Few patriotic Igede Comrades like Prof. Johnson Agbinya, Comr. Obam Thomas and Mrs Lizzy Aogo have supported the renewal of these sites in times past, others ignored our plea.

These sites help us put Igede name out there on the internet, with regular updates of Igede news, Igede related articles, publishing of many Igede songs online and more. But, it's more of a selfless service for the fatherland, as we gain less or nothing from their existence.

If anyone can still save the sites, we'll be glad. Otherwise, we'll loose them.

OMI NY'IGEDE WOMEN WING CHARGES GOV. SEYI MAKINDE TO DO MORE FOR THE IGEDE COMMUNITY IN OYO

The Igede community resident in Oyo, under the popular Omi ny'Igede, the apex sociocultural group of the Igede nation, on 16th December, called on the governor of Oyo State government for inclusion in his government. The women through their leader, Honourable Mrs Mary Ajaja, appreciated the governor for his ardent support of the Igede community in the State and urged him to do more.
Speaking to Agba TV which was live to cover the 4 Years Anniversary and Thanksgiving Ceremony held at Assemblies of God Church, Ido local government of the state, Hon. Ajaja enumerated great achievements by the Omi ny'Igede in the State, through the women Wing.

The Guest Preacher at the event, Pastor Philip Ajah from the Redeemed Christian Church of God urged the women to fortify themselves with love and unity of purpose stressing what can be achieved when a people are strongly bonded together in love.
Pastor Ajah who described Makinde’s Government as ordained from God the feedback from the people has clearly affirmed the words of the Bible which says “when the righteous rules, the people rejoices,” while calling on the Igede community to continue to support the the Governor in his transformational policies and programs.

Similarly, a notable Ibadan based philanthropist and an ally of the Governor, Chief Benedict Akika, who graced the event expressed gratitude to the Igede women community for their continuous support for Makinde and his government since its inception in 2019 urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the present administration. Speaking to Agba TV, he declared that the Igede are already native of Oyo land and can call Ibadan their second home.

He however, as a show of support to the Omi-Ny Igede women end of the year Thanksgiving empowered selected women with cash gifts to boost their businesses while assuring that the Makinde led government would continue to prioritize the well-being of all residents in Oyo state regardless of religion or ethnic affiliations. The governor has them in mind, he added.

Earlier in her address, Honourable Mary Ajaja, who was the immediate past Administrative Assistant on Community Development and Social Welfare to the Governor under Omititun 1.0 said, the Igede community in Oyo state has never had it so good in terms of ease of doing business, good rural-urban road network with easy access to agricultural markets.

According to Ajaja, who is the Oyo state Coordinator of the Omi-Ny Igede Women Wing, the event was significant and important to express appreciations to God for his grace upon them and to Governor Seyi Makinde for his transformational policies and programs that have had positive impacts on their agricultural businesses.

She noted that despite the numeric voting strength of the Igede community in Oyo state that spans over six decades, past politicians with exception to former governor, Late Adebayo Alao Akala, have only taken advantage of her people’s voting power during elections with vague and failed campaign promises.

Explaining that Makinde didn’t only gave the Igede community more recognition as the Governor of Oyo, Ajaja said there has been a steady positive turnaround in their agribusiness which has directly impacted their business and household finances positively.

“We’re very grateful to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for his vision for Oyo state, this is the most peaceful and accommodating state in Nigeria and that is why it is our second home after Benue state. So, we feel obligated to as a matter of civic duty to Oyo state, contribute our quota to its development.

“No matter how we tried, if the state wasn’t blessed with a visionary leader like Governor Makinde, our efforts as farmers and smallholder agribusiness operators wouldn’t really manifest but with the pragmatic and all inclusive approach to governance by the Governor, there’s equal sense of belonging and we owe it a duty to continue to provide the needed support in our capacities.

“Our people must remain united in love and passion for one another especially as women. We know the role of a woman is to build and we know know what it takes to build anything. That is why we appeal to our women to sustain this spirit of togetherness that has helped us grow together. A lot can be achieved when there’s unity of purpose.

“The Governor can not do everything under eight years so, expecting that all problems would be solved under this limited time would have been an illusion but when critical infrastructure and the economic sectors are getting such genuine attention of a governor, then we all owe such government our civic duty to participate adequately and that’s what we will continue to do as a people.” Ajaja said.

Recall that the President of Omi-Ny Igede in Oyo state, Comrade James Ajah, while expressing appreciation to Makinde for the opportunity given to the Igede community through the appointment of Hon. Mary Aaja under Omititun 1.0, equally appealed to the Governor to in line with an inclusive approach to governance consider the appointment of Hon. Mary Ajaja under Omititun 2.0.

Ajah had equally appealed to Makinde, who has announced the appointment of representatives of the Igbo and Hausa communities into Omititun 2.0 to also consider the Igede community which he said has one of the three largest voting population that worked for the Governor’s electoral success in both 2019 and 2023 being residents across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state, majorly as farmers.

While noting that Makinde has through his laudable policies and development plans demonstrated to the world that there can always be an exceptional leader in a society bereaved of good leadership, the Omi-Ny Igede women coordinator assured that the Igede community remains strongly behind Makinde’s government to succeed on its Sustainable Development Agenda under Omititun 2.0.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE RELEASES THE LIST OF STANDING COMMITTEES AS RT. HON. OGEWU BAGS MEMBERSHIP OF TWENTY-ONE (21) COMMITTEES

Today, the leadership of House of Representatives, led by Rt. Hon. Dr. Tajudeen Abass released the list of the House Standing Committees. The house had earlier named the committees inline with its oversight functions.

Consequently, the Honourable Member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. David Agada Ogewu, FCAI was assigned membership of twenty-one House Committees. The committees include; Aviation Technology, Basic Education Examination Board, Christian Pilgrims Affairs, Commerce, Corporate Social Responsibilities, Federal Colleges of Education, Health Institutions, Hydrological Services HYPADEC, Institutional Reforms, Internal Security of the National Assembly, Legislative Budget and Research, Privatization and Commercialization, Rules and Business, Science Engineering, Special Duties, Custom and Excise, University Education, Gas Resources, Housing and Habitat, Poverty Alleviation and TETFUND and other Services.

The above is in addition to his position of the Deputy Chairman of House Committee on Army. The resourcefulness of this young parliamentarian must have been the reason for the membership of these committees.

OHUMA, OBORU AND OYE ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS NOT MERE DONATION OF TRANSFORMERS

It's no longer news that the good people of Ohuma in Ukpa/Ainu-Ette council ward as well as Oboru people of Oboru in Oboru/Oye council ward have taken delivery of two transformers courtesy of the intervention of the member representing Oju/Obi Federal constituency at the National Assembly, Rt Hon David Ogewu FCAI, what many do not know yet is the fact that what is coming the way of these agrarian communities are full-scale electrification projects.

This may well not be news to the people resident in these communities anymore because on 26th and 27th September 2023, the survey team visited Ohuma-Ukpa as well as Oboru and Oye communities respectively to inform the community leaders about the development coming to their communities.

The survey team which was led by the SLA to Rt Hon Ogewu, Barr Josiah Ojenya, a special adviser to the governor of Benue State, Chief Isaac Onwu and Oju LGA APC chairman, Hon Mike Ona had briefed the communities that through the instrumentality of their representative at the National Assembly, the communities had been selected for electrification.

These projects received life on 16th October, 2023 with the delivery of two transformers — one at Ohuma-Ukpa and the second one at Oho-Oboru and works have continued on the sites particularly in the installation of the transformers.

The delivery of these transformers is the first phase of these projects and more transformers are expected to be mounted across these communities as soon as possible.

It is also in the plan that full works towards the extension of the National grid to these communities will commence commence as soon as the contractors handling the projects are duly mobilised for the second phase of the project.

*ALIA ASSURES OF MORE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ATTENTION AS highways IN THE STATE ARE APPROVED FOR REHABILITATION*

_Friday, September 15th, 2023._

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, assures the people of the state that Benue under his leadership, and federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will witness the construction and rehabilitation of more road networks across the state.

The Governor’s assurance is coming after the Federal Government recently gave approvals for the general rehabilitation of some key federal roads across the state following requests from him.

The Federal roads to be rehabilitated are:

1. General Rehabilitation of the Aliade-Gboko- Yandev Federal Road.

2. General rehabilitation of the Gboko- Lessel- Ihugh- Tse Mker Federal Road

3. General Rehabilitation of the Oju-Otukpo Federal Road.

The Governor discloses that he is already in constant contact with the Federal Government for speedy completion of the Makurdi-Ugbema road, as well as the rehabilitation of some failed portions of the Katsina-Ala-Vandeikya- Ogoja federal road.

He further stated among other things that apart from the ongoing construction of roads/streets within Makurdi metropolis, some other metropolis in the state including, Gboko, Otukpo and Katsina-Ala will soon receive similar attention adding that opening of rural roads is also prominently featured in the plans.

The Governor calls for more support for his administration as well as that of the Tinubu led Federal Government, to enable them to deliver good democratic dividends.
