just to let you know I resigned from my current position at Bridge Radio 98.7 FM Asaba, today, Friday December 29, 2023. So I'll be taking this time off to relax, enjoy the rest of the festive season, complete a project and then get back on Radio.

I made a post about this earlier this year and some people came for me, accusing me of encouraging laziness in the choir, but I’ll say it again and this time I’m sure you’ll understand it better.

Singing lead is not a reward for backing up faithfully overtime, it shouldn’t be. We need to stop making it seem that way.

The back up role isn’t where God is testing you before He lets you have the lead mic after you have been proven.

They are two separate roles, and require separate skill sets.

Both the lead and back up roles make up the full music. The lead singer depends heavily on very good back ups to do well and the back ups depend on a good lead singer to perform well.

I know people who have sang back ups professionally thier whole life and I’m talking about people in their 70s.

Stop desiring the lead mic so much that you think you’re not growing because ‘all you do is sing back up’

MDs should stop making lead singers feel like they are better than back up singers.

You will know the importance of good back up singers the day you have to sing without them.

The backup role is a lot more technical than singing lead.

Personally, I’m terrible at singing back up, I’m better at singing lead. I respect very good back up singers.
