As we read this, we have no idea what might be happening to Prof Onje-Gywado, a former Deputy-Governor of Nassarawa State in central Nigeria after having been forcefully taken from his home early Friday morning. In Zamfara State, no less than 87 persons, including women were also abducted a day ago. Benue State, also in central Nigeria which has been the epicenter of killings is back in the news....

How a population of 1.4 billion people can decline that drastically is a different debate outside of the radius of this piece. It is 100 years of Frankfurt School which gave the world what is known in social theory today as ‘Critical Theory’ (different from critical theory which is much more plural). The world of scholarship is agog with the anniversary and for understandable reasons. The Frankfurt School is, arguably, the first and boldest source of the hint that Enlightenment thinking has a serious deficit and that the wars, slavery, colonialism and other forms of atrocities or historical injustices that overshadowed the science, reason and progress it promised were all logical implications of the very idea of the Enlightenment, not problems that arose from mismanagement....
