This one-day event will bring together practitioners from the FCT and Nigeria to share their thoughts and experiences of accountability and inclusion as sitting at the heart of democracy.

The speakers come from all sectors of society and include government officials, elected and aspiring politicians and civil society representatives and they will discuss how they work to improve accountability within their various political contexts to ensure more effective and more transparent governance.

THE CONVERSATIONS

Now that you have your PVC, what next? Did you think it would end with registering/collecting your PVC? No my brother/sister.

That is just the first step in the journey of a thousand miles towards a FREE and FAIR electioneering process.

There are many questions that come after getting your PVC.

For example, how do you protect your vote? It is important to vote but it is even more important to ensure you protect your vote.

1. Protect your vote by ensuring you exercise your franchise to vote the candidate of YOUR choice. Do not succumb to vote buying. 5000 Naira May solve your problems today but it will not solve your problems tomorrow if you sell your vote to bad leaders.

2. Protect your vote by staying back to verify numbers. Do you know how many people are registered in your polling unit? How many registered voters were accredited? How many votes were casted per party? How many total votes at the end of the day?

3. Protect your votes by identifying your party agent at your polling unit.

Another question that arises is, How to engage in Peaceful voting?

Peaceful voting is important in the determination of election outcomes. If your polling unit records electoral violence, all your votes may be declared null. Unscrupulous politicians may also take advantage of the chaos to manipulate numbers of votes.
It is important that you remain calm during the entire process and to also encourage your fellow voters to remain calm. Whenever you identify a person attempting to incite violence or disrupt the process, immediately hand them over to the security agents at your polling unit.

After elections are over, what are the next steps? Your role as a citizen doesn’t stop at voting. How do you hold leadership accountable? This begins with interrogating aspirants to the political offices that affect you directly, from Councillor to President. Interrogate their manifestos and make demands for causes that matter to you. When they get elected into office, hold them accountable by calling them out on their own campaign promises.

Advocate for bills and laws, speak up against bad leadership and promote the successes of your elected leaders using personal platforms and community fora such as town halls.

How best to advertise D**e Chukwumerije’s Made in Nigeria show? The hype will never live up to the reality, so, I stopped trying...

Here’s the story behind Nigeria’s most profound Poetry-For-Stage production. We take it one day, one location and one stop at a time. For in the last 6 years, we have travelled 18 out of 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with this beautiful product; entertaining, inspiring patriotism, mending hearts, building bridges and stirring up faith in the Nigerian identity.

Without fail, whenever people, whether those who are close to cast and crew or those who are complete strangers, whenever people finally get to experience MIN, the reactions are always the same. There’s always that reverential respect mixed with amazement and wonder. And you have people, from Maiduguri to PortHarcourt asking, ‘Why? Why didn't you say it was like this all this while?’

And therein lies our problem. How do you begin to explain the beauty, hope and faith that is Made In Nigeria? Except to say it like this. Missing 5 minutes of the very beginning of the show is missing a wealth of information, entertainment and knowledge and yet, watching even the last 5 minutes of the show is is gaining entertainment, information and knowledge. To chance upon any 5 minutes of the show is to chance upon some of the most meaningful 5 minutes of your life.

MIN is truly a technology - A show that has transcended the norm and yet retains the originality of the Nigerian spirit and the essence of selflessness and love and even evokes patriotism, deep empathy and a deep longing for nationhood.

That feeling of nostalgia for simpler times and a sense of history. That anger and pain of yesterdays lost, and yet the joy and fun of today. A fresh hope of a tomorrow filled with possibilities. The perfect mixture of all the above and then some just begins to present a picture of what the Made In Nigeria show is.

A show so profound, that to watch it a 100 times is to learn 100 lessons. So much so that cast and crew never get tired of the show. We have guests who have watched the show more than 5 times.

You see, I can't tell it all for you know the game we play in Africa and Nigeria especially, where packaging reigns supreme above good and excellent content. I do not want to hype it because no spin is good enough to put on the National treasure that is the Made In Nigeria show.

18 states and counting, we look forward to Lokoja, Kogi state and Jalingo, Taraba state. Yes, it isn’t easy. Nation building will have you in for the long haul, you know this, so we keep keeping on.

MUSINGS.

We go through life in mornings and evenings. An endless stream of ourselves pouring through time and space. We wake at every point to descend to the torque in another. We are always rising no matter how low we may measure fall. We call to echoes on every wall.

There is depth in every gaze – a black body absorbing vitriol squirts of existence. We become what we mirror in the sea of attainments. We are the ones, tossed in the tide of origins but, unbroken by the pendulum-like sledge of fate.

We wait for doors to open. For locks to free their hands. We labour nature with our sighs and tramping of humus feet. We are meat for the sands. Yet, me milk the sands of meat recreating ourselves in every munch.

Rainbows know our name. They call it when rains name their claim. To be rid of us is to demolish this hide and run existence dry of seasons. We dance in the elements – in the gluttonous lick of fire, the unruly prances of wind, the impatience of water, the grace of earth.

Till morning, till evening, till the portal is a part on the wall, our feet will course these lives in mornings and evenings.

LESSONS, BLESSINGS FROM THE STORY OF CHRISTMAS.

Christmas is the story of birth and rebirth. A tale of liberation, transformation and reformation. It is the season of beginning, of hope and faith. It is more, more than you have ever known or imagined. At Christmas, a seed is sown. It could be an idea, a project, a dream or a gift from the enormous gifting of life, all garbed in organic / clay form, sometimes void of meaning or direction. And like Mary, bare of human validation. But, you must be ready to do all that is required for the journey – from sowing to dormancy to maturity to sprouting – to be successful. The fact that Mary went through the whole nine months is proof that miracles require your input. God works with you. This means you are a stakeholder in God’s project and your words and actions matter.

When God decides for a thing to happen and you speak against it, you can stop it. This is why God shut Zachariah’s mouth in an act of mercy. Zachariah knew all the reason the pronouncements by the angel wouldn’t work and gave all the statistical evidence. The point must be made here that impossibility is not a thing with God. For though Mary was capable of birth and Elizabeth was incapable of same, God arrived at their door steps and breathed life into their homes. So, whatever God says to you about the coming year, you are capable of receiving more. But, be wary of words and thoughts that may throw doubts at your breakthrough. Don’t be like King Herod who though knowing the promise from the scriptures sought to murder the child because the wise men were looking for a king other than himself. This scenario is worth our reflection as it reminds us that relevance is neither in size nor age.

God is not a magician. You must go through the process. Sometimes, the journey is treacherous and without taste. Yes, you can be upright in your walk with God and still live like a pauper, broken and barren. Didn’t the bible say that Zachariah and his wife, Elizabeth, were blameless before God? How come they were without child almost all their life? Unlike the dogma of neo-penticostalism, the walk with God is purpose-driven. Everything that events within is commandeered by his will. Often times, it’s not only about what God says. It’s equally about what you do with your part of the deal. Your response matters. They must flow from right questions. That is the only way you can get the right answers. Be vigilant!

Note the connection between Elizabeth and Mary, between Jesus and John. Same applies to you and the people around you. You must find these connections and nurture them. God needed to send a Christ to save humankind. So, he filled Mary’s womb. But, he needed another to introduce the saviour to mankind. He made Elizabeth fruitful. This means that your growth in life is connected to the growth of others. But, you must align these growths to reach optimum effect / impact. This is why you must find the right people and keep a healthy cache of friends. It goes all the way to relationship and marriage. You must find the right hands to work with. This is necessary because of the enormous task / responsibility that God lays upon your shoulders with each gifting and blessing. For the most precious seed out of you is initiated by God. And note that what you can do, God will not do for you. You must make sure that what is yours to do is done.

The defining moment of your life is initiated by God. He is limitless, unhindered by age, gender, status, advantage or disadvantage. He organizes natural and supernatural backup. Faith is essential to carry out His will. Mary said, 'Be it unto me according to thy word.’ Always side up with God. Beyond the processes is God’s purpose. You are not a baby anymore. Therefore, go beyond the drama to purpose.

Move forward away boldly and courageously from anything and everything that makes it difficult for your creativity to breathe and attain full expression.

All Seeds are meant for different, special and specific environment without which they won't sprout and grow much less develop - Oranges don't grow just everywhere safe for particular environment. So does grapes, carrots, apples, banana and every other kind of fruits.

The choice is not of the soil rather the plant. It determines what soil it grow on. Yes it does.

Like plants, people too have to gravitate towards areas of reward and ultimate fulfillment away from toxic, polluted and unhealthy environment that caused them to be once unhappy, unsupported and unproductive. This is Natures conspiracy and it's important you play with and to it and win in and at it.

The best of you inside of you will never see the light of day until you find that place, the surrounding, that atmosphere, that environment that is most suitable for your growth, development and wellbeing.

Remember, you are a gift from God to our time and space - He sent you so you can be the salt and light to the world - This can only be achieved if you implant yourself in the best of soils to grow, improve and blossom to the full potential that He wants of you, for then and only then can you maximize your potential and impact your world. To do otherwise, is suicidal giving the chance to sentimentalism, ignorance and eternal regrets.

The call, the choice, the action is yours to make!!! Now that you know what to do will you do what you know?
