms earlier in the year, the communities are relieved that the government is taking steps to address their hardships through farming interventions.

Some of the farm owners at the cultivation intervention sites including, Elder Ezekiel Dashial and Mr Nanribe Samuel shared their various ordeal and how they suffered attacks on the farmlands and were forced to abandon their crops due to the incessant attacks.

The however said they were overjoyed with the initiative as it has restored their hope and further boosted their confidence that the government was putting efforts to ameliorate their sufferings.

The farming intervention will be extended to four communities of Jol, Kwi, Rim and Bachit in Riyom Local Government Area , Sho community in Barkin Ladi, and 14 others namely Aloghom, Gaude/Kinat, Bwai, Sabon Layi, Mangul- Kantoma Bakin Hanya, Jwakkom/ LigitLubang, kombun,Daika(ATughun), Dangdai and Gyembwas in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state.

With this initiative, the Plateau State Government aims to provide much-needed support to the affected communities, helping them rebuild their lives and regain hope for a better future.
