Baba-Aminu is a writer, illustrator, cartoonist, and poet. His written and illustrative work is featured in bestselling graphic novel anthology ‘The Most Important Comic Book on Earth’ (Penguin UK), and his writing has appeared in a slew of publications including ‘The Passenger’ (Italy and UK), ‘Za!’ Magaine, and others.
His work has been translated into French and Italian, and he is currently putting finishing touches on his first novel, ‘The Herdsboy’, a work of Africanfuturism.
Baba-Aminu, for over a decade, was the Editor – and editorial cartoonist – of the Saturday edition of the Daily Trust, one of the most influential newspapers in Nigeria, with an influential body of journalistic and cartooning work that spans two decades, before pivoting to advertising.

“Agaba, Dance with a Mutant masquerade” formerly titled „Dance of Time“,

In 2021, I was part of an anthology series involving other creators globally, with Triggerfish as my producer. The development work lasted for two years and in April, 2023, nearing production, we received news of the project’s cancellation due to “unforeseen production constraints”.
Wait! No pity here. The universe always has a plan.. and in my case, it is always the BEST!
Back then, during the meetings, the carrier commented on the story’s richness and how 15 minutes could capture its essence. My consistent response was: „Make it a feature!

Fast forward to November 2023, the feature version was written, incorporating more of the impactful elements from my childhood in Igbo Ukwu, living the masquerade culture.

Respecting the „ex-carrier’s“ wish not to be associated on-going after the return of rights does not mean I have to hide my gratitude to the incredible individuals who were with me on this journey. I gained valuable insights which are not very strongly interpreted in my last narrative work “The in „The Legacy of Rubies“.
Therefore, to celebrate one year of the cancellation (divine plan) here’s to Oluwa, Gulan, Sinden, Nyeke, Pickering, Chitenderu Ramsey, , , and the entire team – thank you for the two years together, shaping something truly special. Though our original intent didn’t materialize, the impact of the foundation work you laid is huge, a testament to the power of storytelling to unite and inspire, evolving and resonating with audiences.

There are many other individuals in this process whom I cannot mention because mentioning them here would hint at the “ex-carrier”. Therefore, to these others, I am forever grateful appreciate you immensely.
