Gospel singer, Morenikeji ‘Egbin Orun’ is dead.
Morenikeji Adeleke, a popular Gospel singer popularly known as Egbin Orun, is dead.

Her death was announced by her colleague, Esther Igbekele, in an Instagram post late Saturday.

Igbekele, who posted with the username , expressed sadness over the demise of the late singer whom she described as a “beautiful and kind-hearted woman” who was supportive of her.

Igbekele recalled that she and EgbinOrun spoke last week, adding that she’ll be greatly missed.

Her post read, “I got home from my programme to hear about this great loss. Prophetess Morenikeji Egbin Orun you left without saying goodbye.
“We spoke together last week not knowing you are about to embark on a journey to the great beyond. You are such a beautiful and kind-hearted woman and a very good supporter of my ministry.

“I am deeply saddened at your demise but God knows best. You will be greatly missed and your good deeds will continue to linger in our hearts.”

Igbekele added with teary emojis, “Ah Egbin Orun. Good night! Keep resting in the bosom of Christ. Ah Gone too soon. .Yeeee.”

In another post via her Instagram handle early Sunday, Igbekele wrote, “You will be greatly missed Morenikeji Egbin Orun. May your soul find eternal rest. We love you but God loves you more. Heaven has just gained an angel. Happy you always.”

However, the cause of her death remains undisclosed as there’s been no official statement from the family of the deceased or the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria at the time of filing this report.

Tinubu at WEF: We removed subsidy to reset the economy, avoid bankruptcy

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, said petrol subsidy was removed to steer Nigeria away from bankruptcy and reset the economy towards growth. He also called on the advanced nations to promote policies of “collaboration” and “inclusiveness”, by injecting capital to support poorer nations tackle challenges in the areas of agriculture, food security, innovation, and technological advancement.

The President, in his opening remarks at the opening plenary of the Special World Economic Forum WEF, holding in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, noted that “capital formation is necessary to drive the economy, like agriculture, food security, innovation, and technological advancement must be an inclusive program of the entire world”

“ To this forum, it is valuable for us to share experiences and share the hope of the future. What is missing, is the words “collaboration” and “inclusiveness.”

The Nigerian leader, who counseled the global community against stigmatizing the poorer nations, added that “No one should be left behind. The fear of lack of capital in Africa, is real”

“Stigmatization is also a big challenge and I am glad the world is recognizing the need, that the type of population growth that Africa experienced and the diversity of its resources, must be married with economic opportunity. We must collaborate to do that”

“Did you bless me to embarrass me? Why me?” Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie that claimed the lives of Junior Pope and 4 others, cries out.

She also says, “God this is just too much for me, What am I living for? Please lead me, Lord.”

I had wanted to make a post concerning how I felt about the emotional trauma this lady would be passing through as at now some few days back but on a second thought, I thought better of it cos I didn't want many social media users to misunderstand me and come for my head as e dey hot then as would have been the case.

But I was touched when I saw this post from Legit today and people's comments under the post which suggests that many already now feel for the young lady whom some said is a nursing mother.

I started seeing her in movies for the first time around 2012/2013 and was surprised to find out she was the Adanma Luke producing the said movie when I saw her picture considering when she joined the industry and how long she had been there. But that's not the area of my interest for which I am making this post.

Now this is it: Do you know that this single movie project that brought about this unfortunate incident has just messed up this lady's career if not forever! Talk about tarnishing a person's image and personality, this is it.

While we blame her for not providing basic necessities for her crew (even though we've heard different versions to the story currently), we should also remember that 'Daring Temptations' are no respecter of persons. We live in a world where anything can happen anytime! It's not just about how careful or careless one is! Events like this do not ring a bell before it strikes! Someone commented on the Legit post that 'THE PRAYER 'LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM ALL EVIL' IS A SIMPLE BUT YET VERY POWERFUL PRAYER'. How true!

THE FULL MEANING OF THE WORD ''WIFE''

Some of people will ask, what is the meaning of wife?, who is a wife?, how do you know a wife material?, and so on, but the answer is not far fetched. It your opinion that makes you define your meaning to wife.


In this article, i will define wife in an acronym, which are;

W - Wise in communication

I - Industrious and Innocent in character

F - Forgiving in conflict

E - Excellent in counsel and comfort

If as a wife, this acronym does not tally with your character, you can never win your spouse.

Let analyse the acronym, one by one.

1. W - Wise in communication

Many wives have wrecked their homes and marriages due to poor communicating skill. As a wife, you need wisdom to communicate certain issues and ideas to your spouse. A great communicating skill will help you have great access to your husband and home at large.

2. I - Industrious and Innocent in Character

Secondly, if you want to win your husband to yourself, you must be Industrious i.e hardworking. You may be hardworking in the circular aspect, but you also need to bring it to family and marriage aspect. Try as much as possible you can to put the house in order and your marriage will be like heaven here on earth.

Also, as a wife, you must try as much as possible to be innocent in character. This means that your spouse should not have reason to suspect you, neither should he think that you are always keeping a secret from him. You must be plain in dealing with him.

3. F - Forgiving in Conflict

In every relationship, conflict is always part of the journey and it has an antidote which is forgiveness.

As a wife, forgiveness means letting go the pains you received when being hurt. It also means surrendering your right to hurt you back if you hurt me. One may be tempted not to forgive considering the gravity of the offense, but if you let it grow into full hatred, you are gradually losing your emotions towards the relationship and if not careful

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara on friday received Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, led by the chairman, Hon. Bamidele Salam,

The Governor assured that his administration will apply funds from the state's internally generated revenue on areas that will bring positive

He specifically emphasised the priority areas to include education, healthcare and agriculture adding that the effort will not preclude road infrastructure.

Governor Fubara revealed that his government inherited the challenges of non-promotion of the state's civil servants for 11 years with a workforce of about 52,000 and a wage bill of over N5.3 billion, stressing that on assumption he promoted the workforce and the wage bill increased to over N8billion.

He emphasised that with the increase his administration had to also rejig the internally generated revenue mechanism and that led to an improvement from previous of between N12billion and N13billion to between N26billion and N27billion.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Bamidele Salam commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for being conscious in his determination to serve the people and not being distracted by challenges.

He said the peaceful nature of the state and the governor being a driver of good governance made the Committee choose the state for the retreat to serve as a template to other states.

Two soldiers were very friendly, great friends. One evening one soldier comes back to the trench but finds that his friend has not returned. Many people have been killed on the front. He becomes afraid — is his friend killed?

He enquires, and then somebody says, ‘We are not certain that he is killed, but he was so terribly wounded that it was impossible for him to come to the trench. By now he must be dead.’

It is getting dark now and the enemy is still firing madly but the soldier wants to go and search for his friend.

The officer says, ‘No, this is foolish’, but he doesn’t listen to the officer — he goes.

It is very difficult in the dark and there are thousands of corpses all around.

He looks and looks and in the middle of the night he returns — dragging his friend’s dead body on his back. He himself is now terribly wounded, mortally wounded… he cannot survive.

The moment he reaches the trench he falls on the floor with the body of his dead friend.

The officer comes and he says, ‘I told you not to be foolish! It was not worth it. Now you know what you have done to yourself. The friend is dead and you are dying!’

The dying man opened his eyes and he said, ‘But it was worth it — because when I went there, he looked at me and he said, “Jim, I knew you would come.”‘

For love, life can be sacrificed — it is worth it.

27 states fail to access N54.9bn UBEC fund

17th April 2024
TWENTY-SEVEN states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, have failed to access the sum of N54.9bn basic education fund provided by the Universal Basic Education Commission.

The funds are lying fallow, despite the growing number of out-of-school children in the country.

The N54.9bn figure is obtained from a document prepared by UBEC in March 2024, showing state-by-state matching grants not accessed.

The document, which was signed by UBEC’s Director of Finance and Account, Adamu Misau, said the sum of N54.9bn was not accessed by states as of March 28, 2024.

Arewa PUNCH investigations have revealed that as more Boko Haram insurgents who surrender their arms and ammunition to the government and renounce acts of terrorism and banditry continue to be reintegrated into the life of normalcy, there are big concerns that the females among them are increasingly finding it difficult to get male spouses.

More findings indicate that even as the repentant terrorists are settled into their various home communities, the females among them have complained that since their return, it has been difficult for them to marry as the law-abiding men in the society avoid them like a plague.

This fresh concern, Arewa PUNCH gathered, constitutes a matter for serious concern to the various community leaders.

Our correspondent reports that official records put the total number of surrendered insurgents and their families at 162,000, but no such records show the number of spinsters, divorcees, or widows among them.
