LIFE SENIOR FELLOW OLÚWÁRÓTÌMÍ ỌDÚNAYỌ̀ AKÉRÉDOLÚ HAS CLIMBED THE TALLEST PALM TREE

REQUIEM BY THE PALMWINE DRINKERDS KLUB

From the shrines across the universe, we chant your ode on the field of palms with the voices of Kegites and honour your exit to the land of your ancestors. There, we disobey the law of gravity with the sadness of Chiefisis, Fellowsis and Comrads that imbibe holy water tapped by a tapper that climbed the palm tree upside down to sing your swan song. You were a songitto with a larynx that vibrated with the temerity of a cello; your voice travelled across the horizon with the beauty of the rainbow as you cricketed like a turaco from a diaphragm that thundered like a caterpillar shuffling with the kariability of a lion.

Olúwárótìmí Ọdúnayọ̀, ọmọ Akérédolú, you were Àkétì, a Life Senior Fellow of the Supreme Comradium and a songitto that rotated on his axis like four left turns that became a roundabout. Your voice interacted with both terrestrial and aquatic animals as you vibrated songs until songs started singing about you in a sing-song of singing. O yes, you were the Jugnu with the white beard that titillated with the audacity of palm wine; your voice bellowed where tigers mellowed; for you were the songitto that sang in processions like virgins waiting for the bridegroom on the wedding day of their master. Oh angels welcomed Àkétì’s voice like the alleluia chorus while he echoed in gyrations with the capacity of a bazooka to make the world shake like Shakespeare.

LSF Olúwárótìmí, your kariability bent komradoes like Bendel as you led processions that frightened evil ones into their closets like an Amaggedon wreaking destruction on its pathway. You tanwijized with steps that brought the world to a standstill. We bless God for your life; for you were the golden voice that twanged with the capacity of a bassoon. You trumpeted where only elephants were heard and caused confusion amongst komradoes to inflict cataclysm in the gathering of the enemies of culture.

Arákùnrin Akérédolú was a Senior Advocate of the Bar of Nigeria and a tsunami that shook the courts from his chambers. He was a wonder that commanded grace to the meetings of the eminent; the man of his words, a devotee of honesty and blue blood loaded with the fear of God in his heart. Olúwárótìmí was the raging inferno amongst men of power. He governed his state (Òńdó) with the confidence of David and exhibited in his strides, the fairness, fearlessness and faithfulness of Solomon that many envied. The Master of Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn was a cacophony in the arena of kidnappers. His integrity spoke to the high heavens and at the mention of his name every knee of enemies of Òńdó state bowed down in their cocoons.

My Life Senior Fellow was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Supremost Kegites International; his warmth made the seas smile with joy on his watch whilst his stand made rivers swim to the shores with a throttle that made seafarers laugh. If he had frowned, waves would have ricocheted across the wild beyond the banks of goodness. But at home, ọkọ Betty was the husband of his wife and the man with a third leg that stood at attention in the parade of honour where men are respected for the dance of their pelvic girdles behind closed doors.

But on 26th December 2023, a mighty wind blew and a great rain fell as Òdùmàrè looked across His garden of palm trees and the beautiful fronds on their hinges. Olódùmarè spoke the blessings of the day as the oracle divined that across the seven seas and the rivers of blood and indigo; on the horizon and over the seven colours of the rainbow, Olúwárótìmí Ọdúnayọ̀, the son of Akérédolú must climb the tallest palm tree and arrive with the saints to the banks of eternity.

At the shrine of the Palmwine Drinkerds club across the universe, Kegites listened as Kariables remembered Àkétì whilst their one-fingers saluted the news of the arrival of the Life Senior Fellow Ọdúnayọ̀ Akérédolú to the home of saints with the agitation of a Pentecostal speaking in tongues. Palmtrees bent like Benders as the peace of the keg floated across the waters. Kegites across the universe sang Ado hi maiwo, the procession song, whilst on the other side, the Guild of Forefathers prepared to welcome a new Ancestor to their fold as angels welcomed the news with a cheer of music that only Paradise can provide.

On Friday 25th February 2024, the jollification shall continue as the Master Songitto shall ride in his final chariot into eternity to join his ancestors from the tallest palm tree and live in his final mansion six feet deep into the earth forever. Across the universe, Kegites shall stand with their one-finger salutes of unity in diversity to cheer LSF Olúwátótìmí Akeredolu, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Supremost Kegites International's procession into eternity and with their emblems on their hands the Supremost Comradium shall chant Àkétì’s departure dirge to remind him to
“Drink on, drink on in eternity,
Holy water is good for you,
Holy water from Palm Tree
Shall make you happy every day”

And by the powers conferred on me by the Supreme Comradium, I, Ọládiípọ̀ Fágúnwà (Chief Igbó Irúnmọlẹ̀) on behalf of Chiefisis, Fellowsis and Comrads of the Supreme Comradium across the universe decree that from today forward, You, Life Senior Fellow Olúwárótìmí Ọdúnayọ̀ Akérédolú Àkétì becomes an ancestor and joins the league of forefathers on the other side where there is neither day nor night; that you cease to interact with us in flesh but only felicitate with us in dreams, pictures, films, videos and stories; that you walk and never stumble in eternity; that your throat shall be forever wet where Holy water never ceases; that your voice be heard in the arena of Kongos with other ancestors; that of unseriousness you make seriousness in the presence of your Maker, that your kariability continues to excel where kutalos in the dreamland are in gyration and by your finger they shall know you. *KEGITES CLUB INTERNATIONAL RESTRUCTURING CONFERENCE AND THE ENEMIES OF PROGRESS*

There have been series of efforts in the last two/three weeks by some unscrupulous elements to sabotage the planned *RESTRUCTURING CONFERENCE/SUMMIT* slated for this weekend at the World headquarters of the club, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife. I want all members of the Kegites Club International to pls disregard anybody discouraging them not to attend the *Restructuring summit* under whatever guise. They don't mean well for the club.
I am not going to bore us with stories of what led us to where we are today in the club but I know that posterity will judge everyone for our roles in the present imbroglio.
Those that are afraid of the Restructuring summit are the real enemies of this club. Pls disregard them and let us sit down to move the club forward. The organizers of the Summit extends invitation to all agrrieved parties for everyone to come and say/table their grievances if any for discussion and resolutions. That only is a pointer to Peace and should be embraced by everyone that truly love this club.
A Metuselah Chief of the club that supposed to be a rallying point for all few days ago wrote an epistle on his Facebook wall acussing everyone, making frantic efforts to distort the history of the club and calling on people not to attend the conference. Pls disregard him. He has never contributed positively to this club since he left school over 30yrs ago! You can only hear his voice on comradic matters when there is crisis, immediately peace returns he withdraw back into his shell. There is no point disipating energy in replying such a person. We should be focused on the coming restructuring conference. When the time comes people like him will be placed where they righly belong in the garbage of history! They have also been using many of their agents to write against the proposed Restructuring summit on different Kegites platform. We should not allow their darkness to triumph over lights. It is our collective duty to revive this club, settle our differences and move the club forward. They have all enjoyed a united Kegites Club and they all have friends all over the world because of the unity and oneness of the club. The opportunities they have enjoyed and still enjoying is what they want to deny the coming generations for reasons best known to them.
I salute the courage of Ab Chiefisis of 2023/2024 keg year for organizing this conference and I pray their efforts will put the club back on track. I am also using this medium to charge All Elders invited to moderate the Restructuring Conference to pls put in their best and use their wealth of experience to bring back the club to the right path.
Long live Kegites Club International.

*INVITATION FOR RECONCILIATION: MY CANDID OPINION*

Good day responsible and cultured agbalagbasis.

Having painstakingly perused the invitation from the AB world chief for reconciliation and restructuring of our dear club, I was happy that we are moving forward, at least, a step ahead. Kudos to the world chief for adhering to this national clamour.

It must be noted that the exercise has been agitated a long time ago before his era and I am proud, without any prejudice that, I was one of the crusaders of this step long ago. Therefore, any ridiculous, barbaric or churlish tantrum from any small boy, either in Nigeria or in the diaspora against people like us is inconsequential. We have received more than enough of it and they have been making us popular the more.

*Nitty gritty*

1. The invitation is good. No doubt.

2. The notice is short to converge such a population. It needs a lot of publicity and planning. People outside Nigeria may consider their attendance and participation worthy. You never can tell. If it is still possible to review the date, that will be good. But if not, no problem.

3. The venue also should have been a central or neutral place. Ife is not bad, but for two reasons;
(I) Distance in my assumption. Majority are in lagos and ibadan. Hmmm. There can be scepticism too
(ii) Security mentality. Ife is safe but there is this erroneous impression of bullying always alleged against WHQ. Therefore, can the venue be changed? If no then let us have it outside OAU campus. Get a good hall in town. A place where everybody will feel save. Strictly my opinion.

4. It would have been best for AB world chief to reverse all contending issues regarding suspension and dekegation and then invite all aggrieved and affected entities for the meeting, but technically, it may be difficult for him and be counterproductive. AB world chief can not singlehandedly do that. *A karid chief will not* . My fear now is,

*where and how will the meeting enjoy trust and transparency from the target audience?*

5. Without a transparent agenda, everybody will continue to doubt the sincerity of the purpose and the population of participants my be poor. Don't we need a population of brilliant, intelligent and foresighted members? We do. It should not be a jamboree of mediocre but learned people with constructive criticism in order to have numerous ideas to adopt.

6. If my (5) above is valid and germaine, I therefore suggest to the AB world chief to consult widely and pick some elders in odd number.
They must include reputable *Grand Patrons, elderly chiefesis, elderly females and LSFs* across viable hemispheres as the *arbitrators*.

(I) These arbitrators *must not* be from World HQ or National HQ. This is because the two HQs are surrounded by allegations and counter-allegations. So we may have one or two from any of the HQs who have a case to answer or may be referred to as a result of their involvement in one subject matter or the other. Remember you can not be the accused and the judge over your matter.

(ii) The names of the arbitrators must be publicised immediately. Let the whole comradium see the names of the arbitrators and be convinced that they will have a fair hearing. This will be in leu of reversal of all suspension and generation.

Otherwise, may the meeting not be like that of the several previous ones both in ijebu Ode and Abeokuta.

Let me reiterate that this is my candid opinion which I feel will do us good.

Prayers was made while the meeting was officially opened at exactly 12:49pm by the Chairman of Èkó Council of Chiefesis (Ab Akete)

The meeting was opened with deliberations and a motion was raised by Ab Akete (Èkó Chairman) about the upcoming Èkó World Jara, and Chief Soji raised an opposition that we should pick our discussions from the most important matters using the proverb "Tí igi bá rè lu igi ti òkè ẹ la ma kọkọ gbé" (Meaning: If Trees fall on each other, the one at the top is first to be lifted) that we should start from our resolution which leads to other issues.
Chief Olokodana butress further on the point and added to it that we should discuss the issue (challenges) in every Ilya and how we can develop our Ilyasis and Hemisphere at large.
AB Tecco seconded the motion and buttress the motion with the example of the activities in LACOST transformation and Tecco Exam Palliative, that we should come up with ideas to make good impact on the Hemisphere.
Chief Waheed stood up and emphasize on peace and unity in the Hemisphere (ÈKÓ). Despite these discussions the Chairman (Ab Akete) still raise an observation of the Èkó jara stating that he wants the Council to conclude first on the Èkó Jara motion before other things.
This led to lot of deliberations and and it was eventually sealed by 03:22pm moving forward that:
A. The total estimates of the proposed expenditure that will be incurred to plan the Èkó Jara by the committee should be divided into the 9 Ilyasis in Èkó Hemisphere and all Ilyas should pay theirs into an account that will be provided moving forward, which was earlier suggested by Chief Gbenga
B. That if any Ilya refuses to pay their own part of the contribution, such Ilya will be sanctioned by the Council.

Chief Gbenga discussed on the resolution saying we should rephrase it while Ab Tecco seconded that after sealing it, and that no Ilya must refrain from it.

Chief Olokodana suggested on the Hemisphere having our stand and having proper invitation for each function, then we should withdraw our formal resolution and rephrase it. Chief Eniafe lacost suggested that we shouldn’t include World or National again, that we should stand alone just like other Hemisphere such as Eastern Hemisphere e.t.c.

Chief Lekan Akete (Baby Lawyer) suggested that we should hold World Council of Chiefesis to ransom by sending a letter to them which should include posers and must be replied within 7days (1week) if there is no response, then we should make our decision and go by it, so that things will be done formally incase of any misunderstanding in the future, so that we would have evidence to hold them with.

Chief Seyi (Gaddafi du Shark) spoke on some things he has noticed since he joined Kegites Club and how things are, after all he suggested that we should just write to them that we want to stand alone for now.

Chief Asekun Ekundayo spoke on Chief Waheed's suspension that according to 1963 Palm Wine Drinkards Club sealation, only an Ab Chief can tender his Agbada before the tenure of his suspension would commence.
He further added that, XY World was contacted based on Chief Waheed's case and XY World’s response was that until he (Chief Waheed) presents his Agbada, his suspension tenure will not commence. Whereas, Chief Waheed haven’t been Wearing his Uniform) i.e Agbadarising since the day of the pronouncement of his suspension. Chief Ashekun also used Chief Valentino Lagoon as a precedent 13-14 sealation.

Chief Soji Tecco suggested on way forward that our resolution still stand and that Ab World & National should stay clear from Èkó Hemisphere functions till further notice.

Ab lagoon also added that we should rewrite the resolution

Chief Idris Sarumi Point out an error that was made in the previous resolution (Communique) he said:
1. That the Hemisphere is strongly under the umbrella of KEGITES CLUB
INTERNATIONAL (KCI).
This first line alone still kept us under the power of the World Headquarters and anything said over there will surely be binded on us as read in the first paragraph of the letter. That instead of that, we should rewrite that Èkó is standing alone from all body and count all pronouncements from World Council of Chiefesis as null and void which was eventually made as a motion and seconded by Chief Eniafe Lacoste.

Chief Gbenga Osunrimade suggested that each Ilya should send a representative for the registration of Èkó Hemisphere.
Chief Ajayi Ab Akete included that the names of the representatives should be sent through the Ilya's letter head with their Ab Chief signature appended on it.

Ab Tecco discussed on we meeting the Oba’s in Èkó.

Chief Asekun Ekundayo discussed on having an account for the Hemisphere for the use of sponsorship for any entities that has issues.

Chief Makinde also discussed on data-base of the Hemisphere that will keep the records of all Entities of Èkó Hemisphere, and Ab Nateco (Feda of the Hemisphere) responded that there is a data base on ground that as been sent out to the Hemisphere for all entities to register while Fadasis was on the point that we should have sent that to the Council to be sealed before proceeding and it’s was sealed immediately

In conclusion all deliberations was sealed and the meeting was closed.

*MOTION BEEN SEALED:*
1. @ exactly 4:52pm it’s was sealed that Èkó Hemisphere is seceding from KCI

2. @ exactly 4:53pm it’s was sealed that World Headquarters and National Headquarters are not to be recognized in Èkó Hemisphere functions till further notice.

3. @ exactly 4:55pm it’s was sealed that all pronouncement from World Council of Chiefesis in the last 3years on ANY matter concerning Èkó Hemisphere is hereby *NUL & VOID.*

4. @ exactly 4:59pm it’s was sealed that any Ilya in Èkó that goes against this resolution shall be sanctioned and not be recognized by the Hemisphere until such Ilya make amends.

5. @ exactly 5:08pm Èkó Hemisphere Council of Chiefesis Nullified Chief Waheed Akete's suspension as pronounced by then Ab World, now XY World and the Council, for him to be recognized viamus Supreme Comradium and anyone others that is affected by such pronouncement should write to Èkó Hemisphere Council of Chiefesis for further action(s).
