Minister Calls For Inclusion of Women In Peace Building Process

The Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has called for the inclusion of women in the nation's peace building process to enable them to have a sense of belonging and social cohesion.

The ministry's Head, Press and Public Relations, Grace Njoku, disclosed this in a statement posted on the official X handle of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation on Saturday.

According to the statement, the minister made the call in Abuja during the 4th Annual Forum of Women, Peace and Security Sector Reference Group organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs, in collaboration with United Nations Women and Nigerian Police Force.

The statement read, "She stated that women by their natural endowment have the resilience to tenaciously work towards ensuring a safe and united society that will provide an enabling environment for socio-economic growth and development of any nation, noting that this virtues also fall in line with the policy thrust of government.

"Kennedy-Ohanenye informed that no peace talk can be actualized without the involvement of women in the process because they occupy a vital position in society, as mothers, daughters and sisters."

The minister further urged Nigerian women to strive to attain heights in their respective careers so as to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the nation.

Exclusive: Oladips Was Dead For Three Days Before Coming Back To Life - Singer's Aide

Abdulrasheed Opeyemi, the personal assistant of Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, aka Oladips, has disclosed that the rapper, who was recently declared dead by his management, actually died for three days before he came back to life.

News surfaced on November 14 that the 'Chache' crooner had died following an ailment he battled with for two years.

"We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, passed away yesterday, November 14, Tuesday evening, at exactly 10:14 pm. We are still in shock as we speak!

"For over two years, he has kept his battles within himself; his body is now with his family. The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss. (amen),” read a statement from his management.

In an exclusive interview with PUNCH Online's Tope Alabi on Monday, Abdulrasheed shed more light on the 'management' of Dipsciples Music, owned by the rapper, adding that Oladips was dead for three days before he came back to life.

He said, "I don't know how to say this. It was a misinterpretation with the manager who has access to Oladips' page. We all thought he was dead because he was not breathing until the third day when he was revived. By then, the manager had already shared the story.

"Even I could not reach him until the third day."

Asked where the rapper was for the three days, Abdulrasheed responded, ”He was with his family."

Abdulrasheed also revealed that the music outfit has since sacked the manager, whose identity he did not disclose.

"You are speaking with the right person in the label. The manager who shared the story has since been sacked. Oladips will soon address everyone on the issue," Abdulrasheed added.

Oladips launched his label, Dipsciples Music, after his exit in 2019, from LRR/Edge Records, owned by Nigerian rapper Remilekun Saf

Vice President, Kashim Shettima visited an elder statesman Lateef Olufemi Okunnu at his Lagos residence on Sunday.

This was disclosed in photos shared on Shettima's page on Monday, December 4.

The post read,"Yesterday, I visited an elder statesman, Lateef Olufemi Okunnu SAN CON., Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing 1967- 1974".

Okunnu served as a Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing from 1967 to 1974, also leader of the Federal Government Delegation to the Organisation of African Unity Consultative Committee on Nigeria Peace Talks to end the Civil War in 1968 and in 1969.

He was appointed Leader of the Nigerian Delegation to the Organisation of African Unity Ministerial Conference.

In 1980, Okunnu was a member of the Nigerian Delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization and later appointed as pro-chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 1982.

The Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayieku Local Council Development Area, Olusesan Daini, shared photos of the office on his X page on Saturday.

He partly wrote, "I am thrilled to share the monumental success of the newly commissioned Nigerian Immigration Office Front Office right here in Igbogbo.

"This accomplishment reflects the unwavering commitment of our visionary leaders to elevate our community.

"On behalf of myself and the good people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, I want to appreciate the Hon. Minster of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Controller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, the first-ever Yoruba citizen to lead the Nigerian Immigration Service.

"Their dedication and leadership have opened new doors for our community, marking a historic milestone we’re immensely proud of.

In January 2023, the NIS opened a passport front office in Alimosho, Lagos.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has unveiled the refurbished Arrival "E" of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos State.

Tunji-Ojo also inaugurated the remodeled main entrance/exit gate and Quarter Guard at the Zone ‘A’ Headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ikeja, the state capital.

The minister shared photos from the events on his X page on Saturday, noting that the unveiling took place on Friday.

"Yesterday in Lagos, I attended the handover of the remodeled clearance counters and refurbished Arrival "E" of Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

"The project, undertaken by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), underscores the importance of partnership with the private sector," the minister said.

He added, "After commissioning the Arrival "E" of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, I moved to commission the remodeled main entrance/exit gate and Quarter Guard at the Zone ‘A’ Headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ikeja, Lagos State, also yesterday (Friday)."

"When I got home, I received my pictures taken at closed range inside the church. I was very angry because I wasn’t in my best outfit (Mum’s gown and shoes 🤣🤣🤣).

"We became very good friends thereafter but I refused to meet him😜. On 6th of Dec 2013, (my birthday 🥰) he called to offer a birthday gift, I sent my younger brother to pick up the gift.

"My brother came back with a big portrait of my 2go profile picture. I was like huh!, this guy is too forward and intentional.

"Surprisingly, I got admitted into the university in the same state where he was schooling 😉 and friendship became stronger. Fast forward to now….. we are getting married. ″

President Bola Tinubu has met with Kenya's President, William Ruto, ahead of the opening session of the World Climate Action Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Tinubu also met the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte.

This was disclosed in a tweet by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Friday, December 1.

The president departed for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday, November 29 to attend the event also known as the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28).

His tweet read, "H.E. President Bola Tinubu exchanges views with the President of Kenya, H.E. William Ruto, ahead of the Opening Session of the World Climate Action Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
