The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to pray for the triumph of justice in the country and rekindle their hope for a new and purposeful Order that derive only from the Will of the people.

In a statement by its spokesman, Hon Debo Ologunagba, the PDP noted that the coming of Easter, at the time Nigerians are despondent over the outcome of the 2023 general elections, serves as an assurance that no matter how long falsehood and manipulation appear to thrive, the truth will surely prevail at the end of the day.

“This season rekindles humanity’s assurance of victory of life over death, hope over despair, justice over injustice and the triumph of the Will of the people over the selfish and parochial scheme of an arrogant, selfish, corrupt and manipulative few.

“The PDP is saddened that Nigerians are again observing a celebration such as Easter in hardship, fear, insecurity and hopelessness occasioned by the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Our Party therefore charges Nigerians to persevere in prayers and continue to care for, show love and share with one another at this critical time in hope for a better nation under a people-enthroned leadership.

“The PDP assures of its upmost resolve to take every lawful action in the determination to retrieve the Presidential mandate freely given by the people to our Party and Candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the February 25, 2023 Presidential election so that Nigerians can have the breath of fresh air under a purposeful leadership that they eagerly yearn for,” the party’s statement partly read.

The PDP felicitated with Nigerians and wished them a happy Easter celebration.

The former lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, Mao Ohuabunwa has opposed the Senate President’s ambition of Orji Kalu.

Ohuabunwa, who spoke during Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, argued that Kalu, the current member representing Abia North Senatorial District, has a pending case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and has previously been convicted.

Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June, Kalu, who won reelection, is one of the contenders for the position of Senate President.

However, Ohuabunwa, who hails from the same senatorial district as Kalu said the ex-Abia State Governor is not competent to represent the people.

When asked how he would feel should Kalu emerge as the next Senate President, Ohuabunwa said, “I will feel terrible because I don’t believe that he is competent to represent the Senate.”

“He has not won the election so I wouldn’t want a Senate President that will be removed tomorrow. He has so much baggage with him. He still has an EFCC case in court, don’t forget that he was convicted. He wasn’t discharged. I am wondering why the EFCC is still holding back on that prosecution.”

Ohuabunwa’s comments come three weeks after Kalu said it is his turn to be President of the Senate in the 10th National Assembly.

Kalu asked his party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) – to zone the seat to his district.

However, the ruling party is yet to comment on its decision on principal offices for the next National Assembly.

JAMB Reschedules Mock-UTME, Revises 2023 Timetable

Following technical glitches experienced during the 2023 Mock-UTME, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has rescheduled the exercise to Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

A statement by JAMB head of media, Fabian Benjamin says the earlier test held on Thursday, March 30 2023, in 725 centres across the country had issues, denying some interested candidates opportunity to participate.

Jamboree noted that the mock-UTME was designed for testing its preparedness and that of its partners for the UTME proper as well as give prospective candidates a first hands experience of the CBT test environment.

The statement adds that candidates who were present and screened for the examination but could not sit for it, will now take the test on the new date.

JAMB says in the meantime, the result of the candidates who successfully took the mock examination on March 30, 2023, has been released.
