A father said to his son:

Son, in your life, don't give up three things: eat the best food, sleep in the best bed and live in the best house.

The son said: We are poor, so how can I do that?

The wise man said: If you only eat when you are hungry, what you eat will be the best food.

And if you work a lot and sleep tired, your bed will be the best bed.

And if you treat people with kindness, you will live in their hearts, and thus you will live in the best of homes.

04/09/2024

I always wanted all my children to be mine, I didn't see this coming, that some day I would have a child that is not truly mine. Eriyanga said.

'What will you do?' His father asked.

'I'll just be a father to him, pour into him and give him the best fatherhood experience he could ever have.'

'Excellent choice, my son.' the old man grimaced with pain as he tried to stand.

Eriyanga rose to help him but his father waved him aside 'You should head back now, put your house in order and keep praying for the wisdom to lead.'

On his way back, Eriyanga stopped by his favourite corn seller and bought a bag full of roasted corn and pear. He'd gone to see his father for clarity and the man had asked him questions that showed him he'd always known what to do. He climbed the stairs do his house like he was gliding on air, a new kind of lightness made him hum.

Helen was waiting at the door when he reached.

'What's going on?' she asked as she leaned into him for a hug.

He kissed her, then pulled her face away from him before saying 'I have peace now. I know what to do.'

The children were in the study, finishing their assignments but the aroma of freshly roasted corn hit them and they came running. He hugged each one and lingered over Iniabasi. The boy pushed gently and went back to join his siblings who were now sharing the corn.

'Come love,' Eriyanga said.

Helen shut the door behind her and settled into the seat by the dressing table. Eriyanga was undoing his tie as he spoke.

'We will not fight this in court.' He raised his hand, signalling his wife to be patient 'Hear me out.' he started undoing his buttons 'Iniabasi will bear his name, Victor has a right to his child. We will lose after prolonged back and forth in court.. you know how these things work in Nigeria. Lawyers will milk us, the police might be involved too if we are not careful.'

Helen started sobbing.

'We will have to tell him the truth, I mean Iniabasi, and allow him meet his father.'

'No!' the scream sounded liquid, wet with anguish, wrapped in mourning. 'No, please... No. I made a mistake..I'm sorry... I regret it all.. I'm sor..' her voice trailed off, lost in the river pouring out of her eyes.

Eriyanga hugged his wife. He blinked back tears. He had to be strong for her. He had to show her he'd truly forgiven her and this decision wasn't punishment of any kind.

When he first heard of her pregnancy, when she came into his office nine years ago, kneeling and weeping and asking for forgiveness, his heart had been torn in ways too many to be put back, or so he thought.

She travelled for a course and was tempted into bed with her ex who had arrived the country. She'd called the next morning weeping profusely. Begging his forgiveness. He forgave her, but broke off the engagement when she returned to Uyo. He told her he had to do it in person.

A month later she showed up in his office with the news. Her ex had returned to Mexico and she was all alone, she wept and begged and looked exactly as she looked now. He walked her out of his office amidst a swollen face and reddened eyes.

He nursed his heartbreak for months.

The first time he prayed for her, his heart ached for her like she were his child. He wept over her, he loved her still. Then he read of Gomer and Prophet Hosea, and knew in himself that God was calling him to forgive his fiance.

The reconciliation was tough, especially because of her swollen stomach, evidence of her betrayal. But love overwhelmed him, he hugged her and promised to be a father to her child.

The church refused to join them. They had a principle of not joining soiled couples. Soiled in the sense that a pregnancy was involved. Iniabasi had been stripped of all positions, awaiting suspension after delivery.

Her family too, had stopped taking her calls, and her siblings distanced themselves from her. It was her mother who tried to discourage Eriyanga from taking her back. 'I'm telling you what I would have told her if the case was reversed. A cheat in a relationship will be an adulterer in marriage.'

He agreed with her in some ways. But the more he prayed, the more he had peace about it. They got married shortly before her due date. His mother came for the birth nursing, Helen's mother would not forgive her for bringing shame to her in church. Her siblings too kept their distance. He was all she had.

When Victor showed up in her DM asking about his son, Helen and Eriyanga tried to convince him to let it go. They explained the situation and how it happened. Victor threatened to fight them over his child, and they'd prepared to see him in court.

'Let's not fight it physically.' Eriyanga was rocking Helen now, 'We'll pray about it and see God's peace over this situation. But no matter what happens nobody is taking my son from me. He might not get to bear my name but as long as he came out of your body, he's mine too.... And always will be.'

'I deserve to hang, to die, to have the wor....' he covered her mouth, stopping the words.

'God forgave you. I forgave you. Don't let guilt swallow you whole... Nothing will happen to Iniabasi and the mistake of nine years ago is not the end of your life.'

'I don't deserve you...I don't understand how you can love me so...'

He kissed her forehead 'I don't understand it too, I just know that each time I pray for you, I love you beyond the mistake of that year... And besides none of us deserves God's love and yet here we are..'

Message from a wise elder

THE HARDEST PART OF MARRIAGE YOU WON'T BE TOLD

Marriage is sweet when you examine it from a far, of those who have successful marriage or the lovey-dovey of newlyweds, but when you enter into, you will discover that what is behind number six is more than number seven.

Many prepare so well for the romantic aspects of marriage, but very few groom themselves for the realities in marriage. Do you know that the hardest part of marriage plays a dominant role in marriage than the romantic moments?

However, what breaks marriage isn't the lack of romance, but the couple's inability to withstand the hardest part of marriage.

There are some hard things about marriage that you are not likely to be told, but I will only share 5 of them with you.

💥 Staying faithful
It's easy to abstain from sëx as singles if you have not tasted how sweet sëx is, but it's very difficult to stay faithful in marriage when you are denied sëx for no just reason.

The temptation to commit is greater than the temptation to fornicat£ as singles.

Because you now know how sëx taste, sëductïøn would come from those who are willing to give you or have a fling with you. In some cases, when your spouse becomes cold on sëx matters, there are several others who want to give you a hot and sizzling sëx.

You need more discipline to stay faithful in marriage to your spouse emotionally, and sëxuālly especially in this age when cheating has become a norm.

If you have not been faithful to stay sëxuālly pure now that you are single, it will be very difficult for you to master it when you are married.

Marriage doesn't cure ãdultëry, self control does!

💥 Séxuäl Issues
See, it is wise that you keep yourself sëxuālly pure till marriage - purity in thoughts, action and word. All those who are deceiving you that who virginity epp only want to destroy you.

One of the hardest part about marriage which many cannot come by is on the issue of sëx. One partner is a novice while the other is an Emeritus professor in lōvémåking; one has a high séxuäl libido while the other can stay for months without it and still feel sane.

Virgînîty helps you to be sëxuālly discipline, it prevents you from undue and ungodly exposure to sëx that could either make you hate it with perfect hatred or make you a maniac in it.

💥 Money matters
Since it's said that money answers all things, money also destroys many things. As money can spice up love in marriages, it can also ruin it.

What is your perception about money?

Can you pull your purse together or separately?

As a woman, do you have the warped mentality of my money is my money, but your money is our money?

As a man, are you ready to work and earn a living or you want to live on your wife's income while dictating how the money will be spent without bringing anything to the table?

Can you open up to your partner about your financial life without secretly building an estate in the village while you feed on his or her money like a parasite?

Until you two resolve this before marriage and in marriage, it is hard enough to crack the nut of your marital bliss.

💥 Unmet expectations
If you have been dreaming of having her remain a slim shady, but eventually after Prêgnåncy, she became a size 15, how would you cope?

If he had been the romantic and available man, but after marriage, the quest for green pasture took him miles away, can you survive this?

It is wise and better to prepare for the toughest part of marriage so that you can cope with them when they come, surely they will come. As much as you prepare for sunshine, don't forget to prepare for storms when they come before rain falls.

💥 Handling differences
Whether you agree or not, handling differences is one of the leading causes of divorce in marriage. Many marriages fail due to irreconcilable differences.

How do you plan to reconcile your differences in marriage should they come?

If he presses the toothpaste from the middle, and she had been raised to be meticulous by pressing it neatly from the base, can you tolerate this?

If she likes the food cold or warm, and you prefer it hot with steaming heat, can you adjust?

These and many others are the toughest part of marriage that you must brace up for. Wedding is just a day or two event but marriage is a lifetime journey.

More than the excitement of the married life, more than the grandeur wedding ceremony, have you been transformed by the renewing of your mind to face any challenge in marriage when they come?

Delay in child bearing, loss of job, relocation, in law issues, financial crisis, trying times or spiritual issues may come; you need to be prepared for whichever one life throws at you so you don't chicken out when they come.

Marriage is haaaard, I'm not scaring you; it's just one of those truths you might not likely be told or you don't want to hear. Finding the right person to marry is hard, but staying married is the hardest in the face of life's realities.

As much as you are preparing for the romantic sides, brew your mind for the hardest part so you can stand having done all when the flood descend, when the rain falls and the wind beats upon your union.

MY FATHER'S ADVICE TO ME WHEN I WAS SEARCHING FOR A WIFE...My son, I will be very raw and sincere with you.Do not worry ...
31/08/2024

MY FATHER'S ADVICE TO ME WHEN I WAS SEARCHING FOR A WIFE...

My son, I will be very raw and sincere with you.

Do not worry about the size of a woman buttock or breast but worry about the size of her heart and brain. Worry about the size of her love and
endurance. Because after 5 or 10 years, it will not be about the breast or buttock.

As you can see, your mum now has a flat chest and almost flat buttock but we still live together happily, I still love her and she still love me.

Be careful of a woman that loves money. I mean the woman that talks ‘every time’ about her hair, cloths, shoes, bags panties and make-ups.
Marriage is not all about these things. Without make-up, cloths, shoes and panties a good marriage will still stand but without love, no
marriage can stand.

When I got married to your mum, I didn’t have a car or house of my own. I was not even educated. But I had dreams and she appreciate
and support me. Any woman that does not support your dream is not worth thinking-a-minute about.

There are women that will see your
dreams better than you, you are lucky if you find one, My son, open your ears very well, there is a kind
of woman you should avoid, do not make a mistake to marry this kind of woman or you will regret it.

I mean a woman that always has bad
things to say about everyone. If you see this kind of woman, run away.

One of the worst kind of woman you can marry is the one that complains about everything. If you buy this, she says you should have bought that, if
you do this, she said you should have done that. Please stay away!

Most women enjoy talking but the one who talks for two hours and listen for two minutes is a
potential ‘bomb’. Be wise

Be very careful of a pretending partner. A pretending woman is not hard to know. She will always know everything about everything, she will be careful. Just close your eyes and open your heart and you will see!

No woman is perfect. If you see a woman who believes in your dream , who respects you who is committed and who is not all about herself alone, then don’t let her go. But remember, you must not be a wayward man.

I have trained you! If you find a good woman but you are a bad man,
you wont have a good marriage!

I won’t pick a wife for you but I have given you my advice. When you find her, bring her for my blessings.

May you find a woman that will increase you not decrease you...

BREAKING: “I’ll Not Leave PDP, I’ll Fight to the End” – Wike Vows, Speaks on Appointment by Tinubu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing rumours of a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike’s stance comes amidst a battle for control of the Rivers state PDP chapter. It should be noted that the former Rivers governor was appointed by President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), last year.

PRESS RELEASE

Nigeria is rapidly transforming into a government of Tinubu, by Tinubu, and for Tinubu.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, asserts that the future of Nigerians has been effectively mortgaged to President Bola Tinubu, his family, and associates. He believes that even after Tinubu leaves office, it will be nearly impossible to break these shackles.

Atiku, who was the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, compares Tinubu's integration of his business interests into Lagos's public enterprises to his efforts at the federal level.

"Just as Alpha Beta, Primero, and others act as Tinubu’s proxies in Lagos, managing critical sectors and generating revenue for him and his family, he has begun to replicate this at the federal level," Atiku said.

He expressed astonishment at the operations of the NNPC and how the government-owned oil company had put its retail arm under the control of OVH, a company in which Oando, led by Wale Tinubu, owns 49%.

Atiku regretted that his intention to privatize the NNPC and increase its transparency has been overshadowed by what he describes as the criminal hijack of the NNPC by corporate cabals around the current president.

"In October 2022, just five months before the elections, the NNPC Retail controversially announced it had acquired OVH and all its filling stations. NNPCL already had about 550 filling stations across the country but claimed it was enhancing its capacity by acquiring OVH, which had only 94 stations and 100 others leased.

"The NNPC did not disclose the purchase price of OVH or the terms of the acquisition. A Freedom of Information request by Premium Times was also rejected by the NNPC, which claimed to be a private company despite still being government-owned.

"Following this dubious deal, Mele Kyari was controversially retained as NNPC GMD despite his incompetence. Tinubu then appointed his former boss at Mobil, turned ally, Pius Akinyelure, as NNPC Chairman, while he himself took on the role of Minister of Petroleum.

"In a move that defies economic logic, OVH, previously owned by NNPC Retail, has now acquired NNPC Retail. This absurd situation means that Wale Tinubu’s Oando now owns 49% of NNPC Retail. Moreover, Nigeria paid Wale Tinubu a significant sum to facilitate the Tinubu family's acquisition of the national oil company. This represents a clear case of illogical business transactions and abuse of office by President Tinubu, who has prevented NNPC from becoming a public liability company as stipulated by the PIA."

Atiku acknowledged that the NNPC and its leadership are under legislative investigation but expressed skepticism about the process's credibility due to the vested interests of those conducting the investigation.

"Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who is heading the National Assembly panel, is a known supporter of Tinubu. He served as a commissioner under Tinubu in Lagos State and publicly calls him his godfather. Given that Tinubu is the Petroleum Minister, he should be held responsible for the sector's issues. I doubt Bamidele will conduct a thorough investigation that might implicate his patron," Atiku said.

Atiku also commented on the recent revelation that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project is under litigation.

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), a global network of investigative journalists, reported that the coastal highway project has been taken to court and revealed a close relationship between Tinubu’s son, Seyi, and Gilbert Chagoury, who was awarded the contract without competitive bidding.

"I had earlier claimed that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project was fraudulent, but the government denied it. Now, the matter is in court. It is also concerning that Chagoury and Tinubu have a business relationship, and their children are business partners, as revealed by the OCCRP.

This indicates a conflict of interest. It is no surprise that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway, which together will cost over $24 billion, were approved without competitive bidding. It seems that whatever Tinubu wants, he gets," Atiku concluded.

20/08/2024

The Esan people are an ethnic group in southern Nigeria who speak the Esan language and live in 5 local government areas of Edo State.

They are known for being agriculturalists, hunters, trado-medical practitioners, and mercenary warriors. The Esan are similar to the Edo people of Benin in language and customs, and the name "Esan" is an Edo word that means "jump" or "flee".

Between 500 and 750 AD, the Esan were hunter-gatherers who colonized the Benin Empire's forest ecosystem and the savannah-forest ecosystem of Esanland. They built advanced structures, such as walls and moats, around their family properties to demarcate residential and agricultural areas. These properties eventually became villages, and by 800 AD, the villages had coalesced into kingdoms with hierarchies.

The Esan enjoy pounded yam with ogbono soup and bush meat, as well as their native black soup, omoebe. They also appreciate other Nigerian cuisines.

I have been married to my husband for 14yrs now. We have four children together, all girls. I used to be sad about it but my husband has always assured me that he was okay with having only female children.

I started dating my husband when I was 18yrs old. This is to say I have spent over half of my years on Earth loving this man.

One of the policies I created for my marriage was that I will never check my husband's phone no matter what. My husband has never given me a reason to even check his phone. He always come home early and he is a very dedicated husband and father.

"Why create a problem where there is none?".

Our anniversary was on the 26th of October. He was away in Abuja for a business meeting but he promised to fly back home for the celebration that day.

With the help of my girls, I was able to organize a surprise dinner party. I invited some of his close friends and even his immediate younger sister was present.

It was getting late and my husband was still nowhere to be found. I tried his line severally but it was switched off.

Disappointed, the guests had to leave one by one. I cried my eyes out that day.

I didn't hear from him that night. My girls and I didn't close our eyes through out the night. That was so unlike my husband.

Around 8:30am the next day, my phone rang, it was my father in-law.

"Bisola, Andrew is admitted in St. Phillips general hospital, Ogun State. Please go there now".

"But He is in Abuja". I said without noticing that the line was already disconnected.

Like a mad woman, I quickly put one and two together and carried my children to my parents house who were as surprised as I was. From there, I made my way to Ogun State.

I got to the hospital and met my husband in a very critical condition. He was on life support. There were bruises all over his body. I thought it was an accident until the doctor told me my husband was stabb*d 15 times.

I started crying. I called my in-laws who told me they were already on their way.

I held my husband's hands and was crying.

"Baby please don't leave me alone in this wicked world. I can't do this life thing without you".

In the evening, my husband's parents and his elder brother arrived from the village.

It was then I got to know that my husband was brutalized by his baby Mama. Apparently, my husband has a 3yrs old son with another woman.

They had an argument and my husband hit her. With anger, this woman called her boyfriend who is a cult*st and they did this to him. Thanks to good neighbors who rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, only the boyfriend was apprehended. The woman is still on the run.

Tears dried up immediately from my eyes. All I felt was disgust and hate for my husband.

"Did you need a male child so bad that you did this to me???? You told me you were okay Andrew. You told me female children are also important. You told me to stop crying and worrying myself over having a male child. Why didn't you tell me you weren't okay ". I said these words with tears. I was inconsolable. My mother in-law tried her best to pacify me.

"We warned him to leave that woman but he wouldn't listen ". My mother in-law said.

So, they were even aware of their son's affair. I felt a fresh wound in my chest. I never would have guessed my husband would do this to me.

I stormed out of the hospital in anger and boarded a taxi to take me to any nearby park. My husband is reaping what he sowed and I won't be part of it.

I was still in the taxi when I remembered our marital vows.

"For better or worse... In sickness and in health... Till death do us part".

I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I was short of breath and couldn't even breath. The driver had to park somewhere and made sure I was good.

When I was a bit calm, I asked him to take me back to the hospital.

I returned back to the hospital and tended to my wounded husband. I hated him but I still needed to do what I have to do as his wife.

The next day, his parents and his siblings travelled back to the village. I was left alone with him. My mother came the next day and stayed with me for two days before traveling back to cater for my children. I put my life on hold to stay by the side of this undeserving man.

It wasn't easy for me at all. My husband was in coma for two weeks before he finally regained consciousness.

He couldn't look me in the eyes. He couldn't speak yet but his face showed he was ashamed of his actions.

He began to get better day by day although some of the injuries were looking so bad.

One evening, I was dozing off by the side of the bed when my husband held my hands.

"My wife, I am so sorry".

I was startled. I didn't know he has even regained his voice.

"I didn't want to bother you. I just needed a son to bear my name. I am sorry, that woman is far beneath you ". My husband said.

He was in so much pain. I just told him to stop speaking and wait till he gets better for us to settle scores.

I held his hands and we were both crying. I fell asleep.

That was the last time I heard from my husband. He died that night.

I cried my eyes out. His family came and took his body to the village.

I finally got reunited with my girls. They were asking about their father and I didn't know the answer to give them.

My husband was buried two weeks after.

I was in the palour with my mom when two men came into the house. I was given a notice to quit. I was surprised. My husband built this house. Who is quitting me

"Madam, this house was sold to my client last week. I would advise you to vacate this building before the due date". One of the men who is a lawyer advised.

"Who sold this house". I asked perplexed.

I was presented with the house documents which now bear the name of a new owner. The house was sold by my late husband's baby mama who is still on the run.

My agony got tripled. "This house was built by my husband and I. I contributed to the building of this house, I don't deserve this". I cried out.

I decided to go to the bank to make enquiry about my husband's finances when I got the shock of my life.

My husband changed his next of kin from my name to his son's name. The son his baby mama had for him.

My world has crumbled 😭😭😭
