THERE'S STILL A SLIM HOPE FOR TOBI TO COMPETE IN THE FINAL.

World record holder Tobi Amusan narrowly missed out on a spot in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, clocking 12.55s in the first semi-final to finish third. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to secure an automatic qualification or one of the fastest non-automatic spots, with France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela edging her out with a time of 12.52s.

Despite this setback, there’s still a slim hope for Tobi to compete in the final. According to the rules, if any of the eight finalists withdraws due to injury or other reasons, Tobi could be called up to replace them.

Experts in athletics, including former Olympic medallist Deji Aliu and coach Lekan Soetan, explained that disqualification wouldn’t apply in this situation as Samba-Mayela’s step out of her lane in a straight race doesn't warrant it unless she impeded another athlete. However, Tobi remains the first alternate in case a finalist is unable to compete.

All hope isn’t lost yet—miracles can happen! We’re still cheering for you, Tobi!

TOBI AMUSAN SHINES IN PARIS: QUALIFIES FOR 100M HURDLES SEMI-FINAL S!

World record holder Tobi Amusan has secured her spot in the 100-meter hurdles semi-finals at the ongoing 2024 Olympics in Paris!

Leading the pack with an impressive time of 12.49 seconds, Tobi finished ahead of America's Alaysha Johnson (12.61) and Jamaica's Janeek Brown (12.84).

Tobi is undoubtedly one of the top contenders for the gold medal, but she faces a strong field that includes the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, USA’s Alaysha Johnson, world champion Danielle Williams, and reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.

The semi-finals are set for Friday, August 9, with the final on Saturday, August 10.

At 27, Tobi has been in fantastic form, recording a season’s best of 12.40s at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in May. She also set the African indoor record for the 60m hurdles twice earlier this year.

In addition to her stellar individual performances, Tobi has clinched her third consecutive African Games title and anchored the women’s 4x100m relay team to gold.

This season, she has competed in 17 events, including the 60m, 100m, 100m hurdles, and the 4x100m relay.

Let's cheer Tobi on as she races towards Olympic glory!

NIGERIA’s D’TIGRESS TO FACE USA IN OLYMPIC QUARTER-FINALS!

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been drawn against the United States in the quarter-finals of the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Our incredible ladies have made history by securing Nigeria’s first-ever berth in the last eight of the Olympic basketball tournament. This achievement followed their impressive 79-70 victory over Canada in their final group game on Sunday.

Initially topping Group B with five classification points, the team’s standing shifted to third place after Australia’s 79-72 triumph over France.

Now, D’Tigress are set for a challenging encounter with the defending champions, USA, on August 7 at 9:30 pm. This will be the second Olympic face-off between the two teams. At the Tokyo Games, D’Tigress narrowly lost to the Americans by nine points in their opening group game and were also beaten in the 2024 Olympics qualifiers.

Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, Serbia will clash with Australia, Spain will take on Belgium, and France will face Germany.

Let’s rally behind our D’Tigress as they aim to create more history and make Nigeria proud!

STUNNING VICTORY FOR NIGERIA’S U-18 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM!

On Friday, Nigeria’s U-18 women’s basketball team, the Young D’Tigress, delivered an incredible performance by crushing Liberia 90-9 in their FIBA U-18 AfroBasket Zone 3 qualification clash in Abidjan.

This dominant win sets a high bar as the team prepares for their next game against hosts Ivory Coast. The outcome of this game is crucial, as it will determine which team secures the coveted spot in the final round of the tournament.

Nigeria, Liberia, and Ivory Coast are all vying for the sole ticket to the 2024 FIBA U-18 Women’s AfroBasket, set to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, later in August. Côte d’Ivoire, which has earned two silver medals in five appearances at the U-18 tournament, is eager to return to the podium for the first time since 2014, counting on their home advantage to push them past Nigeria and Liberia.

For Nigeria, this is a significant opportunity. Having appeared in the final rounds of the U18 championship twice (2008 and 2010), where they won a silver medal, the Young D’Tigress are keen to make a triumphant return to the competition after their absence since 2010.

Let’s cheer on our Young D’Tigress as they aim to secure their place in the final round and make Nigeria proud!
