AHEAD OF US BHA VISIT IN BENUE: AG ES BSEMA LEADS ORGANISING COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO IDP CAMPS
As part of preparation for the planed visit of the Mission Director of US Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) to Benue State, the Acting Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) Sir. James Iorpuu today Monday 22nd January 2024 led members of the organising Committee to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.
Briefing the camp Management and IDPs in each camp visited, the Ag ES BSEMA assured them of the State Government's readiness in collaborating and harnessing the
expertise and unique capacities of both international and local partners as well as US Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance to effectively respond to manmade and natural disasters and complex crises around the state, reiterating Governor Alia's commitment in restoring the dignity of Persons of Concern in the state.
Some of the IDP camps visited were; NEPA Quarters, Ichwa, Baka, Abagena and Daudu camp II in Makurdi and Guma Local Government Areas.
The US BHA scribe will visit the state to engage with the Benue State Government and partners to explore common ground and work collaboratively to address the huge humanitarian situation.
The organisation plays a leading role in responding to humanitarian needs both displaced people and vulnerable host communities, providing food, water, shelter, emergency healthcare, sanitation and hygiene, and critical nutrition services to most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach people.
