Ukobot Presents First 100 Days Score Card, Pledges Support for Umo Eno's Administration

The Transition Committee Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Nsikakabasi Ukobot says his target is to empower 1000 youths of the area, engaged in small scale businesses to grow their economy and pay taxes to the council in return.

He disclosed that so far, his committee has reached out to over 300 entrepreneurs selected in equal proportion across the 13 wards of the LGA with over N6million.

Hon. Ukobot who disclosed this during a Media pally, to mark his first 100 days in office, recounted other achievements of his committee to include: providing N3.5million for female farmers to improve their yield and make food items available.

"I partner with farmers in the local government area by giving them money, seedlings, pesticides etc to cushion the effect of hardship and reduce hunger in the land.

"We also engage in training of farmers and other entrepreneurs to gain mastery in their fields of endeavors.

"A typical example is a young man that I met producing paint, I made him teach other young men the art to producing paint and as I speak, all of them are good at the job. It is better than just giving someone money to eat". Ukobot explained.

Ukobot who is the immediate past Vice Chairman of Ibiono Ibom LGA, says he met the entire council Secretariat in darkness but has been able to restore electricity to all the offices, which has made working environment conducive.

He said within the first 100 days as Transition Committee Chairman, he has fixed the security village to ensure that all principal offers of the council, live within the local government in accordance with the directive of the state government.

The council head mentioned that he has taken up purchase of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms as well as organize classes to ensure that youths of the area willing to further their academics would gain admission into the university of their choice.

Considering that JAMB is computer based, Hon. Ukobot says plans are concluded to organize training on computer technology, to boost the confidence of the candidates in the use of computers.

He however applauded the achievements of the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno within the last 10 months with the ARISE agenda, pledging his total support to ensure that more are achieved as the administration grows.

Over 100 Catholic Officials Come Out As Gay In Germany

More than 100 Catholic church officials in Germany came out as LGBT, q***r or non-binary on Monday, adding to calls for reform within the crisis-hit church.

Demands for a more liberal attitude to homos*xuality within the German church have coincided with uproar over reports of widespread child s*x abuse by Catholic clergymen in the country, including allegations of cases where former pope Benedict XVI failed to act.

The 125-strong group, which includes priests and workers in education and administration, published a statement demanding an end to the "discrimination and exclusion" they had experienced.

"I don't want to hide my s*xual identity anymore," Uwe Grau, a priest in the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, was quoted on the group's website as saying.

"We are part of the church," added Raphaela Soden, who works in pastoral care for young adults and identifies as q***r and non-binary. "We always have been. It's time to finally make it clear that we exist and how wonderfully q***r the body of Christ is."

The statement called for "free access to all pastoral vocations", and an end to what the signatories called a "system of concealment, double standards, and dishonesty" surrounding LGBT issues.

"Entering into a non-heteros*xual relationship or marriage must never be considered a breach of loyalty and, consequently, an obstacle to employment or a reason for dismissal," they said.

The issue of homos*xuality has caused a major rift in the Catholic Church between modernisers and conservatives.

Captain of the Guinea Bissau national team, Jonas Azevedo Mendes has vowed that they would rather ‘die’ than see themselves lose today’s match against the Super Eagles. Mendes, who is the team’s first-choice goalkeeper said they will be out in full force to battle the Super Eagles for a victory.

Asked if there was any particular player in the Eagles team they were targeting, Mendes said, “we know Nigeria is a good team. It will be a mistake to target any particular player. We are facing all of them with equal attention,” he said. Raised in Portugal, the goalkeeper has spent most of his playing career in the third tier of Portuguese football.

NEW COVID-19 VARIANT FOUND IN FRANCE NAMED "IHU' SAID TO BE STRONGER THAN OMICRON.

While the world is grappling with the outburst of the Omicron virus with a very high transmissibility rate, scientists and experts in France have reportedly identified a new variant of COVID-19 termed ‘IHU’. The new variant is said to be a more mutated strain than Omicron.

According to media reports, nearly 12 cases of this new variant have been reported near Marseilles, and has been linked to the African country Cameroon. But, the Omicron strain is still dominating in most parts of the world.

The B.1.640.2 or IHU variant was first identified by the academics at institute IHU Mediterranee Infection and contains 46 mutations, which is more than Omicron.

This new variant can be a major threat, however, the cases have not been reported so far in countries other than France and is not labelled as ‘variant yet under investigation’ by the World Health Organisation (WHO)

Househelp who fled with her madam's son in Lagos arrested in Ogun*

She stated further that the little girl was begging for alms under the pretence that the small boy is her younger brother and that their parents died in an accident in December 2020.
Out of compassion, the woman took both of them to her house in Sagamu in order to take care of the little boy's deteriorating health condition.

But immediately the boy fully recovered, the suspect wanted to single-handedly take the boy to Imo state. This aroused the woman's suspicion, hence her report.

Upon the report, the Dpo Sagamu division, CSP okiki Agunbiade detailed his detectives to go and bring the girl and the little boy.

On interrogation, the girl confessed that she was a maid to the mother of the little boy, and that she left with the boy since on the 19th of December 2021, with the intention of taking the boy to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mberna local government area of Imo state.

She stated further that, she took the baby from the church during Sunday school period, and since the Sunday school teacher knows her with the baby's mother, she had no problem releasing the baby to her.

She explained further that she decided to beg for alms in order to raise transport fare to Imo state. " Oyeyemi said.

The police spokesperson added that the Commissioner of police CP Lanre Bankole ordered that the baby's parents be contacted, while the case be forwarded to Lagos state command whose jurisdiction the crime was actually committed.

Igbo Christians are very stingy to the Church – Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, popularly known as COZA, has alleged that it is difficult for Igbos to donate money to the church despite their claim of believing in God.

Speaking during a sermon at his church in Abuja, Fatoyinbo, however, said they have large hearts but do things at their will.

According to the popular preacher, who said that hustling is a curse, some persons find it difficult to give because of how much they hustled to get the money.

He said, “The Igbo believe in God. It takes God for an Igbo guy to give. They have a large heart but -they believe you shouldn’t work their mind.

“Igbos are 90 per cent Christians but no megachurch. You need to tear backgrounds to enter some testimonies. No Church with a Yoruba pastor takes more Igbo songs than COZA. Hustle is a curse! Are you a hustler?

“Some people find it hard to give because they hustled to get that money. In the name of Jesus, hustle has ceased in your life”.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested one Amaka Ogonachukwu, 22, for attempting to smuggle wraps of co***ne concealed in cooked white rice for her boyfriend, Monday, 40, who’s in the custody of the Edo state command of agency.

BREAKING: Popular South Africa Archbishop Desmond Tutu Is Dead

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who helped end apartheid in South Africa, has died aged 90
President Cyril Ramaphosa said the churchman’s death marked “another chapter of bereavement in our nation’s farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans”.
He said Archbishop Tutu had helped bequeath “a liberated South Africa”.
Tutu was one of the country’s best-known figures at home and abroad, BBC News reports.
A contemporary of anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela, he was one of the driving forces behind the movement to end the policy of racial segregation and discrimination enforced by the white minority government against the black majority in South Africa from 1948 until 1991.
He was awarded the Nobel prize in 1984 for his role in the struggle to abolish the apartheid system.

As the breakdown of the last marriage of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi to Olori Naomi Silekunola is announced, we take a look at his past marriages.

The first-class Osun monarch has been married three times and the marriages have failed.

Before his marriages, the Ooni was in a relationship with Omolara Olatunbosun. The relationship produced his 29-year-old daughter, Princess Adeola.

Afterwards, he married Adebukola Bombata in 2008.

This was seven years before he became the Ooni of Ife. The couple parted ways after he ascended the throne of his forebears.

In 2016, the Ooni went all the way to the Benin Kingdom to marry his second wife, Olori Wuraola, who is now known as Queen Zaynab-Otiti Obanor.

The marriage ended in 2017 with the reason for the divorce never stated.

In 2018, the Ooni married Evangelist Naomi from Ondo State. Upon their marriage, she became known as Olori Silekunola. She announced her divorce from the Ooni on Thursday, stating that the public persona of the king was different from who he really was.

Titan Trust Bank Limited, led by Tunde Lemo, is buying 89.39 per cent of Union Bank, both companies announced Thursday.
Titan Trust Bank has announced a takeover of one of Nigeria’s oldest banks, Union Bank.

Titan Trust Bank Limited, one of Nigeria’s newest commercial banks, which commenced operations in October 2019, is buying 89.39 per cent of the issued capital of Union Bank, both companies announced Thursday.

“The Board of Directors of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc (“Union Bank”) today announced that it has received a notification from Union Global Partners Ltd. (“UGPL”, the holder of majority shareholding in Union Bank) of the ex*****on of a Share Sale and Purchase Agreement between UGPL, certain other existing shareholders of Union Bank (as Sellers) and Titan Trust Bank Limited (as Purchaser) for the sale of an aggregate 89.39% of the issued share capital of Union Bank held by the Sellers, to the Purchaser (“the Transaction”),” they announced.

The completion of the transaction is subject to obtaining applicable regulatory approvals and the “fulfilment of certain conditions precedent”.

Commenting on the transaction, the chairperson of Union Bank, Beatrice Bassey said: “On behalf of the Board, we congratulate all the parties involved in reaching this phase of the transaction and the Board looks forward to supporting the next steps to ensure a seamless completion of the process following regulatory approvals. The DG said the shutdown will continue on a number of Glo’s Main Switch Centres (MSC) accros the country until the telecom company commits to a payment schedule.

I wonder why a big man, a Forbes billionaire who has businesses that generate daily cash flow for him detest paying his debts. It is strange if you ask me.

Couple arrested for allegedly selling their one-month old baby for N50, 000

A couple residing at Ilara area of Ode Remo, in Remo North local government area of Ogun state has been arrested by men of Ogun State police command for allegedly selling their one-month-old baby at the rate of fifty thousand naira.

The suspects, Eze Onyebuchi and his wife Oluchi Eze were arrested on the 16 of December 2021, following a piece of information received by policemen at Ode Remo divisional headquarters, that the couple who live at Ayegbami street Ilara Remo willingly sold their one-month-old baby to a woman who is now at large.

Upon the information, the Dpo Ode Remo division, CSP Olayemi Fagbohun, detailed his detectives to the area where the couple was arrested and brought to the station.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on interrogation, the suspects explained to the police that, it was one Mrs. Ruth Obajimi, who directed the yet to be identified buyer to them. They stated further that the woman came to them on the 14th of December 2021, and told them that she is from a human rights office and that she will help them to foster their child. The woman then gave them the sum of fifty thousand nairas and they handed over the baby to her despite not knowing her from Adam.

Abimbola said efforts are in top gear to apprehend the said woman with the view to recover the baby.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-human trafficking and child labor unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation. He equally directed a massive manhunt for the buyer who has since took to flight.

I still want to marry her. I love her very much - Man stabbed by fiancee.

Habib Suleiman,25, a resident of Unguwan Rogo in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, says he still wants to marry his fiancée, Fatima Danjuma, despite stabbing him with a knife.

On December 2, Fatima, a resident of Ali Kazaure, also in Jos North LGA, was arrested by the police after she stabbed Habib during a disagreement.

According to Habib, Fatima stabbed him when she saw him around her area walking with another girl whom she suspected was his girlfriend. He said the girl in question was a younger sister to his friend.

“When she saw me and the girl while she was passing with her friend, I noticed she was angry and when I called her name she refused to answer because she was very jealous.

I didn’t know that after seeing me with the girl, she stopped at a neighbour’s house and collected a knife. All of a sudden, she stabbed me. From there, I was taken to hospital.

But despite the incident, I still love Fatima. I still want to marry her. What happened was just a destiny because it can happen to anyone. We love each other so much. I think she was angry and that was why she stabbed me.

She has regretted and pleaded with me to forgive her and I have forgiven her. If there is anything that one can do, it is to help me plead with my parents to allow me to marry her, I will be very grateful.

And to show her that I am still interested in her, even after I was discharged from the hospital, I visited her at the police station to show my sympathy,” Habib said

Habib's parents however insist that the wedding must not hold. They fear that if they get married, Fatima might kill Habib.

Osun state university student allegedly shot and set ablaze for refusing to join cult.

A final year student of the Department of Political Science at the Osun State University, Victor Oke, was allegedly shot, cut with matchets and set ablaze by suspected cultists for refusing to join a fraternity.

Confirming the incident, the University's Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, in a statement issued on Monday December 13, said

“We noticed that Victor was absent for his final paper in the afternoon and decided to contact his parents. It was later discovered that he was attacked by unknown cultists in the early hours of Saturday.

Victor was shouting that he was not joining their cult group while they continued to hit him with cutlasses, hard stones and attempted to burn him, partially succeeding before he was eventually rescued.

The university security unit is currently working with the Police to ensure the culprits are exposed and brought to book. The cultists must be arrested''he said

Australian socialite undergoes 36 surgeries and has both feet amputated after a mosquito bite in Nigeria

The 52-year-old Stephenie Rodriguez visited Lagos in 2019 after being invited to speak at a business gathering for travel executives. She shared how a mosquito bite left her fighting for her life, two weeks later.

Australia's Good Weekend magazine, that she spoke to said that at the hospital, Rodriguez was given a two percent chance of survival.

Complications resulted in 36 surgeries. Her last surgery was six months ago to amputate both her feet.

According to reports, Rodriguez is the first woman in Australia with above-ankle bilateral osseointegrated implants and mechanical feet.

NFF appoints Eguavoen interim Super Eagles’ boss as relationship with Rohr ends

The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Mr Augustine Eguavoen, currently its Technical Director, as the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles on an interim basis. This is with immediate effect, and follows the termination of the relationship with Franco-German Gernot Rohr, who has been in charge of the three –time African champions for the past 64 months, and is Nigeria’s longest –serving manager.

Following a virtual meeting of the NFF Executive Committee on Sunday, it was decided that Eguavoen will work with Salisu Yusuf (Chief Coach); Paul Aigbogun (Assistant Coach); Joseph Yobo (Assistant Coach); Dr Terry Eguaoje (Assistant Coach) and Aloysius Agu (Goalkeeper Trainer). Former Nigeria captains Augustine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Garba Lawal have been appointed to provide technical and ambassadorial support for the crew.

General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said: “The relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation and Mr Rohr has come to an end. We thank him for his services to the Super Eagles and Nigeria.

“We also want to thank the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports for their collaboration and guidance all through.”

Eguavoen, a former Nigeria captain, was coach of the squad when it finished in third place at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2006. He was on-field captain when the Super Eagles lifted the Africa Cup for the first time on away ground, in Tunisia 27 years ago.

He will now take charge of the team as it begins preparations for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon 9th January – 6th February 2022, and until the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.

Pastor arrested for allegedly conniving with wife to r**e 16-year-old choir member

Men of Ogun state police command on Friday, December 10 arrested one Pastor Peter Taiwo of Christ Apostolic Bible church, Alaja Oke, Saje, Abeokuta, and his wife Elizabeth Taiwo for allegedly conniving together to defile a 16 years old choir member of the church(name withheld).

A statement released by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, states that the pastor and his wife were arrested, following a complaint lodged at Adatan divisional headquarters by the victim, who reported that, while she went to the church for choir practice, the pastor's wife called her and told her to go and meet the pastor in their room because the pastor wanted to send her on errand.

''She stated further that as soon as she got into the room, the pastor's wife locked the door from outside, consequent upon which the pastor overpowered her, and forcefully had s*x with her. She explained further that the pastor's wife later came in after her husband has satisfied himself and met her crying and she told her to stop crying as she is now a woman. She then warned her never to tell anybody or else she will die.

Upon the report, the Dpo Adatan division, SP Salaudeen Abiodun, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy pastor and his wife were promptly apprehended.

On interrogation, the couple confessed to the crime but blamed the devil for it. They also pleaded for forgiveness from the victim.

The victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment.'' the statement in part read

Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation, with the view to charging them to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
