DG NYSC Tells C/Ms

The 2024 Batch A Stream I Corps Members in Katsina State have been warned not to embark on late hours journey as well as unauthorized ones throughout their period of service.

The NYSC Director General Brig Gen YD Ahmed gave the warning on Tuesday 5th March, 2024 in a virtual Debriefing to Corps Members and Camp Officials in the orientation Camps nation wide.

In order to forstal the risk of accident and other hazards associated with it, the DG enjoined them to break their journey when it is 6:00 pm and report to any Military formation, Police formation or any of the NYSC formation to pass the night," he added

He implored them to Internalize the teaching of the orientation course programme by showing positive attitude at their places of primary assignment.

He further urged them to continue with the post-camp training and not to be absent at their places of primary service .
The DG advised them to respect the people they will stay with and to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities

NYSC Katsina Closes Camp a in Low-key Ceremony

The closing ceremony for the 2024 Batch A Stream 1Ccrps Members deployed to Katsina state closes in a low-key ceremony on Wednesday 6th March ,2024.

The NYSC Katsina state coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Muhammed, presided over the ceremony and urged the Corps Members to dedicate themselves with renewed vigour and commitment to the progress of Katsina State and Nigeria in general. "You should at all times conduct yourselves as agents of change and symbols of national unity and integration... you must build bridges across your origin, religious and ethnic background by living peacefully with members of your host community". She added.

Speaking further, she noted that perfect security comes from the Almighty God but she enjoined the Corps Members to take seriously the security tips contained in the pamphlets which had been given to them by the NYSC. She adviced them to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement around them to security agencies.

The Coordinator also advised Corps Members to leverage on the in-camp training program they had in the orientation course and engage themselves in the post-camp training during the service year. Aisha disclosed that there are government-established centres that are highly subsidised for them to get the post-camp training. She however adviced Corps Members to accept their posting in good faith, especially to rural areas where their services are mostly needed. Hajiya Aisha wished the Corps Members a successful service year.

SAED Training Ends with Flamboyant Exhibitions and Competitions in Katsina Camp

The 2024 Batch A Stream I in-camp training and other Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) activities came to an end on Monday, 4th March 2024 in Katsina Camp.

The NYSC Katsina State Coordinator Hajiya Aisha Muhammad, addressing the Corps Members, expressed happiness over the level of participation, stating that the exhibition made is a replica of what was seen during the i hands-on training
Hajiya Aisha commended the Corps Members for their interest in learning additional skills. She emphasized on the need for them to go out there for their post-camp training.

She disclosed that there are government-established centres which had been highly subsidised for the Corps Members to engage themselves in the post-camp training.

She therefore called on the 2024 Batch A stream I Corps Members to leverage on the opportunity provided by the in - camp training and joined the post - camp training. She urged them not to relent in their efforts but to take up the post-camp training without further delay as they're leaving the camp.

Earlier, the schedule officer SAED in katsina NYSC secretariat Alhaji Nurudeen Mannir has briefed the Corps Members , state coordinator and other officers including the SAED monitoring officers from Abuja, that the Corps Members have shown a high level of commitment and dedication in the in-camp training stressing that they were ready for the post - camp training

The program witnessed exhibition across skill areas, as well as competition in selected areas such as make up, interior decoration, cosmetology, and hair-styling.

The program was attended by all camp officials including the state coordinator Hajiya Aisha Muhammed, who declared the SAED activities on camp closed, to the glory of God.

Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Debriefs 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members

As part of activities marking the end of orientation course for 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Katsina State, the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator Hajiya Aisha Muhammad on Tuesday 5th March, 2024 debriefed the Corps Members and Camp Officials.

The event, which was held at the Pavilion of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, MD Yusuf Complex, Mani Road, Katsina, gave the corp members the necessary information to guide them during their service year.

Speaking to the corps members, Hajiya Aisha admonished them to be respectful of the culture and traditions of their host communities at the respective local governments they would be posted to.

Speaking further, Aisha reiterated the need to be security conscious, avoid night journeys, be mindful of their environment and ensure that they adhere to the approved NYSC uniform dress codes and that their Identity cards are always in their possession for easy identification.

The Coordinator further advised the Corps Members to accept their postings in good faith and warned them about posting NYSC official matters on social media, adding that erring Corps Members would be sanctioned accordingly.

She also warned them against engaging in immoral relationships with their students for those that would be posted to schools; and cautioned them against short-cuts to wealth as it would lead to disastrous consequences

Aisha also warned the Corps Members against inducement of rejection from their employers

Highlights of the event was the presentation of letters of commendation to some outstanding Corps Members and Camp Officials who participated actively during the orientation programme.

5 AND 8 PLATOONS WIN FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL GAMES

The 2024 Batch A stream 1 inter platoon Sports Competition in Katsina Camp ended on Saturday 2nd March, 2024
The results for the Competition is as follows

Declaring the competition closed, the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator expresses her appreciation to the Sponsors - the Nigeria Customs Service , Katsina State branch and the sports Committee for a good job
Aisha commended the participants in all the games for applying the spirit of sportsmanship and playing the games according to the rule

Aisha further expressed her joy saying that the competitions ended in colours and glamour.
She attributed the success to the Almighty Allah who has seen the activities through to the end

High point was the presentation of trophies and medals to participants.

The Cultural Carnival Is Not Just a Display Of Colors But a Celebration of Values That Bind Us Together,

The NYSC Katsina State Coordinator, Hajia Aisha Muhammed, has told the 2024 Batch A stream 1 Corps Members deployed to the state that cultural carnival is not a mere display of colors dances and festivities but a celebration of the values and customs that bring us together as one people, regardless of our different backgrounds.

Aisha Muhammed made this assertion during the 2024 Batch A stream 1 cultural carnival, which was held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, MD Yusuf Complex , Mani Road, Katsina, on Saturday, 2nd March , 2024.

Declaring the event open, the State Coordinator, Hajia Aisha Muhammed, said that our cultural diversity is our strength. She explained that the cultural carnival is a testament to the resilience and tenacity of the Nigerian spirit.

She called on the Corps Members to reflect on the impact that culture and tradition make during the service year.

She further explained that individual uniqueness in terms of skills acquired and abilities of each Corps Member can contribute to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.

She therefore encourages the Corps Members to embrace the Katsina Community and it's rich culture and tradition as they embark on the NYSC community development project.

Through this according to the Coordinator, the bond between the NYSC and the people will be strengthened.

The State Coordinator, Hajia Aisha, appreciated and commended the Corps Members and Camp Officials for their participation

In attendance were the executive chairman of Mani Local Government who is also the landlord of the Orientation camp in Katsina State Dr Yunusa Bagiwa

Be Good* *Ambassadors of Your Schools, Your Self, Your Family and The NYSC - Alhaji Abubakar Ardo

The Ag Director, NYSC North East Area Office, Bauchi, Alhaji Abubakar Ardo Mohammed has called on the 2024 Batch A stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Katsina State to be good ambassadors of the scheme, their institutions, their parents and as well as themselves. He urged them to avoid generalizing comments and making derogatory statements about people and their tribes. He advised them not to involve themselves in the local politics of their host communities
The director made the call on Wednesday, 28th February, 2024, while addressing the Corps Members deployed to Katsina state at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, MD Yusuf complex, Mani Road, Katsina. The Director urges the Corps Members not to commit crime stressing that being Corps Members, does not give immunity. He as well advised them to always dress well in the NYSC kits, so as not to face sanctions by the authority of the scheme.

Alhaji Abubakar also urged the Corps Members to imbibe the habit of discipline and resilience as they can only attain success with these virtues. He further advised them to maximise their service year experience by embracing the golden opportunity provided by the NYSC skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

Earlier, while welcoming the Director to the camp, the NYSC Katsina state Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Mohammad, extolled the good characters of the Corps Members describing them as well behaved, obedient and highly disciplined. She also reported that the NYSC staff as well as the collaborating agencies were very supportive and working in synergy.

The visit was well attended by all camp officials and Corps Members.

The RTD Deputy Director visits Katsina Camp, urges Corps Members to stay and serve in Katsina State.

The Deputy Director, Alhaji Namadi Abubakar Sanusi, advised Corps Members to serve in their respective deployment States.

He urged them to be determined and ready to serve their nation, Nigeria in where ever they found themselves without question

The Deputy Director made the call on Thursday 29th February, 2024 while addressing the Corps Members deployed to Katsina State at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, MD Yusuf Complex, Mani Road, Katsina State.

The Deputy Director equally advised the Corps Members against the submission of fake medical reports and fake reasons for relocation.

He advised them to be patriotic and loyal to their State of deployment, as well as having respect for their employers

He also enlightened them on the guidelines that can contribute to a successful and meaningful life.

The Deputy Director also added that the Corps Members should not discriminate against the culture and religion of their host community; instead, they should respect the culture and tradition of Katsina people

He further took the Corps Members through the origin and establishment of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

He said the effects of the civil war that devastated the country during the 30 months civil war was what formed the NYSC that we are seeing today.
Alhaji Namadi encouraged the Corps Members to stay in Katsina State and serve their fatherland without fear or favour.

Corps Members Are To Access Health Care Services Free Of Charge - Coordinator NHIA Tells C/Ms

The Coordinator National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Katsina Chapter, has on Thursday 29th February, 2024 told the Corps Members deployed to Katsina State that as Corps Members serving their fatherland , they are entitled to free health care services courtesy the NHIA.

The message was passed by the Coordinator who was represented by the head of programmes of the Insurance Authority , Alhaji LAWAL Tukur during a public lecture to the Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp , in Katsina

The Coordinator disclosed that the NHIA is mandated to ensure the security of life of Corps Members which includes an all inclusive platform.

Also speaking Alhaji Sulaiman Abdulhadi, also from the NHIA told the Corps Members what they stand to benefit from NHIA.

He spoke on a benefit package, which includes the free medical services to the beneficiary Corps Members.

He said that the NHIA operates on different levels , the Primary level for basic health services , the Secondary and Tertiary level which includes advanced services like CT scan, MRI etc

He told the Corps Members that they were entitled to free medical services throughout the service year period and even during their two week terminal leave after the service year.

He also spoke about conditions and ailments not covered by the NHIA such as a female Corps Member getting pregnant twice during service year

He also added that in usual circumstances, no Corps Member will be asked to pay for their treatment except on exceptional cases where the bill is shared between the Corps Member and the NHIA.

The Corps Members were also encouraged to contact their LGIs first before anybody else in cases of illnesses and ailments to get proper direction.

No 3 Platoon Came Best in Mind The Gap Debate

On Saturday, 24th February, 2024, Corps Members of the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 deployed to Katsina State were engaged in Mind The Gap digital training program which was designed to expose Corps Members to digital skills and marketing.

Presenting the topic to the Corps Members, the resource person who represented google Nigeria, Mr Jonathan Edino , stated that the Corps Members will be trained to acquire digital skills that will enable them create wealth in digital marketing using their smartphones.

Flagging off the programme, the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator Hajiya Aisha Muhammad urges the Corps Members to be serious with the training as many Nigerians that had learnt such skills are seriously benefitting from it

The Mind The Gap program also came with a debate topic, "Mentoring secondary School leavers(NEET, Not in education or employment); A call to leadership,"
which the Corps Members competed for according to their platoons. 3 Platoon came best, while 10 platoon came second and 2 platoon came third. The first position, went home with a sum of 30,000, the second, with a sum of 20,000 and the third with 10,000.

Excitement as number 2 platoon wins the inter-platoon drill competition.

The 2024 batch A stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Katsina State held their inter platoon drills Competition on Friday 1st March, 2024

The event which took place at the camp parade ground featured platoons 1 to 10 and 2 platoon won the best amongst the ten.

The chief judge, Lt. M. Musa of 17th Brigade, Nigeria Army, Katsina, while announcing the result, said that the drill competition is aimed at inculcating in Corps Members the spirit of discipline for national integration

He declared that the platoons members who participated had no winner or loser, which means all of them tried their best and won the competition accordingly.

However, as a game which must show a winner and a loser, the chief judge, Lt. Musa, declared that number 1 platoon came third in the competition while number 7 platoon came second and that the overall best platoon in the drill competition goes to number 2 platoon.

The chief judge also announced that the best
overall parade commander among the ten commanders who led the platoons was the number one platoon commander.

Number 5 platoon however concealeded the last position and was given the long wooden spoon which stands for the poorest award in the competition

The NYSC Katsina State Coordinator, Hajia Aisha Muhammad, who witnessed the event from the beginning till the end, commended the Corps Members for their level of discipline and dedication and their show of the spirit of sportsmanship in their performance.

Hajia Aisha said that comparing the time of practice and their performance, she would give it up that all the platoons have done very well.

She therefore congratulated all the platoons for their participation in the drill competition.

Hajia Aisha expressed her profound gratitude to the camp Commandant, Captain A.S. Musa, and other officials from the 17th Brigade, Nigeria Army Katsina, for making the event a huge success.

The event was attended by all camp officials, including the State Coordinator Hajiya Aisha Muhammad.
