A petition by Reno Omokri, a former Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, on the change.org platform has received 76,420 signatures as of 12.39 pm on Friday.
The petition, which was filed on Wednesday, was directed at the International Criminal Court and comes after the Lagos panel indicted the Buhari administration in its report.
At over 75,471 signatures, the petition is the first of Nigerian origin to hit that number in two days.
The petition is titled, ‘A Petition to The International Criminal Court to Arraign Muhammadu Buhari for Crimes Against Humanity’.

SANWO-OLU ACCUSED OF ORDERING LEKKI SHOOTING
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu is being accused of ordering the shootings at Lekki Toll Gate last year. A non-governmental organisation which made the claim in Abuja is demanding his resignation. Punarimam Fehintola reports.

: 11 Killed, Four Missing, 24 Injured At Lekki Toll Gate -Lagos Panel [FULL LIST]
The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses and other matters on Monday presented its report which revealed that 11 protesters were killed at the Lekki Tollgate on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Four persons were declared missing while 24 others were injured that night.

The full report is everywhere. This is from the same panel that the government set up. Except they want to deny their own Judicial system.
The Government reps and supporters that have commented on this issue since last year have told different lies and gaslighted the entire events.
Those that have been speaking the truth since 20/10/20 have remained consistent with their truth.
So what happens next? What will the government say or do next?
Innocent Nigerians have been killed. Some others threatened, some others vilified, bullied and dehumanized all for speaking the truth and demanding Justice.
Now that the government have discovered the truth by themselves, what punishment awaits all those involved? How many people will resign and answer for their crimes ?
Will the government come out to apologize to the families of all victims and those that have suffered oppression from their hands?
Will Police brutality and oppression end?
What steps will be taken to ensure we do not experience anything like this again?
Or is this just a plot to keep us busy till election time?

Actress Annie Idibia on Friday apologised to her musician husband, Innocent, popularly known as 2baba, for the heartbreak her actions have caused him.
In September, Annie took to Instagram to call out her husband for alleged infidelity involving his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi.
Her post led to a reply from the singer’s brother which further broke into a war of words between Annie’s family and her in-laws.

The United States Mission in Nigeria will open visa applications for students with effect from November 24.
The Mission said it would be expanding operations to better serve the student population in the country through a special procedure for those who need to renew the student visas to continue their course of study, and a series of dedicated interview days for prospective new students.
The mission in a statement on Friday explained that an individual may be eligible for a priority student visa interview slot if the applicant is a prospective student seeking an F1 visa appointment and if he has not been refused an F1 visa in the past six months.

The Indigenous People of Biafra on Monday said neither it nor the Eastern Security Network was responsible for violence in Anambra State which stakeholders said could disrupt the November 6 governorship election in the state.
The group also said the four persons reportedly killed by the military in Nnobi, in the Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, were bandits recruited by politicians to hijack the election.
The secessionist group in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, insisted that there was an ongoing genocide in the South-East zone, saying it was worrisome that the international community and the rights organisations were not doing anything about it.

A Point-of-Sale operator, Samuel Ayodele, has accused a soldier, identified only as Williams, of defrauding him of N100,000 in the Ketu area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the soldier on October 26, 2021, drove a black Hilux to Ayodele’s shop to do a cash withdrawal transaction of N100,000, as he requested the operator’s account number to transfer the money into it.
After receiving Ayodele’s account number, the soldier reportedly showed him that the N100,000 had been debited from his account.
The operator, however, denied receiving a credit alert in his bank account.

A letter has shown that Prowess Engineering Limited, the company that began the construction of the building which collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday withdrew from the project in February 2020.
The company withdrew its services on grounds that it no longer shared the same vision with its client believed to be Fourscore Heights Limited as addressed in the letter.
Prowess Engineering Limited, which had constructed two other buildings for its client, said it couldn’t guarantee the integrity of the third (collapsed building) from anything above the fourth floor.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has said he has yet to see or receive a formal extradition request from the Federal Bureau of Investigations for Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, following his indictment by a US court.
Baba said this on Thursday while fielding questions from State House correspondents at the ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking on the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, and the famed extradition request made by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation for the senior officer, the IGP said he had yet to receive any such request.

Most residents of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have resorted to the use of firewood and charcoals for cooking. This follows the hike in the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, also known as cooking gas.
The price of the cooking gas which has been embraced by a larger percentage of Nigerians has risen from its former price of N400 and N500 to between N650 and N700 per kilogramme, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The hike in the price of the product led to high patronage of firewood and charcoal which costs N100 and N200 respectively and are equivalent to one Kilogramme of cooking gas.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday announced the parent company’s name is being changed to “Meta” to represent a future beyond just its troubled social network.
“We’ve learned a lot from struggling with social issues and living under closed platforms, and now it is time to take everything that we’ve learned and help build the next chapter,” Zuckerberg said during an annual developers conference.
“Our apps and their brands, they are not changing,” he added.

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, has said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has a strong political will to fight corruption in Nigeria.
Owasanoye said this during the presentation of a paper titled, ‘Anti-Corruption Legislations, Policies and Practices: How they Align with UNCAC, OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and other Regional Conventions on Preventing and Combating Corruption,’ at the 26th INTERPOL Global Programme on Financial Crimes and Assets Recovery in Abuja recently.
The ICPC Chairman, who was represented by ICPC’s Director of Operations, Mr. Akeem Lawal, stated that the Buhari regime was known for not interfering with the work of the anti-corruption agencies.

The World Bank has disclosed that about 9.4 million people could become climate migrants in Nigeria by 2050. This disclosure was contained in a new World Bank’s report, Groundswell Africa: Internal Climate Migration in West African Countries.
The report stated that internal climate migration is unavoidable but the effects differ from one country to another due to how climate factors interact with demographic and socio-economic factors at the local level.
“No country in West Africa is immune to internal climate migration, but the scale in each country will depend on how the climate factors interact with demographic and socio-economic factors at the local level.

The fate of the erstwhile Commander, Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, is hanging in the balance as the Police Service Commission awaits the recommendations of the Force Disciplinary Committee on his case.
It was gathered that the FDC’s recommendations would form the crux of the commission’s decision and also determine Kyari’s future in the Nigeria Police.
Our correspondent had reported that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, last month dispatched the Special Investigation Panel report on Kyari’s alleged roles in the $1.1m fraud perpetrated by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi and four others, to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the PSC.

Ahead of the G-20 leaders’ summit this weekend, 48 UNICEF African ambassadors have called on leaders of the world’s wealthiest nations to deliver more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Africa.
They argued that G-20 countries had received 15 times more COVID-19 vaccine doses per capita than countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The call, contained in a letter addressed to the leaders, has as signatories Nigeria’s Tony Elumelu, Davido, Kate Henshaw, and Femi Kuti, among other renowned UNICEF ambassadors, including Angelique Kidjo, Arlo Parks, Tendai Mtawarira and Ramla Ali.
The UNICEF ambassadors called on the G-20 leaders to fulfil their pledge to donate vaccines by December, along with the necessary resources required for vaccination.

Bandits have invaded Yanbuki village in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing seven people and stealing 1,500 cows and sheep.
An indigene of the village, Garba Musa, told our correspondent that the bandits stormed the village on Tuesday night, shooting indiscriminately.
Musa said, “Immediately they arrived, they opened fire on anyone they could see. Everybody ran helter-skelter to protect themselves.
“They later moved from house to house, searching for foodstuffs and animals and also broke into many shops.

The E-Naira speed wallet has disappeared from the Google Play Store barely 48 hours after its launch, The PUNCH has observed.
However, our correspondent learnt that the eNaira merchant wallet, which is designed for businesses, is still running and has over 10,000 downloads on the Google Play Store made available to Android users.
Checks on the Apple App Store showed that the eNaira speed wallet was still active but had been upgraded.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said the rendition of its Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in Nigeria will not weaken its cause, but would rather destabilise the country.
This is IPOB said by ‘kidnapping’ and ‘renditioning’ Kanu, the country committed an international crime, adding, “The world doesn’t need any further proof that IPOB is a peaceful movement.”
The secessionist group stated this in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH, on Tuesday.
The group was reacting to a statement credited to the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rted), Shehu Garba, on Sunday night, that the arrest and trial of Kanu, would lead to the end of the IPOB.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday, displayed before a Federal High Court in Lagos, a virtual projection of a Compact Disc with 51,933 pages analysis of the iPhone of popular Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley.
The EFCC projected the virtual, through its second witness, Mr Augustine Anosike, a forensic analyst.
Anosike was still leading pieces of evidence in the trial of the defendant, who is facing 11 counts, bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards as well as fraud.

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Tuesday, said neither the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.). nor his party, the All Progressives Congress, can solve the problems facing the country.
The group said it had lost hope in Buhari solving the country’s problems, saying the exit of the President in 2023 will end the problems facing the country.

A former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, said on Tuesday that petrol imports figures were inflated when global oil prices went up during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and the regime of the current President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)
Sanusi, who spoke on Tuesday at a panel session during the 27th National Economic Summit in Abuja, said the subsidy on petrol was responsible for the inflated figures.
Until May 2016, when the Federal Government announced a new petrol price band of N135 to N145 per litre of petrol, private marketers imported petrol into the country and were paid subsidy claims by the government in order to keep the pump price lower than the expected open market price of the product.
