The 16th edition of the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival 2023 tagged has come and gone but the memories of the event will continue to last longer in the hearts of many.
Just as the theme of the event event states "Arise and Shine for thy light has come", we urge all Akwa Ibomites to shine their light so brightly for the world to celebrate them!

YULETIDE: Commissioner Emem Bob Fetes Kinsmen
Locals of Oniong West, Wards 1&2, in Onna LGA have never had it so good at Christmas and New year celebrations like they did on Saturday, 31st December, 2022, when their illustrious son, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Emem Bob, dolled out cash and food items to them in commemoration of the yuletide season.
The economic development boss who played host to his kinsmen at his Mkpaeto residence, in his brief remarks, said the season presents another opportunity to reach out in love to all, saying the birth of in Jesus Christ signifies love, peace and prosperity to mankind.
Flanked by his beautiful wife, Iniobong, he thanked his boss and leader, Governor Udom Emmanuel for affording him the privilege to serve in the state EXCO, adding that his people-oriented projects across the nooks and crannies of Akwa Ibom State has placed the state on the global map.
Mr. Bob, who has consistently reached out to his community within a short period of being appointed a Commissioner, reminded the people of Oniong West 1 that PDP is a religion in the local government, hence should be sustained in the coming elections for more dividends to come.
Honourable Courage Inam delivered the tone setting at the event, while Hon. Nkanang Nkanang did a vote of thanks on behalf of all the beneficiaries. Also, in their separate remarks, youth presidents from the 6 villages who spoke, eulogised the goodwill of their son and prayed God to bless and multiply his coast. They also promised to stand with him to deliver the PDP in the forthcoming polls.
The six villages of the two wards that benefitted from the largesse included; Ikot Edor, Mkpa eto, Ikot Eko Ibon, - Ukpana, Akpabom and Ikot Abasi.

Mustapha Gajibo, a Nigerian university drop-out born in Borno State, Northeast, has made history by becoming the first Nigerian and the first in Sub-sahara Africa to locally produce electric vehicles from scratch with the goal of promoting clean, efficient energy development in conformity with environmental regulations. But despite his failure to complete his study at the University of Maiduguri in Borno State, Nigeria’s northeast, the 30-year-old young genius has joined a long list of notable persons in history who have created something significant that has influenced society and the globe at large.
Mustapha Gajibo together with his team of young people has designed from scratch electric buses that can go 200 kilometres without needing to recharge their batteries. The buses are now in operation in Maiduguri, and he hopes to expand their reach in the near future, making them the first home-built electric vehicle in Sub-Saharan Africa.
2023: A'Ibom Women Holds Solemn Assembly

Akwa Ibom Women under the aegis of Market Women Frontline Association converged in their numbers to pray and intercede for the state as 2023 draw near. The intercessory prayers which held at Women Development Center, IBB Avenue, Uyo had women across the thirty-one (31) LGAs of the State.
The State President, Mrs Affiong Bassey (JP) expressed appreciation to God, particularly for the gift of His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, while also appreciating the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for always giving the women a shoulder to lean on. According to her, God has always responded to the prayers of his people, adding that, “our prayers will bring revival to our dear state."
Mrs Bassey further enjoined the women to cultivate the habit of giving thanks to God for those in authority and pray for them, rather than criticize them unnecessarily. She maintained that the governor's choice of successor in the person of Pastor Umo Eno and other PDP Candidates across the three (3) senatorial districts should be given maximum support in the forthcoming general elections.
During exhortation, the senior pastor of Holy Nation Gospel Ministry - Pastor Solomon Isaac, stressed on the need to always seek the face of God. He admonished the women to learn to pray with burdens in their hearts, for a broken and a contrite heart God will not despise, he will surely answer and turn again the captivity of the state.
In a vote of thanks, the Secretary General - Mrs Martina Udofia, thanked the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ini Adiakpan, SSA to the Governor on Trade, Mr Idorenyin Raphael and to all who contributed to making the Solemn Assembly a huge success.
The event was attended by women leaders across the three (3) senatorial districts, state executives and chapter coordinators amongst others.

Highlights of the announcement made by CBN today.
1. CBN will change the current N200, N500 and N1,000 currency denominations to a new currency.
2. Everyone should start paying the old currency notes into the bank effective immediately.
3. The new currency notes will go into circulation on December 15th, 2022.
4. Collection of the old notes will stop on January 31st, 2023.
5. The old notes would stop being a legal tender by January 31st, 2023.
6. Banks are advised to keep all their deposit centres open from Monday to Saturday going forward for collections.
